I've had giardiasis for years now. The main symptom is weight loss despite eating a lot and constipation. A doctor found it last year and I took tonDaze 1 time 2000 milligrams. Started gaining weight right away. Then started losing weight again. It took another year before they found it again through giardiasis antigen test. Took tinadazole again this time nothing happened. The symptoms got worse. I have now been tested again with a positive result again.
Ok so here is my issue I weigh 230 lbs absolutley unintentional I cannot lose weight no matter what I consume only about a thousand calories a day not because i starve myself because frankly that is my capacity when a growing male my age needs about 2500. Next I have a very very slow digestive system I have GERD take prevacid 30mg twice a day.. After i eat i don't stuff myself I have heaviness and bloating and no amount of exercise can reduce even a pound combined with diet.
I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.
My bone density plummeted from 15% above normal to 25% below normal in 6 years (post menopause). Could Prevacid excellerate bone loss. I don't have many risk factors for osteoporosis, no family history.
I take Synthroid, Verapamil, Prevacid. I eat lots of dairy, greens, almonds. I exercise daily.
I eat a fairly low carb diet, minimal alcohol, caffeine, and cola.

constant nausea, stomach cramps, the feeling of something being stuck in the throat, watery stools, weight loss, loss of appetite, uncontrollable belching. These symptoms are occuring all day, every day. I need to know what's causing this because I am very worried for my health. I have never had these symptoms before, and have tried various times to stop them with medications like Prevacid.

The wikipedia account is written by an SMA survivor, like my fiance, who was suffering from dibilating abdominal pain, vomiting, and intense weight loss for several years before corrective surgery simply because it is rare and many doctors wouldnt recognize it on a ct scan, endoscopy, or g.i. series. Feb/2009, Upper GI, some inflammation on stomach, nothing serious, on PREVACID 30mg per day, before meal
March/2009, weight loss from 185LBs- 170 LBs., then Dr. L prescribed 30mg x2 per day. Had abdominal pain at two sides and right Upper Quadrant. had ultrasound, no problem found
April-June/2009, symptoms hardly got improved, weight loss from 170 to 160LBs. I took Tums and PEPCID in addition
July-Sept/2009, see another Dr J. for second opinion. same medication.
They have been softer but normal no bleeding....no weight loss other than 3 pounds at the docs office last week. I saw my oncologist she did blood work nothing funny has come back and I'm amlost 5 years out anyway. Also been having abdominal pain that bounces back and forth from under left ribcage to under right...it was real bad last week as this week it has not been present. I have a gastro app. on the 14th!
What could this be? What tests should I ask for?

What is a good way to gain weight I'm 34 weeks and I just lost five pounds in two weeks my doc says I need to gain at least a pound a week I can't stand any red meats right now they make me sick every time please help.
bloated, loss of appetite with weight loss, always feeling full with occasional stomach pains. His stool test came up negative, so we believe that the h pylori is gone. Does anybody know how long after eradication of the h pylori bacteria, that the symptoms should go away? My son needs to gain weight so that he can grow, but at the present he just cannot eat enough. Do you think he should have endoscopy?
As for the weight loss / weight gain, I am unfortunately one of many who lose weight without the knowledge of how to keep it off. I sincerely wish to lose it again, but I cannot go to the gym with these symptoms.
Any advise on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

I am having a CT scan next week, an upper endoscopy under sedation early July, which may throw light on my current problems of nausea,significant weight loss, loss of appetite, dyspepsia and steatorrhea.
I am not sure how I can help you further as I know very little about GERD, but am more than willing to help with Crohn's. I would agree that your son's Paed should be aware of the familial connection with Crohn's.

sharp stomach pain, nausea, some vomiting, excessive gas, loss of appetite, weight loss, sadness and loss of interest in things, and red spots/sores on skin(mostly on legs). she is typically a very happy child, but has rarely smiled or been happy in months. our doctor has her on prevacid and is scheduling an upper gi. i think it is possibly ulcers leading into other things. any ideas?
I also forgot to add that I get chills as well, my hands will be cold (not clammy) I get chilld but no fever, this happens every day to every second day at most, the chills just started about a month ago. I just got a test done on friday to check the functionality of my gallbladder. I've heard that sometimes it could be something in the brain that causes nausea but that it normally also has the symptom of vomiting in which I haven't done.
Do you have any other symptoms like weight loss, fever, change in bowel movement? When they did the endoscopy did the biopsy the inflamed area?It could be crohn's there are 5 types and one in inflammation of stomach and small intestines I would look up crohn's and the symptoms of crohn's and see if your symptoms match.
The only reason I ask is because I suffer from C Difficile. Most likely you get it after taking an antibiotic however you can get it without. Symptoms are watery diarrhea that eventually includes mucus and/or blood, fever, nausea, stomach cramps. I experienee quick weight loss as well. I don't know at all if your son could have this but a stool test for C Diff would rule it out. Just an idea.
Im six years out from a true gastric bypass. I have kept my weight off and have done well. I've had lots of problem with my legs though. I had two knee replacements last year. Because of a lack of ability to take any NSAIDS, I ended up on methadone and narco. Now I'm trying to get off of it all. I would love to take one of those Aleve. Every time I take something, even if it's with nexium or prevacid, my stomach hurts. I feel really hungry and it starts a carbohydrate cycle.
