I took/take Prevacid for 6 weeks and also have terrible side effects from it. Anxiety gone through the roof, muscle twitching in my throat, depression beyond believe. I was supposed to take 30 mg a day but because I had a really bad swallowing problem (turned out those were actually anxiety crampings of my throat) I took a few times 60 mg a day (morning and evening a 30 mg).

If I knew what else to take I woulod but with a hernia, and a govt that will only give operation's as a last resort I am stuck with it.

these pass few day the doctor told me that i have acid reflux that cause phlegm and the doctor prescribe of prevacid (lansoprazole) and motilium (domperidone). now how could i know that i have already cured from the disease. the symtoms that come up to me in start is sore throat after few days it was gone and now very light chest pain and it only twice since i was diagnosed and there is no more symptoms.

Hi...both meds are PPI's and work the same...getting off either needs to be done with the help of ur Dr, u need to step off slowly ot avoid the rebound effect of this med. PPI's stop production of the acids, when u stop taking the meds, it flips the on switch and many times our system makes too much all at once and we feel the same as we did b4....this is y it is very important to slowly step off these meds and know u may have some GERD until ur body adjusts.

Other side effects i am having include tingling sensation in arms and legs, chest tightness, headaches, sore throat and cough with sputum... Is this another underlying condition or are they just side effects of the drugs?

I’ve had the most horrible side effects. I already suffer with really bad acid reflux (diagnosed as IBS co they couldn’t find anything else). Well this drug gave me acid to die for – pains in the neck, back, stomach under my ribs; I thought I was having a heart attack!! Hi, There are only 5 proton pump inhibitors available. Omeprazole(prilosec), lansoprazole (prevacid), pantoprazole (protonix), rabeprazole( aciphaex) and esomeprazole(Nexium). All are of same efficacy. If there is no response to one, switching to another might be helpful. I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I understand that this is quite a high dose normally given under clinical supervision when someone is admitted to hospital with uncontrolled asthma. There is an enormous list of side-effects and I am not willing to add these to the problems I already have when I have no firm diagnosis of the problem. I am now awaiting further blood tests and a spirometry test. I have started to wonder whether what I am experiencing now are side-effects of the lansoprazole????

ve stopped taking methimazole 12 days ago because of the strong side effects (hives, joint/muscle pain, dry throat). Though these effects are lessening, I wonder how long it might take for them to be completely gone.

It has helped with the terrible pain i was feeling after eating but i still have acid attack, gurgling stomach,bloating, lump in throat/chest. The feeling like there is a lump in my throat that i cannot swallow is a pain! I have had an endoscopy which confirmed a LES. I am depressed about it but other than surgery there is little more than i can do and i am scared to have the surgery incase it makes it worse or i can't swallow properly.
