Prevacid medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid medicine

prevacid

Avatar n tn said my daughter had not outgrown reflux and needed to be on prevacid and see a ped. Gastroenterologist. He did a scope on her esaphagus and showed no permanent damage but did find a hiatal hernia. We changed her diet and the doctor put her on 15 mg prevacid. It was a miracle - she stopped complaining of: stomach aches, never able to clear throat, vomiting in night, always felt like something in chest, etc...
433485 tn?1321813390 I also have GERD so take Prevacid. Something is bothering my stomach but I am hoping it is just side effects as it has only been 2 weeks since Wellbutrin and almost a week since Abilify. Would love feedback from fellow med takers. Also, I want to say that I have a BS in Pscyh and understand the need for the meds and have some understanding of brain chemistry. I am okay with meds, but this seems like overload....Thanks...
Avatar f tn Can prevacid work better than nexium with treating idiopathic gastroparesis? Is there ever been a comparison done?
Avatar m tn Last night i developed a sore throat that continued today, i also am sick to my stomach although i can eat and drink, i have attacks where i feel like throwing up. Ive been taking Prevacid for about two weeks for what may be an ulcer, ulcerative colitis, or ceoliac spore. I don't feel weak like i usually do when I'm sick, I believe it may be a side effect of the medicine. Should i seek medical help or stop taking the medicine? or should i continue doing what ive been doing?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had to try more then 1 type of medicine to relieve their stomach pain from too much acid, gerd or whatever reason they are on the meds. I tried prevacid for 5 weeks and it didn't help at all. I am now trying prilosec and have been on it for a week now, It does seem to have helped somewhat but I still do have problems. I know some of my problems could be from not eating a lot. I don't know what to eat so sometimes I will skip eating which probably isn't good for my stomach.
Avatar f tn No, but I've worked with them when I managed health food stores -- what kind of digestive problems? My guess is, yes, they would be good for this, unless it's some disease state natural medicine can't touch. It's amazing what some digestive enzymes, DGL and aloe juice can do for people, or chamomile for relaxing the stomach. Or just chewing more slowly, which I'm unable to do but which can work wonders. Or some bitters to help get the digestive juices flowing.
Avatar f tn Tums, milk, I'm on medicine because mine was bad before I got pregnant. Talk to your dr of you have tried over the counter and it hasn't worked.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.
Avatar n tn Right now, I am taking Prevacid 30mg. My voice at times is hoarse, so I went to an ENT dr. and he sent me for a test to look into my throat, and I was told that I have swollen vocal cords, and the acid is still backing up. I took Prilosec OTC but it did not agree with me. I have rashes on my knees, elbows, back and my neck and back and head hurt, Is the Prevacid enough and could it be causing all these symptoms?
296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
547181 tn?1255146506 I have also discussed this issue with my doc and asked him to recomend some medicine for this problem. My doc said it is highly recomended that i shouldnt use any medicine untill the acidity becomes un-bearable or stays longer than 12-15 days. He only recomended Citris Soda powder to use with water twice a day only for 3 days but it didn't help a lot. Is there any food which can reduce acidity???
290867 tn?1333569278 Amy I talked to my doc and she finally put him on the Prevacid Solutabs!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy! Thanks so much for all your help!!!! Whats the best way to give them to him???
Avatar f tn I am aware of Protonix generic Pantoprazole. I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given? I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief. My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.
Avatar f tn Had it for months and it only got better now at the end of my pregnancy. You can take any heartburn medicine you can buy in supermarkets, I used gaviscon and it was really good.
Avatar n tn I'm taking omeprazole for acid reflux's. Is there a similar medicine that does not carry the dizziness label. My acid reflux's is low.
Avatar f tn t listen to me. I told her before that I took acid reducing medicine prior, she still put me on prevacid, which did nothing. My diet has changed dramatically over the past 2 years I've had this, it's only gotten worse though. I even exercise more than I ever used to and like I said, it just got worse. It honestly doesn't matter how my head would be placed, I would still get the feeling of having to burp up. I have this happen every 15 seconds or so everyday.
Avatar m tn I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
1176471 tn?1263733305 Hi Sheila - I'm sorry you've been having tummy troubles. Yes, you can develop a lactose intolerance at any time, same as you could with any "true" allergy. Although changing to fat free milk helps to cut down/out the fat from your diet, it does nothing to elminate the lactose from the milk. Also keep in mind that the lactose from the milk will be present in all other dairy products as well, such as cheese. Are you now off the protonix?
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
Avatar n tn Have you tried any of the PPI drugs like Prevacid or Prilosec? They keep my GERD under control and the vagus nerve quieted down, which reduces arrythmias. I can tell a real difference when I don't take the medicine. I would certainly ask for the meds instead of surgery. They are available over the counter in lower doeses and Prevacid 30 mg. is generic. I would think it would be worth a try. I too, would prefer to try the most conservative approach. Surgery has its risks.
Avatar m tn It could be reflux. I would try an over the counter medicine like prilosec or prevacid to see if it helps.
Avatar n tn Buy prevacid off the counter wrks wonders!
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar f tn I was taking that and it didn't help for me I switched to one prevacid in a diclegis just in the morning.
Avatar f tn It sounds like reflux and you should be on meds for that. Try prevacid which is sold over the counter. That could help a bunch of your symptoms. Also, you can try an anxiety med to see if that can stop the swallowing. You should try calling your GI doctor because he may have forgotten.
