prevacid

Avatar n tn I am currently seeing a regular doc and an ENT (I can't see a Gastroenterologist because only certain docs take the type of assistance I am on I have no insurance) . Recently I began having trouble swallowing, like there is a lump in my throat. My regular doctor says "globulus hystericus" from anxiety, however Xanax and Prozac has not made this go away. My ENT says "reflux" and put me on Prevacid which I've been on for two weeks now.
Avatar f tn Hi all. For the past couple months I have experienced EXCESSIVE burping, I will burp all day long. I also have excessive amounts of saliva. Sometimes I have a burning throat & pressure in my chest. Does this sound like GERD or maybe LPR? I don't get the usual heartburn. Please help..
Avatar m tn The last two weeks i been feeling like there is something in the back of my throat which causes me to gag and sometimes vomit my dr gave me prevacid something like that im taking 40mg a day dr said it could be gerd or stress and anxiety which is causing me to have a hard.
Avatar n tn I have been having a lump in my throat for several months. After thinking I was getting food caught in my throat and even getting an endoscopy I've begun to think it may be food allergies. I do not find it hard to breath though. Can a food allergy symptom be a lump in the throat or chest without feeling hard to breath? I usually feel this just after eating and I feel very nauseous some of the time. I have a bit of a feeling of pins and needles in my throat sometimes.
6780206 tn?1386121349 Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience here. I also suffer from GERD. I was misdiagnosed with a hital hernia back in 2006 and a ENT prescribed me prevacid. When in fact my symptoms were from a allergic reaction to allergy drops a allergist put me on and I had to put them under my tongue. Needless to say, I was naive and believed as we usually do when we are young a Dr. therefore, I continued to take the prevacid, in which later was switched to protonix.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am hoping someone on here who suffers with LPR may be able to help me. I have been suffering with various throat related health problems for months and as I am an allergy sufferer, I went down that route and saw an ENT, he treated my allergy issues etc but I still have a feeling of mucus in the throat, a painful kinda burning feeling deep down in my throat which makes the side of my throat/neck ache and feel uncomfortable.
Avatar n tn I have been to see 4 different ENT doctors and 1 suggested LPR or silent reflux (when you look down my nose into my throat it does not present as LPR) - I have been taking 30 mg of Prevacid twice a day for 3 months to no benefit. I have had 2 separate 24 hr. PH tests - one off meds and 2 months later one on meds. I am not refluxing on meds and only refluxed at night off meds - not out of the ordinary range when I have no symptoms. I have also done all the lifestyle modicfications - i.
Avatar f tn My mother suffered severely from Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) for 5 years. She now suffers neither. Throwing away PPI nexium and antacid gaviscon and taking digestive enzyme supplements (helps break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (helps with the stomach's production of hydrochloric acid), GERD and LPR were gone in a few weeks!
Avatar n tn Ten years ago, I developed a second ulcer, and I have taken one OTC Prilosec a day for 10 years with no problem. Why not try an experiment and take one Prilosec or Prevacid a day for 4 days to learn whether your heartburn has stopped? The stronger pill, Nexium, has just become available OTC and may deserve your consideration. This experiment will determine whether your stomach lining might have been damaged if you take pain pills with only a sip of liquid.

Avatar f tn On June 11, 2010, I had Barium Swallow test for stomach pains. Results were fine.June 21, 2010, I had an Endoscopy also for stomach pains.Test showed Gastritis and Diverticulosis-all fairly common.A short time later,I noticed that my swallowing felt slower. I then went on to develop a wretched sore throat that went on for 2-3 months.
Avatar m tn I am suffering from laryngiopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease for 4 months. I can't face hiv test and it gives me lot of anxiety. I had Mono like illness 5 weeks after sexual exposure. I am going to try and test though I just have a quick question about my symptom timeline and if this illness Iv been diagnosed with. Is silent reflux a sign and symptom of HIV? I red this http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn My mother suffered severely from Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) for 5 years, gastritis for 25 years (worsened on nexium) and polyps (unknown time); polyps cut out. Was on and off tagament for 20 years; nexium for 5 years. Side effects were numerous and life threatening. The drugs were not working well and eventually not at all.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and LPR for almost 2 months or maybe more than that and I was really curious when will these stop. Im scared that there will be a time that I won't be able to speak anymore. I was also taking medications that lessen the symptoms in short amount of time then they will go back again. I've always thought that I would be experiencing the process all over again. I hope you can give me any advices or tips to help me completely prevent my illness.

Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering with LPR for a year and a half and I'm TIRED of it. I NEED my voice back so I can sing again. I have stress and anxiety problems and I feel like it's not just something that makes LPR get worse but perhaps it is the culprit! Do all of you LPR sufferers have stress/anxiety problems? I think it has something to do with the short breaths making the diaphragm tense plus all of the other tension and also indigestion all combined from stress/anxiety.
1985662 tn?1327523894 It also feels like food is stuck in my chest or throat.I tried taking prilosec, zegrid, prevacid and tums and nothing seems to be working good enough or fast enough. My chest burns like all day even if I drink water. My throat is really sore and it hurts aswell as my chest feels sore like it has been through some kind of horrific trama.Im scared because I do some researchand I see that it can lead to cancer which scares me alot cause Im only 24.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
Avatar f tn I had been on GERD meds for a long time, protonix, prevacid, zantac etc. I did not realize this could cause malabsorption of vitamins and am chronically deficient in iron, vitamin d, magnesium etc and was put on prescription vitamins. I stopped taking the acid reflux meds for a few months and now am waking up a lot at night (in addition to my sleep apnea), have gunk in my throat and feel stuff coming back up again.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I was just diagnosed yesterday with LPR by a swallowing disorders ent specialist. I have to undergo a ph test to determine breakthrough reflux while being on 40mg of protonix for the last few months. Truthfully, what can I expect to experience? And any tips or suggestions on how to deal with this diagnosis? Thanks again!
Avatar m tn I wanted to share my LPR story, and hopefully begin a fresh thread for LPR sufferers. I have seen 100s of posts on regarding LPR, but found none by people that have actually cured their symptoms. If you are out there, please post replies - these are important for moral and confidence building. June, 2013 Here’s my story. My symptoms started all of a sudden - I choked on a bit of water, and when I coughed it off I tried to burp and realized I couldn't.
Avatar f tn The good news is you can get rid of LPR. My mother had severe LPR and severe GERD for 5 years. Now she suffers neither. By stopping all acid blockers and taking digestive enzyme supplements (helps digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (helps with stomach acid production), both conditions were gone within a few weeks. The extra bonus was that her gastritis is almost gone after a year and a half on these supplements.
Avatar m tn Several times these past two years I've woken up gasping for air. I felt like I was about to suffocate. Eventually, I was able to breathe a bit more and more, and to cough away the phlegm in my airway. I went to an ENT dr who said this was a GERD issue, Acid Reflux. I've been taking medication for that and it may have helped, but I did get another attack today. I've also had a diagnonsis, today, of Bronchitis. I've had the phlegm for around a week now and another ENT dr.
