Prevacid gastritis

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid gastritis

prevacid

Avatar n tn I have been suffering for over a year now and still have not come to any conclusions as to my problem. I had been on Pariete, Prevacid, etc. etc. Have had endoscopy, colonoscopy. The endoscopy found an inflammation on my duodenum, colonoscopy found nothing. I have been sick on and off now for about 2 weeks now. Here are the symptoms I am currently experiencing with no relief in sight.
Avatar n tn pylori at that time. He put me on Prevacid and I have been on it untill about 6 months ago. The prevacid was no longer working that well so the doctor switched me to Protonix.
Avatar n tn Then I started to feel a little more burpy and had some stomach discomfort and hunger pains. Also a little nauseous. Went to doctor and she thought I had gastritis. She did blood work to test for bacteria. It was negative. She told me to take prevacid once a day no matter how I felt and to avoid OJ and tomatoes. So I did and it helped. I switched from prevacid to DGL and that helped as well. Then I started to feel a dull pain under my ribcage on the right side. It would come and go.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing symptoms of gastritis since June of last year. My only symptom is nausea. Mainly it is very slight, but on occasion it will flare up pretty bad. I have not vomited...only nausea. I had my gallbladder checked for stones via ultrasound. There were no stones. I also don't experience any pain. I was placed on Prevacid for treatment. While it has helped immensely, I still don't feel at 100%. I tried to stop the medication after 4 months and my symptoms came back.
963268 tn?1312900315 Today, I take one Prilosec, 20-mg, and I have no pain. If you have gastritis and are not taken medication specifically for gastritis, your stomach lining can become worst, and you might develop an ulcer. If I were you, I would require your doctor, not his office staff, to confirm whether or not you have/had an ulcer caused by H. pylori? Also, inquire whether an acid reducer like Prilosec, Zantac, Nexium, Prevacid is prescribed for you?
Avatar f tn I'm just about to start treating my gastritis, but want to make sure I'm taking the right thing to fight it. Do mastic gum, DGL licorice, slippery elm, and OTC products like Prilosec or Prevacid, etc. cause loose stools? I'm prone to loose stools and don't want the problem to get worse. Thanks for any help and suggestions!
Avatar f tn I just turned 50 and was having upper right quadrant pain that I thought may be related to being on 4 antibiotics in 2 months, so the doctor ordered both tests. The gastro doc said I had mild gastritis and GERD (even tho I never have heartburn), he removed a benign nodule from my esophagus and said I had diverticuli that were not inflamed. About 2 weeks later I had severe chest pain and heart pounding. Went to ER and everything was OK.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with abdominal pain for about a year and a half now, i had an endoscopy in January 2009 and was diagnosed with mild Gastritis and Reflux, i was given Nexium to take which i took for 4 months and felt better. After a couple of months it came back again but felt worse so i was told by the doctor to go back on Nexium again which i had taken for 3 months and the pain and burning had not gone away.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Gastritis about 1 yer ago. gastritis is gone more or less, but I still had intermittent abdominal pains (dull, not severe, scale 1/10). The pain mostly is located around gallbladder position, but sometime could be left upper Quadrant, below the rib. The pain feels like poking and only lasts few second, but it will come back in 5 minutes or 1 hour, or maybe 1 day. Become worse in daytime, after some fatty food, but NEVER had any pain during the nights.
Avatar m tn After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.
Avatar n tn Does any think that it could be caused by the doxycycline, has anyone heard of gastritis from taking an antibiotic for such short period of time? -- I was prescribed Prevacid. If eat something "fattening" the pain does not travel all over like before but rather stays stationed on the left upper abdominal region. If anyone can answer the question its highly appreciated, any advice on how to treat gastritis is welcomed and anyone who had a similar experience please share.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms and findings are consistent with alkaline reflux gastritis. The Carafate and Prevacid would be a typical treatment for this. When the medical therapy fails the alternative is a surgical procedure that disconnects the stomach from the duodenum so there can no longer be any bile refluxing back into the stomach. This is a fairly drastic step for a problem that we can't actually prove.

