Avatar n tn I have been taking Prilosec OTC and my Doctor prescribed Nexium. It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.
Avatar f tn I am taking tagamet otc- Walmart generic brand and for me it is better than the rx ones- But that's just me....
Avatar m tn Is prevacid an otc item in the US? i work in a pharmacy in canada and its prescription. 15 mg and 30 mg.
Avatar f tn m taking the right thing to fight it. Do mastic gum, DGL licorice, slippery elm, and OTC products like Prilosec or Prevacid, etc. cause loose stools? I'm prone to loose stools and don't want the problem to get worse. Thanks for any help and suggestions!
223372 tn?1240920676 I was very restless and anxious and the warnings were to quit it immediately if I experienced those symptoms. So, my OB put me on Prilosec OTC this week----I have read pros and cons on line.....anyone else out there have an opinion?
Avatar n tn Try the OTC prevacid that was just recently released. I used to be on prevacid when it was only available by prescription until my insurance company stopped covering it. I definitely am going to use the OTC version since the Prilosec my insurance co told me to use does absolutely nothing.
Avatar m tn Yeah I have pretty much tried them all! Nothing seems to work. Today for example I took two prevacid, yet at 8:45 I am sitting here with acid in the back of my throat. I have tried all OTC stuff, prevacid, prilosec, and aciphex. I may give nexium a shot because that seems to work the best for some people.
Avatar f tn As the title said, I am a 50 year old healthy female(with normal BMR). I used to have bad heartburn years ago, but was able to treat it with change in diet and prevacid. I actually haven't taken this medication for a few years. Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked.
Avatar m tn Do not take double the over the counter dose (perscription dose) of any of these medications without first consulting your doctor. I have found that OTC Prevacid or Prilosec work well.
Avatar f tn I started my pregnancy with acid reflux.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
547181 tn?1255146506 Yes this is fairly common during tx, check with you doctor about giving you either nexium, prevacid, or prilosec. All are safe to take, nexium and prevacid worked best for me. Congrats on being over halfway done. Wishing you the best.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflux and ulcers so tums never helped. They said that prevacid is safe to take. Plus it is otc so no prescription needed.
Avatar n tn Right now, I am taking Prevacid 30mg. My voice at times is hoarse, so I went to an ENT dr. and he sent me for a test to look into my throat, and I was told that I have swollen vocal cords, and the acid is still backing up. I took Prilosec OTC but it did not agree with me. I have rashes on my knees, elbows, back and my neck and back and head hurt, Is the Prevacid enough and could it be causing all these symptoms?
168348 tn?1379357075 So why did they take Prevacid Packets off the shelf I ask .. grrrrrrrrrrr .. my co pay was $35/mo! It is helpful to have a quick melt or packet to mix for kids who aren't able to swallow a pill .. and the taste for an older child is awful if compounded (tastes like salt even with flavor bcz of the saccharine like products in it). Just was curious. I guess the other option are capsules of prevacid and open and sprinkle on something.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.
234013 tn?1231110193 I bought Stuart Prenatal vitamins OTC. I had a $10 off coupon so they were only $15. I think I may stick with them.
Avatar m tn The best way to prevent it is to not eat foods that cause acid reflux. However there are OTC medicines that can treat/prevent reflux.
977806 tn?1249067346 Hello. I have GERD and just received a prescription for Nexium (have been using OTC Prilosec but after using a couple weeks of samples found Nexium worked perfect for my symptoms). I have individual Carefirst but horrible prescription plan. I just purchased 30 Nexium at $160.00! Is there anyone that has ordered from Canada online and if so do you have any recommendations for an online pharmacy. Thanks for any information.
Avatar f tn I take Prilosec OTC everyday. I been taken it since my first trimester. It helps and safe.
Avatar n tn s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
Avatar n tn I've had sinus problems for a very long time, it's been recently brought to my attention by an ENT (I can no longer see) that it's likely being caused by silent reflux. I never feel heartburn. I got Prevacid OTC and I have been taking it for two days. It's causing me some serious pain and lethargy I am unsure if I should just keep going or if it gets better. From what I'm reading online these are some serious and possibly dangerous medicines.
Avatar f tn t afford to see a doctor I would recommend trying an OTC PPI like Prevacid or Prilosec in case it is GERD/heartburn.
