I took/take Prevacid for 6 weeks and also have terrible side effects from it. Anxiety gone through the roof, muscle twitching in my throat, depression beyond believe. I was supposed to take 30 mg a day but because I had a really bad swallowing problem (turned out those were actually anxiety crampings of my throat) I took a few times 60 mg a day (morning and evening a 30 mg).

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

I get severe bloating after I eat. I have recently been diagnosed with a small hiatial hernia. I take prevacid twice a day. Could this be reducing the acid too much or destroying good bacteria? Also I eat extremely bland every meal, try to avoid gaseous food and all dairy products. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this severe bloating? Oh and I seem to have mild pain or discomfort in the upper mid-section of abdomen often.

took that medicine and I became sooo depressed and had crazy crying spells for no reason...when I read the phamplet of side effects it states in their about mood swings and depression, so I stopped that immediatley and week later I was back to normal....so cannot take prevacid...my symptoms have not gotten worse but they seem to come and go...I do believe that stress has alot to do with it..just trying to figure this stuff out...growing old is no fun!

ve had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. I’ve had the most horrible side effects. I already suffer with really bad acid reflux (diagnosed as IBS co they couldn’t find anything else). Well this drug gave me acid to die for – pains in the neck, back, stomach under my ribs; I thought I was having a heart attack!! By February, my stomach started seeming to bloat really bad after meals. I went to see an Urgent Care doctor and they prescribed me with Prevacid, as well as trying to order some xrays, a barium swallow, etc. But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?

Hi I had a colonscopy 10/09/09, and I'm still having side effects. At first I couldn't stop going liquid then it cleared up for a couple of days now it's back.They found 4 polyps again beign but the kind that can turn into cancer so I have to have another next year. But I'm having to use tucks and I'm bleeding off and on from the rectum. I still have bloating feel kind of tired.

I have gained about 7 to 10 pounds since beginning this medication, but I am quite concerned about the cramps and bloating. Is this a side effect of the medication? I have never experienced anything like this before. Thank you for any comments.

My question is, can hyperthyroidism cause stomach upset like this? I get bloating, cramping, diarrhea, etc. Sometimes when I stand up, I get dizzy because my stomach tightens up. My doctor put me back on PTU this morning. I hope it helps. Any words of advice? Thanks.

He has had colonoscopy and endoscopy and found nothing. What could be causing this. He is taking protonix and has taken prevacid previously. He also gets a sharp pain under his left rib cage.
