Hi I have had GERD for a few years now. I've never had halitosis. Recently my reflux started acting up, so i doubled my prevacid. I'm not sure what is causing my very horrid halitosis. I have figured out it is not dental related. In fact when I burp, I can feel the hot yucky gas coming up from my stomach. A recent google showed that prevacid can cause a side effect of halitosis. Other comments insist it is the GERD but I am not entirely convinced.
And belching. For the next week, I tried Xantac and Gas-X (to no avail). Everything I ate caused more gas pressure/pain.
On Friday, I went to a nurse practioner who recommended Prevacid (30MG). I went for it and Saturday and Sunday felt SO much better (minus some dizziness and lower bowel pressure yesterday). This morning, I took my Prevacid (3rd day) and got SO dizzy and SO nauseous. 30 minutes later, I threw up a little bit but not much at all (more dry heaving and a bit of bile).
I've been having acid reflux like symptoms off and on for the past 8-9 months I'd say. It started with the burning in the throat, and the heartburn. By February, my stomach started seeming to bloat really bad after meals. I went to see an Urgent Care doctor and they prescribed me with Prevacid, as well as trying to order some xrays, a barium swallow, etc. But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such.
The GI doctor told me that the best he can do is keep me on Prevacid for my gas issues. Other drugs I am on are coated asperin, crestor for cholesterol, metoprolol blood thinner, norvasc to lower my blood pressure,as mentioned lasix and slow-K for the fluid, at night I take a Ativan sleeping pill. For my digestive issues I take prevacid, gaz-x and malox. None of these seem to take full effect and reduce the gas to the point where I can sleep comfortably.
dazy401, I too am experiencing the same problem. Maybe we can shed some light on eachother's situation. Here's how mine started and where I am today. BTW, I have no history of any health problems.
Out of the blue 2 wks ago, I started getting bloated and short of breath. It continued until it got worse 3 days later when I started to panic because I couldn't breath without taking a deep breath every few seconds. Chest X-Ray, EKG and D-Dimer tests all came back negative.
I have been suffering from gassy stomach (gas pain) and mild/medium heartburn for couple of weeks and have been taking (RX) CARAFATE for about 10 days and today I am taking PREVACID as well, my condition shows no improvement, does anyone knows or had suffered from the same problem? I don't want to go seeing kind doctor afraid he would put me through all kind of test, I need help.

She did blood work to test for bacteria. It was negative. She told me to take prevacid once a day no matter how I felt and to avoid OJ and tomatoes. So I did and it helped. I switched from prevacid to DGL and that helped as well. Then I started to feel a dull pain under my ribcage on the right side. It would come and go. Never sever, just annoying. Still have it on and off. Also have pain in my right flank area. I had an ultrasound done of my liver and it was fine.
Hello it is possible that it could be celiac disease, crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, IBS, appendicitis, or the most likely cause is gas. Most people aren't aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble.
Hi all. For the past couple months I have experienced EXCESSIVE burping, I will burp all day long. I also have excessive amounts of saliva. Sometimes I have a burning throat & pressure in my chest. Does this sound like GERD or maybe LPR? I don't get the usual heartburn. Please help..

Have you had a breath test for H. pylori done?
46 is early for colorectal cancer, nausea is not a typical symptom. If pain was from cancer, you'd probably bleed from the intestine. Maybe it's good if you have a hemmocult test for hidden blood in the stool.
I Believe smoking to certain people more than others can be a very harmful and as for me I exercise very steadily and sing and I do a lot of breath control exercises for my singing and play drums very hard and I still lightly smoke cigarette and sometimes while I am active I get a arrhythmia it lasts for 3 or 4 minutes I feel my heart is pounding so fast I could even feel my heart beat in my throat and sometimes I get a panic about it and that will make my heart even go faster but I notice that
Oh dear god I hope someone can help me! I've been excessively burping now for about a year. When it starts, I burp for sometimes up to 10 hours or more a day. This has left me incapable of doing much! I've had upper, lower GI testing and all tests come back fine. I need help... I've been on tons of different meds trying to stop this and nothing is working. The only bit of relief I get is if I lay down on my right side.. and it takes a while before it slows down.
If I were you I would try to go to a ENT or your primary care doc and ask for a prescription for nexium or prevacid or some kind of GERD medication. So many doctors have told me that symptom is because when you eat that it causes acid to come up in your throat and irrates the sinus lining causing excess mucus. I wish this was the problem with me, but I tried the prevacid for almost two weeks with no improvement.

I was given prevacid for 4 weeks and been tested for the H. Pylori virus via urea breath test which was negative. My CT scan was normal except for a few small kidney stones and my ultrasound again revealed the same 3-4mm size gallbladder polyps.
My doctor said I should have my gallbladder removed and referred me to a general surgeon. Since my polyps has not increased in size in 7 months I am worried weather removing my gallbladder is the right move since there no gallstones.
It is thickened to help slow things down but oftentimes it is too harsh for the baby to tolerate the solid foods. Any indication of more gas since rice has been added? The added gas causes reflux flares, too.....
If you go to the health pages at the top of the right side and click it on and then go to an entry about STARTING SOLIDS ... this may help you, too as your baby is at that age and it can get worse or get better when solids are introduced.
It sent me to the ER a year ago, they took an x-ray said i had trapped gas and put me on prevacid for a little while. Well things suddenly got a lot worse about a month ago. Constant pain, nausea, constant strong urge to urinate, extreme fatigue, Not being hungry or feeling full after about 2 bites, when i do eat i usually regret it as the pain becomes worse i have the overwhelming urge to throw up.
I am 25 year old male, father of two young kids, unemployed for a little over a year, went from 140lbs to 180lbs over 5 years.. My question is today is wedesday and on monday i started feeling this weird burning/cold sensation in my stomach probably more in the middle below my chest and the top of my stomach(where u bend when you sit down or bend over). it doesnt hurt its more like if youve pulled a muscle and get that burning sensation when you do so.
