I took/take Prevacid for 6 weeks and also have terrible side effects from it. Anxiety gone through the roof, muscle twitching in my throat, depression beyond believe. I was supposed to take 30 mg a day but because I had a really bad swallowing problem (turned out those were actually anxiety crampings of my throat) I took a few times 60 mg a day (morning and evening a 30 mg).

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

I’ve had the most horrible side effects. I already suffer with really bad acid reflux (diagnosed as IBS co they couldn’t find anything else). Well this drug gave me acid to die for – pains in the neck, back, stomach under my ribs; I thought I was having a heart attack!! The acid is so bad at the moment it is making me cough when it hits my throat and the pain – well – and its been 36 hours since I took a tablet. For goodness sake I only took 10 mg and only managed that for 2 days!!!

There can be side-effects with the use of PPIs - no drug is without side-effects unfortunately. They can include changes to bone density - more ease of fracture - and anemic states due to loss of B12 uptake. Changes in bowel habits and loose stools can be a result of the use of PPIs. If you cut down on acid, you cut down on the amount of food that's thoroughly digested and able to be absorbed. Those materials will cause changes in the output of the digestive system in a number of ways.

I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?

It can take a few months to separate disease activity from treatment side-effects unless its something obvious like Copaxone welts. Be sure to mention this to your team when you go for the second infusion so this gets put in your notes and you get feedback from the pros. In the mean time, I'm so sorry you're feeling this wiped out.

If so can you tell me if you are having side effects from them? I currently take one 20mg Prilosec tablet and they seem to make me dizzy and light headed. I also notice pain in my lower abdomin.

do all of these crappy (literally) side effects EVER fade??? ive only been on the combined treatment for a month now....it just seems to b getting worse...the vomitting, crapping, fatigue,body aches, head aches, raw throat and mouth....i just hate to ask my docs for all kinds of meds....just wondering if it gets better closer to the one year marker????

At six weeks your body has fully absorbed these meds so side effects is more common. When I took Riba without more of a meal I would also get and upset stomach so that was more then likely your problem, again a pretty common side... As for the upper pain in the abdomen It is more then likely Acid Reflex as these meds bring that on. Talk to your doctor but for me he had me take over the counter Prevacid or Prilosic both are safe to take. Stay away from things like tums. again pretty common side.

My mother just had her 1st shot of Lucentis. She has a small leak. She is also on Glaucoma eye drops. She is experiencing extreme fatigue and she said her thoughts/memory seem fuzzy. How long do these side effects last? My mother is a small person who doesn't take any other medications except for the eyes. She works out everyday. She isn't up to that either. Does she have to get these every 4 weeks or can they space them out more or lesser dose?

I started noticeing side effects at about 8pm, and they continued till this morning. I experienced a low grade headache, aches in my upper legs and lower back, some difficulty sleeping, and an awkward kind of dizziness (which I notice now seems to immediately follow my Riba dose). It has many side effects, but I no longer have my pharmacy print-out of the side effects listed. My doctor told me Prevacid would not cause severe colitis, but it did. My GI doctor said it could, and I googled "Prevacid side effects" and found a Mayo Clinic article which stated that not only Prevacid, but Prilosec, and the other PPI drugs could in certain people cause severe colitis lasting for weeks.

I am really tired, just washed out, and stay in bed until 10 or 11 each morning. Is fatigue a side effect of effexor? Colud my fatigue be related to something else?

Just wondering if anyone else is dealing with the following side effects due to taking benzo's and if anyone has found a way to alleviate any of them.

I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. Unfortunately I am experiencing maddening itching which I'm controlling with Allegra and extreme fatigue and an all around foggy feeling.

I also take Acebutolol. Just wondering what types of side effects people have experienced while being on these meds? Since being on them I notice that I am much more tired than usual. I also notice my muscles and joints ache and get fatigued very easily...i went from running 3 or 4 miles, to getting tired walking up the stairs...the medicine keeps my heart rate in check, but with consequences I really feel that the medicine is to blame...

worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan). I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine. Have you ever had a severely burning tongue caused by them?

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.

Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.

I had no side effects at all and was able to continue my XC skiing and cycling as normal. Some do have side effects like fatigue, headache and anemia but I have not heard about anything very severe with this treatment.
