Avatar n tn Daughter is already on Neocate and Prevacid twice daily. Doctors at hospital and GI doc said they've never seen anything like it. She has mild reflux at best. She's had endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ph monitoring, MRI, ECHO, Biopsies of colon and esophagus, and numerous blood tests and urine tests. They can find nothing wrong with her. Now they want to put in a G-tube in a week or so. Right now she's feeding through an NG tube. I'm so upset I don't know what to do.

Avatar m tn She was a preemie of 34 weeks (was not on a resporator), has had stomach surgery (nissen wrap) and a G-Tube for over a year and a half (tube just removed this past Dec.). She's on Prevacid, Zyrtec, Singular and a food based multi-vit. I don't know if her meds. would cause this our not, none of the side effect from what I remember reading about said anything about shaking or tremors. Thanks In Advance!!
Avatar n tn I will ask my doctor, thanks! She (my ped) did bring that up yesterday when we spoke on the phone. I didn't ask what type of procedure it is. Do you know if it's considered a surgery? Thanks again for responding.
900434 tn?1241971535 My daughter was a full term healthy baby. She was fine her first couple of weeks at home until all of a sudden at 5 weeks, she started vomiting everything. I tried Pedialyte and that came back up too so I was told by my pediatrician to take her to the children's hospital emergency room on March 27th and they wanted to keep her overnight. Overnight turned into two weeks. They gave her an NJ tube because she started losing weight and wasn't keeping anything down.
183933 tn?1290216962 t think it seemed loose, but that my stomach did produce more acid than he would like to see. He has me taking 2 prevacid 30miligrams a day. Once in the morning and once at night. The strange thing about my issue is that over the past two years, it only presents itself as a stomach ache and it really doesn't matter what I eat. In fact, I have it in the morning a lot. When it comes on I will have it for months and all of a sudden it will go away randomly for several months.
Avatar n tn he had a procedure today and is still on hte vent but they feel this is the answer to our prayers. at the other hospital he ended up having the fundo and a g tube after no test were done to support it. so now the drs at egleston feel it may have not helped doing that procedure he may have not needed it at all. i just dont understand how top drs at mcg missed that his vocal cords were not moving and this strider he has had was getting worse. it took us to get him out of there.
Avatar f tn I've never had one personally, only worked with children that had them. So if you have any questions that don't require a personal perspective, let me know and I'll try to answer them for you. Avatar f tn My son came home at 5 mos old 22 hours a day on g-tube feeding - weaned off within 4 months. My daughter, adopted at 3, is just now at almost 10 years old being weaned off tube feedings (1/3 of large bowel removed). It can be a slow process. I'm looking for direction myself.....it's just between me weighing them as I wean them to oral feeding........
120574 tn?1240767840 Had to have a G tube put in, have 3 blockages. Was unable to eat, now on TPN iv at home. Is there life after the G tube. Will I ever have this removed?
296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
Avatar n tn The GI doctor may want to do an EGD test, where they look with a small tube w/camera at your esophagus, stomach and your duodenum (a part of your small intestine) for any abnormalities and then prescribe treatment according to what they find.
1785493 tn?1314906051 Welcome to the gastroenterology community! How long have you had the J-tube? Have they checked the placement of the J tube? Do you have any granulation tissue?
Avatar f tn My daughter is a very active 28 months old and is presently on a g tube. She has been diagnosed wiht GERD and gastroparesis. In the past she has been on a j tube but has now been put back on a g tube which is obviously easier to deal with when she pulls it out. My question is when she eats she appears to be choking but never really does choke.
Avatar m tn My husband has a G-tube for all food, meds, hydration resulting from radiation to tongue years ago. His major problem is aspiration pneumonia since the valve to his airway(s) does not close and is in open position constantly. Reflux of food and gases causes repeated pneumonia episodes, the latest resulting in more than 2 months in 4 hospitals and extreme loss of weight. He is facing jejunostomy in the very near future. We are told that later, fundoplication may be great help to him.
Avatar n tn I work with mentally handicapped adults, and today at work a patient ripped his feeding tube (known as a G-tube) in a violent incident. I got some of the secretions that were on the feeding tube on my hand and a few minutes later scratched the inside of my nose (no! I was not picking ;) I did not draw any blood that I can identify, but I noticed that my nail was pointy (that's why I realized I scratched myself). I wanted to see if this type of thing would be considered risky.
Avatar n tn Yes it sounds like you should consider a feeding tube for your daughter. A PEG tube will probably help her a lot. You can also try a PEG tube before deciding to do a nissen. I have a GJ tube so let me know if you have any problems.
Avatar f tn The doctor took me into surgery almost immediately. He removed the pregnancy, the fallopian tube, and the part of the uterus that was affected. The doctor says I can have children in the future but will require a c-section. He is hopeful, but I am concerned. Especially if this happens again on the other side. Then my chances of future pregnancies are gone. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy since having a cornual pregnancy surgically removed?
213739 tn?1215486009 Finally, at 12 months, he got a G-tube. We tried every kind of bottle, cup, etc. We even tried the finger feeder, the Haberman, you name it...He now is pretty much off the G-tube (only use it for water and medicines) and he drinks out of a dolphin with aquarium tubing that I get from the therapy catalog talk tools. He didn't sit up until he was about 18 months, he crawled at exactly 2, and didn't walk until he was a little over 2 and a half.
Avatar n tn My child has had a g-tube for 6 years because of the ketogenic diet in which she is coming off now, she eats everything, no problem with swallowing, she drinks a whole can of pop at times but how do I get her to drink her whole fluid alotment of 1500ml a day? Or will she pick it up once I can offer her a variety of drinks?
1088527 tn?1425313375 Higher dose this time so hopefully some improvement. Next monday I go for the g tube and will have a nurse teach me how to use it in tuesday. I will be using 5 cans a day which equalls about 1200 calories a day 4 feedings. Plus an additional 360 mls of fluid by mouth. Considering I eat one small meal a day I hope my stomach will be able to handle all this . I will still enjoy my thanksgiving dinner will probably not use the tube that day so I can enjoy without beinging too full.
Avatar f tn My ENT doctor had me get a barium swallow (stomach through larynx or most of larynx) which looked normal, and will be doing a more thorough exam (down-through-the-nose tube light, in-office); my mouth looked normal enough. She says may be from GERD, but I only get acid reflux once or twice a year, though when I do it is up into the mouth, no heartburn.
