prevacid side effects on infants

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

I took/take Prevacid for 6 weeks and also have terrible side effects from it. Anxiety gone through the roof, muscle twitching in my throat, depression beyond believe. I was supposed to take 30 mg a day but because I had a really bad swallowing problem (turned out those were actually anxiety crampings of my throat) I took a few times 60 mg a day (morning and evening a 30 mg).

After she started Prevacid she was less irritable but developed side-effects including giving up napping during the day and green, mucus-like foul smelling stool (started this week). Oh yeah, she also has a milk protein based sensitivity. My wife is still nursing but has given up all dairy and dairy-like foods. Any help as to what this may mean or if this is serious?

t know that much about it but it seems that after 10mg you are having such severe side effects that possibly something else might be going on as well? In my humble opinion, you should ensure that this is the cause and not something else honey...wouldn't hurt to investigate especially since you are having trouble 36 hours after taking 10mg. There can be side-effects with the use of PPIs - no drug is without side-effects unfortunately. They can include changes to bone density - more ease of fracture - and anemic states due to loss of B12 uptake. Changes in bowel habits and loose stools can be a result of the use of PPIs. If you cut down on acid, you cut down on the amount of food that's thoroughly digested and able to be absorbed. Those materials will cause changes in the output of the digestive system in a number of ways.

I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?

He is on Prevacid ( Zantac did not help him atall) 3x day and he seems to be feeling better on it. He is alos on Carafate 4x a day to coat his Esophagus because it was damaged badly! What are if any side effects of him taking these meds and could there be any long term problems???? Any one have any tricks that worked for you to help with the spitting up???

If so can you tell me if you are having side effects from them? I currently take one 20mg Prilosec tablet and they seem to make me dizzy and light headed. I also notice pain in my lower abdomin.

However it is not advisable to use too much of steroid creams as it has plenty of side effects like skin atrophy, skin thinning, telangiectasia, steroid induced rosacea or redness. Use it only as per the prescription and have regular follow ups with your child’s doctor. Also the best treatment of eczema is use of moisturizers which should be applied in a thin layer on the eczematous patch.

It has many side effects, but I no longer have my pharmacy print-out of the side effects listed. My doctor told me Prevacid would not cause severe colitis, but it did. My GI doctor said it could, and I googled "Prevacid side effects" and found a Mayo Clinic article which stated that not only Prevacid, but Prilosec, and the other PPI drugs could in certain people cause severe colitis lasting for weeks.

I am a 55yo female and have had gerd for many years, Had an endoscopy last year with sl esophagitis at lower end near stomach. I continue to have symptoms especially at night. Have been on multiple ppi's.Have been on prevacid 30mg daily recently without effect on night time acid. Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both?

worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). i have been told that though there has not been a lot of research done on the effects of the drug, that it is better to stay on it through out preg, and the risk of withdrawls in infants ranges from 20-90%! do you have any info on this or ability to use pain management during labor while taking subutex? or a place i can go to ask a anesthesioligist?

my daughter was on prevacid for GERD...it caused her to vomit, and she was very fussy on it. Her doctor told me that side effects are vomitting, nausea, and headaches. So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I know it seems crazy to add more medications on fix the side effect of another medication, but if that is the only thing that works for you then you gotta do what you gotta do. I would suggest talking to your doctor about trying medications to help prevent this that you could take before the beta blocker. I would also suggest considering a GI consult, they may be able to better tell you what medication would prevent this from happening after taking the beta blocker. Hope this helps!

gave me a Prevpak, combination antibiotics and Prevacid together, but there seems to be side effects. I am thinking about going on a fast to rid my body of all the toxins and start again with sensible eating. You are so right, it's not worth it.

I hated prednisone and dread it to this day whenever any doctor mentions even putting me on that med due to the numerous side effects that it caused in my case. I would ask the doc if you can double up on the Nexium, if it is very severe, then maybe you need a few tests to make sure nothing serious is going on with you.

HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.

t as virus, it was protonix. Dizziness and heart issues are side effects of PPIs. I was then put on Prilosec, 20 mg, but it didn't help. The doctor increased my dose to 20 mg twice daily. After a couple of weeks I started having heart palpitations, sometimes for 9 straight hours. After decreasing my dosage back to 20 mg once daily, the palpitations stopped. The doctor now wants me to take Prevacid, but I am worried about the side effects. Anyone have a bad experience with Prevacid?

Hi I am a 29 years old male, been healthy all my life. I don't drink but I do smoke, like 7-8 cigarettes per day, sometimes less. About 2 months ago I started having stomach cramping and chest pain.
