Prevacid heart palpitations

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid heart palpitations

prevacid

Avatar f tn He went to ER and to the cardiologist more than once to be checked out and they did EKGs, echocardiogram tests, etc. and could not come up with any heart cause for the palpitations. He worried that maybe the Nexium or Prevacid, etc. might be causing or aggravating the palpitations. My Mom suggested he try just taking sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) instead of pills when he had heartburn symptoms. He made the switch and says he doesn't have palpitations anymore. Just a thought...
Avatar n tn I know when I used to take it, it caused my heart rate to go up. I read on a site it can cause heart problems along with nexium.
Avatar m tn After a couple of weeks I started having heart palpitations, sometimes for 9 straight hours. After decreasing my dosage back to 20 mg once daily, the palpitations stopped. The doctor now wants me to take Prevacid, but I am worried about the side effects. Anyone have a bad experience with Prevacid?
Avatar m tn Later in the day in reading about hiatus hernias I found some info indicating a possible link (in some cases) between the vagus nerve, heart palpitations and the hernia itself. Co-incidentially I have noticed that often the VT runs - 5-10 beats- occur when I am sitting at my computer, leaning forward. While the endocrinologist recommended medication for the acid reflux, he did say the the hernia was fairly large and down the road I might need to have it repaired.
1551963 tn?1302292732 i suffered with acid reflux for years and then i got on some prilosec and my symptoms went away but i started getting bad head aches and it felt like my heart was skipping so i went to the doc and he said i had high blood preasure but my colesteral was good. Avatar n tn A deficiency can cause muscle weakness, heart palpitations, tachycardia and cardiomyopathy. The carnitine deficiency came on at the same time I became ill with the Lyme and may have always been there, but the Lyme triggered it and sent it reeling. I had severe anxiety, but whether that was from the Lyme or other related symptoms, I don't know. I do know the anxiety has improved since treatment. You are young to have that problem. Do you have a family history of heart issues?
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar f tn I'm 17+ weeks and been having heart burn like every 20 mins, tums help me out alot but how much of it can I take? Will anything else help relieve heart burn?
Avatar f tn m 28 years old and pregnant 24 weeks along I also posted a similar question in the heart disease forum and I have recently been to my doctor and emergency room with complaints of chest tightness all the way up to my throat, shortness of breath, heart palpitations (fluttering) constant burping (bloating in my upper stomach) and the feeling that something is in the throat. I have also been feeling very weak and I should also add that I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well.
Avatar m tn I started having PAC’s, afib (3 to 8 beats at a time based on a 2-week heart monitor test) and arrhythmias (or palpitations), sometimes lasting 45 min to an hour. I can’t say for sure if afib is involved in my arrhythmia episodes or not. I have some acid reflux and I have a sliding hiatal hernia. My evidence suggests that the herniated stomach is sometimes brushing against the heart and that the acid reflux is irritating the vagal nerve in the esophagus/heart area.
4121556 tn?1350428560 I occasionally get a sudden rush of aic in my stomache, which seems to rise up into the chest sometimes, then I am short of breath, with strong palpitations. There is no particular time this happens, nor any particular food. Am on Omeparazol 20mgs, dail, ongoing. I take gaviscon when I get these attacks, and they subside after 20 minutes. Could they be related to the Vagus Nerve? I sometimes get AF without an acid attack. Any ideas or suggestions welcome, no medic seems to know.
Avatar n tn Palpitations can be due to hyperthyroidism(overactive thyroid), arrhythmias (altered electrical system of the heart), certain medications, heart failure, anemia and low blood sugar. It can be aggravated by exercise, fever, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and dehydration. Anxiety, fear or stress can cause palpitations. Would suggest holter monitoring, blood tests to rule out anemia/low blood sugars and to check to see if any medications are causing your symptoms.
Avatar m tn The slightest bit of anxiety or stress, especially from my girlfriend will set off palpitations at least. I am really worried that it is heart-related because of the chest pain and odd heartbeat. I don't know anymore if anxiety could be causing my symptoms, or if my symptoms are causing anxiety.
Avatar m tn I have never had tenderness during a Gallbladder attack .. the tenderness, for me, comes the next day. If it's infected, then probably you'd have tenderness immediately but I'm not a doctor. Sounds like, from the symtpoms of drinking and the center chest pain that maybe you have bad GERD going on & the doc has you on meds for it. Gallbladder can also mess up your GI tract and cause these symptoms, too. It's a double edged sword. .
Avatar n tn I am a 27 year old female who has recently, in just the past 3 months started with heart palpitations. I have an aunt on my mothers side who has heart palpitations and my grandfather on my mothers side died of a heart attack. I have no insurance so I don't know if I need to see a Dr. or if this is normal. About every 2 to 3 days I start out of nowhere with a heartbeat that skips around the 9th to 13th beat.
Avatar f tn Im 30 weeks and everything gives me heart burn even juice... the only thing that doesn't give me heart burn is water what can i do?
Avatar f tn Hello all! I'm a 27 yr old married man with a 6week old baby girl! I have anxiety and panic disorder. My gp tells me I'm healthy as a horse, besides my slightly elevated blood pressure. I take 20mg benicar, Prevacid, and 5mg buspirone twice daily. I had a stress test about a year ago that came back good. A couple weeks ago I wore a 24hr holter monitor because I was feeling like I was missing a breath or my heart was skipping! It is an odd sensation.
Avatar m tn I took prescription Prevacid until I realized it may interfere with absorption of heart meds. Fourth....I finally drove in my head (after I realized I should not die from these) that hey my heart is going flipping nuts, I don't like it but if I die right now I just die and then I won't have to worry about it! The worse thing is I might just drop over dead, so be it! A big help for me was I downloaded some hypnosis for anxiety and listened every day at lunch for a year.
Avatar f tn The gastro doc said I had mild gastritis and GERD (even tho I never have heartburn), he removed a benign nodule from my esophagus and said I had diverticuli that were not inflamed. About 2 weeks later I had severe chest pain and heart pounding. Went to ER and everything was OK. Then I started having PSVT (160 - 190 bpm)--once they were brought on by burping and once by bending over. These episodes became more frequent with runs of A-FIB. (These beats were caught on an event monitor.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar m tn I started noticing heart palpitations when I graduated college. It seems like my palpitations are getting worse and have now flat lined. So I do not sense that the palpitations are getting worse. I visited my doctors about them and they put me on a holter monitor and they didn't have a solution for my heart palpitations. So they decided to put me on beta blocker (Lowest Dose- Half of 25MG), which has helped a lot with my heart palpitations. I can now exercise without any palpitations.
Avatar f tn Today, however, I felt no pain five minutes after taking the Percocet, and my vision was also off, which will happen after a while. I started having heart palpitations and then felt nauseous, which never happens when I take Oxycodone. After about 45 minutes I noticed I was starting to shake. I was terrified. With the Erythromycin, if I don't eat for two hours I feel like I'm absolutely starving.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 27 year old female, who just recently started having heart palpitations. I've had EKG's and an echo cardiogram, but my cardiologist says it's stress induced. She also told me to avoid caffeine and alcohol, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. I've been pretty good about all of those things, trying to reduce stress in my life, but I've felt palpitations everyday for the past 3 and a half months, since the day they started.
