I have been on Prevacid, 30 mg, twice daily, for about a month. It finally seemed to kick in after 4 weeks and I had 5 glorious days of no acid, or very little. I then reduced my dosage to one 30mg capsule daily. Within two days the GERD came back full force! Is it better to go back to two pills? Is it common that it would come back so strong? I'd rather take the two capsules again than have this! Ugh!
ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :(
Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
Well...I had called my family doctor once again because I feared Conner was suffering from both a Milk and Soy intolerance. My doctor finally refered me to a Pediatric GI and I had Conner seen that day. Everything went okay, it's better news than I had expected, but it's still news I was hoping I didn't get. One a good note, Conner is not allergic to soy(thank god). He does however have a severe Milk allergy that he may not outgrow.
I have acid reflux and a small hiatal hernia. I take Prevacid ( acid blocker) daily. The reason I ask is that 2 years ago I have Valley Fever and was taking Ibroprofen daily ( prob. about 1000 mg a day!). Well, at that time, I was not taking my Prevacid as I should and I developed pain in my chest, just left of my esophagus. They thought it was due to the VF as I had a very tiny lung nodule in my left lung but felt that the pain was too bad for something that small.
I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.

My bone density plummeted from 15% above normal to 25% below normal in 6 years (post menopause). Could Prevacid excellerate bone loss. I don't have many risk factors for osteoporosis, no family history.
I take Synthroid, Verapamil, Prevacid. I eat lots of dairy, greens, almonds. I exercise daily.
I eat a fairly low carb diet, minimal alcohol, caffeine, and cola.

I've been taking prevacid 30 mg TWICE a day for 10 years. Once a day before that. Doc says should be no problem. I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis in my spine (aver. -3.2) and osteopenia in my hip. I am very active, martial arts instructor. 5'11" and 185 lbs. I was told to cut back the Prevacid to once a day. My blood work shows no obvious problems. Has prevacid been linked to Osteoporosis?
I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.
5MG once-twice daily, with a qty of 20! that is no way to taper some one off this medication, right? I talked to my aunt who is a doctor (she will not prescribe any narcotics through out our family because of DEA ref's etc) and she told me to go to a new doctor because stopping this drug is way to risky especially for someone my age (18). She actually doesn't even want me on the medication, because a few years ago I would take them to get high.
HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.
I have had acid reflux for about 20 years, but it has been under control for years and years thanks to a daily does of Prevacid. But, about 4 months ago, my acid reflux suddenly got much, much worse.
Because I drink very little, exercise regularly and eat well, I began to wonder if the sudden worsening of my acid reflux were somehow connected to my Flecainide intake. Has anyone heard of a linkk between Flecainide and acid reflux, indigestion or heartburn?
I have fought taking PPis over the years but when I developed the EE, I had to go on high dose prevacid---30 mgs, 2x daily. I wake up some mornings with stabbing pain in my gut with the first deep breath that I take.
I experimented recently afte wakin gup in pain, and didn't ake the prevacid that night. i woke up with no pain in my gut.
Has anyone else had a PPI cause them stomach pain?
I am also on a swallowed steroid for the EE.
I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
Daughter is already on Neocate and Prevacid twice daily. Doctors at hospital and GI doc said they've never seen anything like it. She has mild reflux at best. She's had endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ph monitoring, MRI, ECHO, Biopsies of colon and esophagus, and numerous blood tests and urine tests. They can find nothing wrong with her. Now they want to put in a G-tube in a week or so. Right now she's feeding through an NG tube. I'm so upset I don't know what to do.
I am a 55yo female and have had gerd for many years, Had an endoscopy last year with sl esophagitis at lower end near stomach. I continue to have symptoms especially at night. Have been on multiple ppi's.Have been on prevacid 30mg daily recently without effect on night time acid. Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both?

Around a year ago I was experiancing a constant ache in my stomach that seemed to follow a large or fatty meal. I went for a barium swallow and ultrasound and both were negative. I increased my prevacid to 30mg twice daily for 2 weeks or so and the problem seemed to resolve with a few minor recurrances in the last year.
t been feeling that great and the doc prescribed Prevacid at 30mg twice a day along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin. My H. Pylori test came back negative so I could stop the Amoxil and Biaxin. It might take a while but he tells me it will work.
On the other hand, a friend of mine had severe reflux and the doc prescribed Protonix. It worked so well that they were able to get off of it and only use it when they feel a flare up coming on (every couple months).
