I've been taking PPI's for years per my doctor's instructions. I would like to ask my GI doc about this since I have a problem with my bones. He wouldn't take anyone's opinion on a forum seriously. Would you have a good web site that states this effect of the PPI's and the bones? A site that a doctor would take seriously?

Hi, I'm brand new to this site but it looks like this might be where I'll finally get some answers. My name is Bill. I'm a 59 year old male in generally pretty good health with the exception of controlled high blood pressure which is probably hereditary since both my mom and her mom had it. My major complaint is insomnia. For the last six years, I have not been able to sleep at nights without medication (Ambien 10 mg.). It all started about six years ago.
There really aren't very many specialists in the area of dysautonomia, I'm afraid.
I was told P.O.T.S. could be hereditary and later learned I have a second cousin who has been diagnosed with the same thing. I've not had any official testing to determine the underlying cause of my autonomic dysfunction. I was diagnosed with P.O.T.S. back in 2004.
I just took one of those home drug tests and it is positive for benzo which I have a prescription for in the form of Lorazepam and oxy which I have not taken in months and then only a few. The opiate was negative and everything else what is up with the false positive on the oxycontin??
Help I may be getting a test this week. I am only taking sub's, prevacid, and tylenol pm. I did have a clonidine patch on for a couple of days.
Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
I have been suffering for over a year now and still have not come to any conclusions as to my problem. I had been on Pariete, Prevacid, etc. etc. Have had endoscopy, colonoscopy. The endoscopy found an inflammation on my duodenum, colonoscopy found nothing. I have been sick on and off now for about 2 weeks now. Here are the symptoms I am currently experiencing with no relief in sight.
My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
From reading on this site about other people experiences, I believe that this could be associated with the bacteria in my stomach. But I also noticed that sometimes I also get it after when I inhale wind while taking my pills and having water.
Thanks for the confirmation. It's when I stopped my prevacid I ran into problems with the asthma .My primary dr. didn't think there was a connection.
I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.
I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions? I would hate to do more damage when I ma trying to correct already done damage.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Did you just start taking prevacid? Have you eaten anything red recently? Are you constipated? Do you have hemmorhoids?

Of course, as a Gt 3 I must keep in mind what Hector posted on another site, this week about the study of tx follow-up where out of 863 people 85 relapsed and 83 of those did so before Week 12. Two relapsed AFTER Week 12 and they were both Gt3s.
However I am thanking God for the blessing of SVR 12 and am going to be aware of the possibility, but not stress over it. My Dr has already given me the paperwork for Labs end of May for a June appt.
pylori, eosinophilic esophagitis, and severe acid reflux. Antibiotics, steriods, prevacid, and several other medications were used to no avail. The esophogal lining is severely decreased...
Vomiting and stomach upset are prevalent.
I'm looking for dos and donts for these conditions and any successful treatments.

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.
Well, it's official. I received my diagnosis today. I was getting a EMG and while I was in there my neuro busted in and filled me in. I also have arthritis in my spine. Awesomesauce! :-/ I am supposed to start a 3-5 day IV treatment of steroids and I think they gave me homework? I have a butt load of stuff to read about MS and medications and then in a month I go back for another appointment and decide what I want to take. Why do they all of the meds have to be injectable!?
Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
