I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.
What is a good way to gain weight I'm 34 weeks and I just lost five pounds in two weeks my doc says I need to gain at least a pound a week I can't stand any red meats right now they make me sick every time please help.
But my main concern is her weight gain with this ever since age 3 she has kept all her weight in her belly and she is now 74 lbs and just under 4 feet tall now dont get me wrong she is a big girl (her dad is 6'7 and i am 5'8) .But she has a prutruding belly...I was just wondering if anyone else out there had these same issues or any ideas.(also want to add she is very active plays softball,always outside,swimming,ect.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.
I did go to the GYN who said the cyst was normal, but did a blood test to check for thyroid condition because of my abnormal periods and weight gain. TSH was low and the GYN told me to go to the PCP, I did and he did another blood test to confirm and to test T3 and T4. T3 and T4 was high, he has referred me to an Endocrinologist who I'll see on the 19th of October. I have hyperthyroidism symptoms, except I am gaining weight instead of losing it, and I am doing all I can to lose.
Started gaining weight right away. Then started losing weight again. It took another year before they found it again through giardiasis antigen test. Took tinadazole again this time nothing happened. The symptoms got worse. I have now been tested again with a positive result again. At this point I feel like I'm never going to get rid of it waiting for gastroenterologist to tell
me what to do next.
Hi, thanks for the comment. His only true symptoms were loss of appetite, fullness/bloated feelings, and stomach aches when he eats anything more than a few bites. Unfortunately, this all caused him weight loss and now short stature.
We just went to the doctor and he has not gained any weight yet. We're really pushing him to try to eat. Also, he takes a prevacid daily. Good luck to you with your hp and hopefully your symptoms go away soon too.
As for the weight loss / weight gain, I am unfortunately one of many who lose weight without the knowledge of how to keep it off. I sincerely wish to lose it again, but I cannot go to the gym with these symptoms.
Any advise on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

Ok so here is my issue I weigh 230 lbs absolutley unintentional I cannot lose weight no matter what I consume only about a thousand calories a day not because i starve myself because frankly that is my capacity when a growing male my age needs about 2500. Next I have a very very slow digestive system I have GERD take prevacid 30mg twice a day.. After i eat i don't stuff myself I have heaviness and bloating and no amount of exercise can reduce even a pound combined with diet.
I have been dealing with abdomen pain (which at times can be quite severe), lower back pain, right hip pain (in the groin/joint area), fatigue, weight gain, constipation, and pain when having a bowel movement. I was referred to a GI specialist who ordered a CT of the abdomen and pelvis. The only thing that came back was a "4.9 cm well defined, thin walled cystic lesion at midline in posterior culdesac?...possible GI duplication cyst?....unclear....endemetrioma is not excluded....

had no real concerns only that due to my son suffering from GERDs, she saw in the xray that the bile is backing up into the stomach. This was the same thing she told me 3 years ago and prescribed Prevacid and now prescribed Nexium. There were bad news, however, when the Dr. got the results from the sonogram. She found a lesion on my son's pancreas and the liver is enlarged. Lab results also show the liver enzymes slightly higher. A CT Scan is pending (in 2 weeks!).