619150 tn?1247048274 Colon was fine, was diagnosed with Gastritis. Was given PrevPac, while taking that I had upset stomach in morning. But after vomiting one morning that went away. Started to feel good again. Then PrevPac ran out... Started to feel ill again. Now on Prevacid. I was 220 lb when this all started in Sept. It lingered at around 195 for awhile when I was feeling better. Now I am down to 188. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Recently (1 yr) getting worse. Also horrible anxiety. Feel like I have gastritis and ulcers. Pain always in the same two spots. Worried about stomach cancer because it has gone untreated until now, for like 5 years.
Avatar n tn Hi Mitch: I really feel for you and can relate BIG time!!! You just have me beat by one yr. as far as feeling badly. I hope the carafate works, Is that for bile reflux?? If so it may help as I have read that (prilosec, nexium, prevacid) I think they call them PPI's dont work on Bile. What is unbelievable is if the Dr. see's the bile WHY do they always prescribe the ppi ??? Now I have learned on this board it can do more harm then good!!!
4121556 tn?1350428560 I have acid reflux and afib and they are definitely related. I am taking Prevacid but sometimes wonder if it has any effect on my irregular beats. I was on Zantac for about a year, then my anti-arrhythmic meds had to be increased and I had to go back to a PPI. I will try the gaviscon and see if that helps. Do you know if it interacts with warfarin? It seems many drugs do. Stress (lots of adrenaline) brings on my af episodes, as well as caffeine, spicy food, too little sleep.
Avatar f tn Stomach redness is inflammation of the stomach, usually called gastritis. Gastritis can be caused my alcohol, H pylori, certain illnesses, certain medications, or it can be idiopathic (no known cause). The hiatal hernia can cause heartburn which might be the cause of your pain. In this cause, you could try a PPI like prevacid or prilosec to see if that helps. I think that in the future this will improve a lot.
Avatar f tn A glass of.milk will settle it too... But.I take.
Avatar f tn I'm a 33 year old female. 3 nights ago, I was woken up by intense stomach pains (right in the bottom/center of my ribs) that felt like they were coming in waves lasting about 3-5 seconds. I was eating Gaviscon tablets all night, which helped for about 25 minutes at a time. I have absolutely NO history of stomach issues or even heartburn. I've been taking Prevacid for 2 days and its helping though I still take Gaviscon liquid in the morning and when I go to bed.
Avatar n tn I have recently been diagnosed with a small hiatial hernia. I take prevacid twice a day. Could this be reducing the acid too much or destroying good bacteria? Also I eat extremely bland every meal, try to avoid gaseous food and all dairy products. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this severe bloating? Oh and I seem to have mild pain or discomfort in the upper mid-section of abdomen often.
Avatar f tn If you have been on a PPI for at least 3 months--if I understood you right---it should have cleared up your gastritis. I have had gastritis in the past--cleared up with prilosec---used to feel like I was having a knife shoved in my gut. I had a set of twins a few years later and ended up with really painful reflux--rarely heartburn, just the kind of pain that would send someone to the ER thinking they were having a heart attack.
Avatar f tn I have started taking prevacid and it has helped a little, but iam now worried that I have let this go for too long and have maybe developed stomach cancer. I smoke 1-2 cigarettes a day and will be quitting this week. I know that leaving ulcers and gastritis untreated can turn into stomach cancer. I have an EGD scheduled for Tuesday and I am terrified of what I will find. My anxiety seems to have made everything so much worse. Can hardly sleep or even work. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn Not feeling too great right now. I have bad gastritis, thought it was triggered from being hyper, but labs are OK. (Last time I went hyper I had a really bad case of gastritis) My problem is I can't find anything to take. It seems everything makes me feel sicker or causes anxiety. Does anyone else have problems with meds with Hashi's?
Avatar f tn Then I developed stomach problems. I have been told gastritis or ulcer and was given prevacid and nexium. I also developed allergies all of a sudden to dust, pollen..pretty much anything outside. One morning I woke up and back of head was asleep and the next day the right side of my lips were tingling....so I went to a Neurologist whom is doing MRIs of brain, neck and spine next week and checking for MS.......
Avatar n tn Nausea is a common symptom of gastritis, which is inflammation of the inner lining of the stomach. Gastritis also causes increased acid and gas formation causing acid reflux. Acute gastritis also stimulates a nerve called the Vagus nerve. This nerve carries sensation from all the internal abdominal organs as well as from the throat and respiratory tract. In gastritis, the Vagus nerve gets irritated.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since January I have been having problem when I drink alcohol. I INSTANTLY retain water and can't pee it out! For years, whenever I drank alcohol I would pee it out all night and even feel lighter the next day. Now, after just a few sips I can feel the water coming on, and I will be a few lbs heavier over the next 2-3 days. It's horrible to not be able to enjoy drinking anymore and I love doing it socially! What can be causing this?
