Prevacid for infants dose

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid for infants dose

prevacid

Avatar f tn Prevacid generally does not come in small enough dosages or under 15mg which is considered a high dose for infants under 6 months of age. 15mg is usually broken into several dosages throughout a 24 hour period so that the infant is not consuming a high amount at one time. *This was the information I was given from my Pediatric GI. I would seriously think about talking to your childs GI about this information if your child is on Prevacid.

Avatar n tn For many years, GER [Gastroesophageal reflux] during infancy and childhood was thought to be a consequence of absent or diminished LES tone [lower esophageal sphincter, which is sometimes also referred to as the Cardiac Sphincter due to its proximity to the heart]. However, studies have shown that baseline LES pressures are normal in pediatric patients, even in preterm infants.
Avatar n tn I have fought taking PPis over the years but when I developed the EE, I had to go on high dose prevacid---30 mgs, 2x daily. I wake up some mornings with stabbing pain in my gut with the first deep breath that I take. I experimented recently afte wakin gup in pain, and didn't ake the prevacid that night. i woke up with no pain in my gut. Has anyone else had a PPI cause them stomach pain? I am also on a swallowed steroid for the EE.
Avatar m tn My 4-month old daughter has acid reflux. She was prescribed Prevacid three weeks ago as she was still irritable after 4-6 weeks of Zantac. After she started Prevacid she was less irritable but developed side-effects including giving up napping during the day and green, mucus-like foul smelling stool (started this week). Oh yeah, she also has a milk protein based sensitivity. My wife is still nursing but has given up all dairy and dairy-like foods.
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

290867 tn?1333569278 I am just so thrilled for you and Julian! If the dose is high enough, you should see a completely different baby in about two weeks!!! What dose did they put him on, by the way? The other thing I remember about prevacid is sometimes it's best to split the dose 2x a day (how many times per day are you supposed to give it?) If you do split it, give him one dose in the morning and one before bed.
Avatar m tn Hi - For the past 2 years or so I have been taking low dose of Atenalol (Tenormin) daily to regulate my SVTs which I've had for years, and it has helped a lot. The problem is that it upsets my stomach (have all kinds of gastric problems) so bad that I feel like i want to die. Starts up as regular as clockwork 1 and 1/2 hours after I take it. Feels like somebody has grabbed a big handful of my 'guts' and twists and keeps doing it for hours, and I also feel puffy when I breath.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
Avatar m tn After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker.
4268628 tn?1375041176 Part of why I love breastfeeding. Grab her, say she needs to eat, and go hide in your room for a while. I'm almost certain prevacid for infants is prescription only so insurance should cover it so BS that they won't.
Avatar f tn (I) 5. Persons who remain at risk for HBV infection such as infants of HBsAg-positive mothers, health care workers, dialysis patients, and sexual partners of carriers should be tested for response to vaccination. (III) ● Postvaccination testing should be performed at 9 to 15 months of age in infants of carrier mothers and 1-2 months after the last dose in other persons. (III) ● Follow-up testing of vaccine responders is recommended annually for chronic hemodialysis patients. (III) 6.
Avatar f tn They have done an EEG while I was sleeping, an EKG, and a couple of blood tests. I have been on Celexa aka citalopram for several months, my dose was recently upped to 25 miligrams. I was briefly on Abilify, however, that was after the twitching started. I have also taken Tums, Advair, FloNase, Prevacid, and omeprozole in the past 365 days any ideas?
Avatar n tn Hi, I took the double dose of prevacid and I was fine last night, but woke up this am with bad watery diarrhea and some nausea. I know Prevacid can cause diarrhea, but this is a bad case of it. Think it could be related? Im definitly calling my dr today to set up an appt to discuss,,,,thinking I should stop the double dose until I talk with him. I was on prevacid for years, my body should be used to it!

889551 tn?1416184483 It was something that we had kept an eye out for because her pediatrician said that she was at increased risk to develop it. We had to special order a chamber/mask for her inhaler (flovent) because the pharmacies don't stock them. I tried to give her her first dose of it, and she kept pulling it off and trying to lick or eat it. I have to give her two puffs twice a day, and I'm not sure how I'm going to manage this if she keeps pulling it off.
