Avatar f tn Hi everyone, My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion. During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
Avatar n tn I was recently dx with H pylori. Along with the H pylori I have this weird body odor which smells slightly of ammonia and somewhat meaty? I have this weird taste in my mouth as well. I was taking a prevpac for 14 days and I thought that would take care of the weird body odor as well as kill off the pylori bugs. My stomach feels better but I still smell weird? I also have bright red blood in my stool with each stool. At this point I have no idea what's going on.

Avatar n tn it is h pylori...a little "bug" that burrows its way into the lining of your stomach making you sick..did they give you antibiotics for it? i was dx with it in jan. 2009 and did 2 weeks of prevpac, and am currently waiting for EGD to be done next wed. to check for inflammation and a biopsy if its still there..
Avatar f tn t seem to be going away. At what point I made dr appt. They found I had the H pylori antibody. So this is day nine on the prilosec and day seven on the antibiotics (Ammoxicillin and clarithromycin)for the H pylori. My symptoms are still there SOMETIMES after eating. For the most part it has been a bland diet, except for the exception of a hamburger yesterday which caused extreme discomfort. Could this be a side effect of the medicine or my stomach trying to heal still?
Avatar f tn The bacteria is H. pylori and no, taking the meds is not going to make you feel better quickly. The bacteria has messed up your system and it could take months to get things back to normal. Finish taking the Prevpac and make sure you're retested - probably via breath test - to make sure you've gotten rid of the bacteria. Just because you're using the Prevpac (or other meds) doesn't automatically mean the bacteria will be 'gone.
Avatar f tn welcome to our club..you are not the only one who feel that way aftter the teratment of h pylori check this post http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn The ultrasound and ct scan just found fatty liver but the endoscopy did show Acute and Chronic gastritis due to H Pylori bacteria. He has been in sever pain and unable to work some days due to the pain. Also the pain seems to get worse towards the end of the day. He is miserable and frustrated. He had the prevpac which he finished today and is still in alot of pain.
Avatar f tn There is no known relationship between H. pylori and the polyps. The polyps will not disappear by themselves. Polyps in any portion of the GI tract are a general 'warning' sign, and should be removed. Since the only way the polyps can be reached in the GB is via GB removal, that surgery should be done. The older recommendation was to wait to see if they grow, the newer recommendation is to have the GB removed. Anyone can get H. pylori again.
Avatar n tn Described symptoms are definitevely GERD. Now, the bitter taste in the mouth suggests gallbladder disorder with biliary reflux. If the gallblader itself is OK, it still may be biliary ducts (biliary dyskinesia or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction). There are gross differences in diagnosis of stomach condition. Hiatal hernia may come and go, as hernia can slips up and down, so " now you can see it now you don't".
Avatar m tn I was found to have H. pylori in March, 2011 and the PCP put me on Prevpac for 14-day's treatment. After I taking the 12th dose, I was felling sore throat. Since I was in vocation then, I continued to take the rest doses. later, I went to see my PCP since persistent sore throat. The PCP just said it was allegic reaction and gave me some antibiotics (erythromycin) and ratidine. However, it totally did not work and I was referred to ENT.
Avatar m tn I have GERD / Gastritis caused by H-Pylori. I have noticed every so often I will have a sore throat. It looks raw and unpleasant. Is it common to get sore throats? I thought maybe this was caused by the acid reflux going back into the throat??? Also I am on 5days of doing the prevpac and am wondering how long it takes to heal?

Avatar n tn If you've have black tarry stools and anemia and positive for H. Pylori, should you always be treated with antibiotics or are there are other treatment options?. Are there any situations where antibiotics are not used but you are positive of H. pylori? This discussion is related to Abdominal pain and hypotension episode.
Avatar m tn Hello Everyone, I am 38 years old, I have been suffering from the IBS for few years now, but I was able to manage the symptoms so far, until last year when I started feeling heartburn, after consulting with an internist I was diagnosed positive for H Pylori(UBT Test), the doctor advised to treat it using triple therapy(Pantazol 40mg, Ospamox 1000mg, Avalox 400mg) for seven days, I managed to take it only for 4 days, then I agreed with the doctor to stop it because I was having very strong side e
Avatar f tn Today I finished my 2 week treatment for h pylori. But I'm still having some stomac pain as well alot of stomach gurgling. Does that mean that I still have h pylori and the antibiotics didn't work?
Avatar m tn Could it be the case that might just have some form of Irritable bowel syndrome rather than h pylori, its only that initial occassion when my vomit was darkish that suggests that its h pylori, and maybe it could have been something else other then blood in my vomit. Would i be seeing tarry stools or vomit more often in other words if it was h pyleri!!
Avatar f tn There are various combinations, the idea being to simultaneously attack three different methods of replication, because the cells mutate. There is more than one variety of H. Pylori. The bacteria exists on raw chicken sometimes and you can get reinfected. Wash and cook chicken thoroughly and sterilize all cutting boards. There are arguments pro and con administering acid reducing medications. The "pro" is that they inhibit replication.
