Stomach ulcers are caused by the bacteria h.pylori. There is a combination of antibiotics that has a good chance of curing the infection. They are usually sold as "PrevPac" and you take them for 10-14 days, depending on what your doctor says.
However, stomach pain is not always caused by an ulcer. Antibiotics will not help with other causes, and could possibly even make your stomach pain worse. Be sure to talk to your doctor.

My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion.
During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
The doctor prescribed Prevpac. This medicine is very strong and always have bad taste in my mouth. Now I have been taking this medicine for five days. I still feel pain in the stomach especially in the early morning time close to 5 am. My question is if I am having pain due to the bacteria then by taking this medicne when should I start feeling comfortable. Could it be I have some other condition?
I have this weird taste in my mouth as well. I was taking a prevpac for 14 days and I thought that would take care of the weird body odor as well as kill off the pylori bugs. My stomach feels better but I still smell weird? I also have bright red blood in my stool with each stool. At this point I have no idea what's going on. My pancrease, liver, spleen, and kidneys are normal. I had elevated amlyse levels but no symptomatic pancrease issues.
The pain he describes is soreness,tenderness,burning and stabing like sharp pain in his abdomen and back and sometimes in his side. He had bloodtests,ultrasound,ct scan and finally endoscopy with biopsy. The ultrasound and ct scan just found fatty liver but the endoscopy did show Acute and Chronic gastritis due to H Pylori bacteria. He has been in sever pain and unable to work some days due to the pain. Also the pain seems to get worse towards the end of the day. He is miserable and frustrated.
My husband started on 14 days of prevpac 4 days ago and is now experiencing extreme lack of energy and tiredness--very hard for him to get up in the a.m. and he is exhausted by 2 or 3 p.m. Could this be a side effect of the drugs?

Hey guys,
What issues do experience after prevpac? It is being one year since I went through H.Pylori treatment and now left with many side effects. I went through many possible tests and doctors and nobody can confirm what exactly wrong with me.
I also tried different kinds of probiotics with no success.
Does anyone have any siggestions?

This last weekend it go so bad went to see a doc and was told I did infact have hpylori and that I need to take the prevpac etc.
I don't exaggerate when I say I have trouble taking an aspirin. Medicine FREAKS me out. The birrage of pills this thing comes in.. holy cow.. and then I also have to take some protop pump inhibitor..
That much stuff CAN"T be good for you..
The dry skin and dry mouth may be side effects from the PrevPak, which continues Prevacid and two antibiotics.
Repeating the breath tests can be considered to ensure eradication of the H Pylori. The PrevPak is not 100 percent, so if the bacteria remains, another antibiotic regimen should be considered.
I would also consider an upper endoscopy if the symptoms continue.
These options can be discussed with your GI physician.
I took one dose of clarithromycin in a PrevPac yesterday (first day) and I started having chest pains last evening, anxiety (suicidal thoughts), weakness, couldn't think, etc..I'm stopping immediately. Just continuing with the Amoxicillin.
1. Burning sensation and pain in the sternum area. The burning and pain comes and goes but is occurring frequently.
2. Burning sensation rising from the sternum area up the esophagus to her neck. However there is not regurgitation of stomach acid.
3. Constant metallic/bitter taste in her mouth.
4. Bubbling sensation in the sternum area.
5. Only able to eat small amounts. Must eat every two hours or starts to feel strong hunger pangs.
Throwing up blood is serious and should not go a month without treatment. If it is indeed ulcers, then she has h.pylori, which is a bacteria, not a virus. There is a combination of antibiotics that is effective at treating it. In the States, they sell it in a package called a PrevPac.
The sore throat u complain about is damage from the acids that have refluxed up into the throat and by taking the meds and modifying diet and lifestyle .,..and given time u will begin to feel better...but u have to do it all...not just take meds and expect that to do it.
U mentioned a ENT and a PCP...but have u gone to a GI Dr?
I looked 9 months pregnant and had constant pain. I was treated and and I thought it went away but now I have the same systems but worse and I am naseous. I recently had fibroid surgery and was tested for MSRA and was positive. I was treated before the surgery. I also have a constant nasal drip and throat clearing. I have never had as much as a stomach ache in my life and now I am constantly aware of my digestive system everyday.
It turned out that I also had high levels of h.pylori and campylobacter. A Prevpac took care of that. I also took a med called Xifaxin (for e.coli and parasites) and it helped too.
Sorry for the long winded answer. In my case, the answer was complex. But it could be as simple for you as a side effect of a medication. Many of them cause stomach problems if taken without sufficient food. (For me, Rifampin caused me additional stomach pain and heartburn, even when I took it with food.
s very common to have double the symptoms with double the babies I was lucky and missed out on that. But I started showing at 6 weeks and now am 18.3 weeks and look like I could deliver any day LOL but as far as weight gain I think every woman is different I've personally gained 3 lost 4 gained 2 lost 3 and now I'm 3 lbs heavier than before I got pregnant.....but my body is different from the next woman......
