Moxie, I checked with a friend who has had some experience with 'fussy' eating babies and children.Here is her reply to me:
"Some forms of Prevacid have milk in them. She should have the pharmacist at the hospital confirm that the form being given is milk free.
If I recall, Neocate is totally safe for milk and soy allergies, but not corn. Maybe this poor baby is allergic to corn? I haven't looked into this in a long time so I can't recall which formulas are corn free.
I was told mylanta but I havent tried it because I dont want it in liquid form lol. Tums dont work anymore for me either.
Has anyone had to try more then 1 type of medicine to relieve their stomach pain from too much acid, gerd or whatever reason they are on the meds. I tried prevacid for 5 weeks and it didn't help at all. I am now trying prilosec and have been on it for a week now, It does seem to have helped somewhat but I still do have problems. I know some of my problems could be from not eating a lot. I don't know what to eat so sometimes I will skip eating which probably isn't good for my stomach.
t resolved with over the counter remedies, such as a liquid anti-acid (GI doctor office claims this is better than chewable anti-acids because it coats), OTC strength acid reducing medication, or peptobismol (or generic), as well as giving your stomach a break from aggravating foods (used to be prescribed a 48-72 hour clear liquid diet when I had gastritis if I recall correctly), it's time to take a trip to the doctor.
For about the last three years i have not had a normal bowel movement it goes from pencil line movement to a extreme liquid movement. all this is started with a bloating feeling in my upper stomach as if my food is not digesting at all as if it sits in my stomach. this is followed up by Sulfur burps (eggy burps). after about 12 hours comes the extreme pain and cramping and then the diarrhea. and the worse flatulence i have ever heard come out of a human.
Back in February, I was diagnosed with stomach polyps caused by PPIs (Prevacid in my case). I have numerous polyps and have had 2 endoscopes with biopsies. Both times they came back benign. After doing quite a bit of research, I found that this is not uncommon at all. Also, there isn't a known case of these polyps turning into any form of cancer. In fact, my gastreonologist even went to the scientist at Prevacid. She isn't very concerned and just wants to keep an eye on them.
I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Does your Dr have you on Vitamin C to increase the iron absorption? Are you using chelated iron (iron from natural sources-usually in liquid form) rather than the oxidized variety which is very hard on your liver and difficult to break down? Are you on H2 inhibitors? (Medications like Prevacid which decrease your stomach acid levels and impair vitamin and mineral absorption because they haven't been broken down when they hit the small intestine.
He used to sleep on top of me for the first 4 months, now sleeps in elevated crib (2 pillows underneath the mattrass. He takes half a Prevacid in the morning and a little bit Zantac in the evening. I dance/rock him to sleep for naps, when he used to wake up after 30 minutes, I would get him immediately and rock him back to sleep and lay down with him. He now at 8.5 months takes 2 naps for 1.5 - 2 hours. I put him to sleep earlier 6.30 PM, he eats solids at 5.15-5.

I am a para-medical PhD student, and I used embalmed cadavers for my research. Yesterday I was dissecting blood vessels in muscle tissues. The vessels did have semi-liquid blood inside them. while dissecting I pricked my finger with the scalpel which had some blood on it. The wound wasn't bad, but still bleeding a little. I squeezed some blood out and washed my finger.
I am not sure how well the cadaver is embalmed and I know it has not been screened.
Veggies are iffy and forget anything that is a combination of ingredients. Any non-carbonated liquid makes me feel terrible too- so no water only Ginger Ale. Because of this I have lost 40 pounds. It seems like I only feel good when my stomach is empty so I'd rather not eat then feel sick.
About a month ago I tried an elimination diet. The first thing that I eliminated was wheat. I felt about 65% better, but am still getting sick after eating at certain times.
ve been taking Prevacid for 2 days and its helping though I still take Gaviscon liquid in the morning and when I go to bed. Today my stomach has been making noises and when the cramps peak, there is a gurgling noise and it feels good, like pressure is being released. Any ideas what this could be or suggestions for natural remedies? I hate to be dependent on medication...
Everytime the dr would touch my stomach I would get a real strong pain I would even cry, then the dr said about irritable bowel syndrome, gave me meds to help with the pain. Nothing had seem to work but in oct the dr found something else called crystals in my bladder that were ready to.cut my bladder open. I got scared n confused. Theyve try treatment different times and nothing then the dr said about me also having auto immune disease, I had no idea what that was.

I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way.
As the title said, I am a 50 year old healthy female(with normal BMR).
I used to have bad heartburn years ago, but was able to treat it with change in diet and prevacid. I actually haven't taken this medication for a few years. Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked.
