prevacid maximum dose

I have fought taking PPis over the years but when I developed the EE, I had to go on high dose prevacid---30 mgs, 2x daily. I wake up some mornings with stabbing pain in my gut with the first deep breath that I take. I experimented recently afte wakin gup in pain, and didn't ake the prevacid that night. i woke up with no pain in my gut. Has anyone else had a PPI cause them stomach pain? I am also on a swallowed steroid for the EE.

Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.

Hi - For the past 2 years or so I have been taking low dose of Atenalol (Tenormin) daily to regulate my SVTs which I've had for years, and it has helped a lot. The problem is that it upsets my stomach (have all kinds of gastric problems) so bad that I feel like i want to die. Starts up as regular as clockwork 1 and 1/2 hours after I take it. After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.

I'm sorry, I missed the Hashi's dx - my mistake. I don't see anything that indicates you had a thyroid ultra sound? Please don't tell me I missed that too, in spite of going back and reading again...........LOL It's possible that you have nodules that are leaking hormone independently of the thyroid gland itself. This can swing you from hypo to hyper very quickly.

t doing well and you raised them on your own to see if it would help which is never a good idea? What is the dose that you are taking? What dose did you take today? I could give you some more information then. But more importantly if you are starting to feel sick then you might have taken above what is the reccomended maximum dosage and clearly you are encountering some side effects.

Hi, I took the double dose of prevacid and I was fine last night, but woke up this am with bad watery diarrhea and some nausea. I know Prevacid can cause diarrhea, but this is a bad case of it. Think it could be related? Im definitly calling my dr today to set up an appt to discuss,,,,thinking I should stop the double dose until I talk with him. I was on prevacid for years, my body should be used to it!

Please suggest for vit d 3 dose that is required for her .

I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past. I'm also horrified by the idea of combined antibiotics for extended time. I can barely tolerate a single antibiotic agent for 5d in the past. How much probiotics should I take to counteract the side effects of antibiotics? Thank you!

I was having alot of GERD symptoms last week before she put me on the higher dose of prevacid. I feel alot better when it comes to GERD symptoms. but i dont gag, regurgitate or have food go up my nose. I can breathe normally. Have not had any aspiration of food or liquids. Hope its not something deadly.

Other drugs may, however, affect your INR. I had a high reading and it is because of the Zantac I switched to from Prevacid for treatment of my GERD. So I'm back to Prevacid until I can switch to a lesser med if possible. I've also had a high INR from Pepto bismal (which apparently has asprin in it). Always read the cautions and warnings on OTC meds and ask the pharmacist on any Rx's if you are on a blood thinner. Better safe than sorry.

If you truly took 10,000 mg of ibuprofen, you need to go to the ER ASAP. This is about 9 times the maximum dose you should take without the supervision of a doctor and about 3 times the maximum dose you should take even with the supervision of a doctor.

I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.

It sounds like reflux and you should be on meds for that. Try prevacid which is sold over the counter. That could help a bunch of your symptoms. Also, you can try an anxiety med to see if that can stop the swallowing. You should try calling your GI doctor because he may have forgotten.

It sounds like you need a different controller med, a stronger dose or to layer a PPI with an H2 blocker. I am don't know what the ingredients of Prevacid are, but you may want to look into different options with your controller. Also, do you eat chocolate or have caffeine? Caffeine in any form is a trigger. With the holidays it could be easy to indulge. Alcohol and peppermint are big triggers as well. What about garlic and onions? Two last thoughts.
