I have had ulcers, bacteria infection in my stomach, and several other gastro problems for a little over a year. I go to a gastro dr. Before I started hydro I had to take 2 prevacid 30m a day. (drs orders) I am very careful what I eat. After I started hydro my acid reflux was so much better...weird huh? Now off hydro 5 days, taking prevacid again. I will deal with acid reflux and take my prevacid..Stress does make it flare up really bad...so just maybe I can get it back under control soon...
Christine, what pills are you taking and what liquid? What autoimmune condition did the doctor mention? More specific information is really necessary to begin to give you a hand.
Thanks a lot, Doctor. The tenderness has been much better for the past four days or so, so that is encouraging. I've been on Prevacid for 11 days, but I'm still getting hunger pangs every two hours or so after eating. When can I expect these to start to diminish?
Hi , My husband had the same exact problem,he needed to drink fluids all the time whenever he put food in his mouth to push it down this went on for a long time finally he went for his regular blood work and i mentioned to the doctor well he had to go for the test where they put a camera down your throat to see inside your stomache i cant remember the name anyway they found little ulcers that were inflamed so they put him on prevacid he takes 1 a day in the morning every day, its been 3yrs and
Hi,did you ever have the test done i forget the name its when they put a camera down and look inside your stomache,my husband had it done it turned out to be little ulcers that were very sore almost like a cut, so he is on prevacid,he goes for this testing 1 yr and all the ulcers are gone and he doesnt get acid reflex and it doesnt hurt going down in his chest when he would eat. my advice is to get it checked out it doesnt hurt they put you to sleep it only takes half hr.
I called my drs office today about my heart burn. I was taking prevacid before I got my positive hpt and wasn't sure if I could continue taking it so I haven't for the last 4 days and have been suffering so bad. I have acid reflux and ulcers so tums never helped. They said that prevacid is safe to take. Plus it is otc so no prescription needed.
I was worried because on the box it says to only take for 14days. Dr said that is just for people who have ulcers and are taking it instead of seeing a dr about it. I have had intense cronic heartburn my entire pg. It was so bad it would keep me up half the night and I would force myself to throw up, just trying to get any kind of relief. It was one of the first pg symptoms I had. For me, Prilosec is a miracle drug. I can't imagine being pg without it.
Early February I had an upper GI done when I had incredible stomach pain and they found two duodenal ulcers. I was prescribed Prevacid 30mg once a day and after a while the symptoms went away. Two weeks later, they came back worse than ever and I went to see a specialist who upped my dose to 30mg twice a day and carafate. I have an endsocopy scheduled for the end of August but I'm barely functioning because of my fear of this being stomach cancer.

he tells me i have ulcers in my asophagus.and to double up on the prevacid.i dont really think he understands.all the medicines hes been prescribing me is not even working,.i need some advise from anybody thats had problems with their gallbladder.or have had surgery.the signs its my gallbladder,.somethings gotta give.i lived with this pain too long.and cannot take it anymore.
Ulcers can be tender if you have other symptoms as belching, bloating maybe some nausea... possible it is an ulcer. I would suggest some xrays to rule things out, its never fun to guess whats wrong causes you stress and anxiety that your body doesnt need at this state.
Endoscopy looks at tummy ulcers and irritations of the upper digestive tract. Colonoscopy looks at the lower, which you've already had that test, plus the small bowl series. Some scans can find the ulcers you are looking for, too. But if your tummy or guts had TORN, you'd be unbelievably sick, with a temperature, and in the emergency room.
I think your doc's notation of some gallbladder dysfunction is probably causing the acidity.
Have you switched to the Nexium yet? My son was also on Prevacid and when they did his scope, they found ulcers, esophagitis, etc. and that was ON the Prevacid. Once we switched to Nexium, we waited about 4 months and did the scope again and everything had cleared up. If you haven't switched, try switching and see if that in itself provides any relief as Nexium seemed to work much better for us than the Prevacid.
My daughter (age 27) has been on prevacid for quiet some time for indigestion. She had lunch a few days ago and about an hour later began to have diarrhea and vomiting every 10 to 15 minutes for about 6 to 7 hrs accompanied with severe pain on her right side, under her ribs. She spent several hours in an ER and after blood test, ultrasound, iv and medications she was told that everything was fine but to follow up with her doctor the next day.
I have started taking prevacid and it has helped a little, but iam now worried that I have let this go for too long and have maybe developed stomach cancer. I smoke 1-2 cigarettes a day and will be quitting this week. I know that leaving ulcers and gastritis untreated can turn into stomach cancer. I have an EGD scheduled for Tuesday and I am terrified of what I will find. My anxiety seems to have made everything so much worse. Can hardly sleep or even work. Any ideas?
This pill, which should have stayed in my esophagus for 5-6 minutes, was in there for 3 seconds and pulled AMAZING pics. It diagnosed Gerd, I had esophagitis, two ulcers stage 2 (out of 5) so mild, and it showed I have a hiatal hernia. It also showed that I still had alot of food in my stomach, after fasting, so he thinks I may have gastroparesis.....
Thank you for saying it is the Protonix. Since I stopped taking it 7 days ago I am finally starting to finally feel a little better!!! I too agree it was the Protonix. I hae no experience with prevacid but have been taking pepcid nonstop to deal with the acid and it is def helping. Pepcid is in a different family then PPIs. Good Luck I really know how awful this can be and I hope you find some relief.
