Avatar f tn I started out nursing...the baby began spitting up/vomitting...lost weight..positive for occult blood...tried nutramigen...still occult blood. Saw peds GI..."allergy"...put on elecare...continued vomitting, crying all the time. upper GI series: severe reflux on elecare, prevacid, rice cereal in bottles...finally negative for occult blood. vomitting, lost 5 ounces, crying all the time help? what else could it be? should I go back to nursing?
Avatar f tn This guessing game with DS is just killing me. I remember going through the same with DD (who's 18 months and has been off Prevacid for 2 months now) but with time it was apparent that she had reflux. I have a 1 month old who's been getting progressively worse in terms of sleeping. He strains constantly (I can't recall DD doing that) and he has bowel movements 1x or 2x a day. He's exclusively breastfed. I hear him swallow and he arches his back when he's screaming.
568875 tn?1424397205 so they doc changed his formula to enfamil gentle ease that made him worse (he was on that for 4 days) so she put him on nutramigen and changed the zantac to prevacid. hes been on the formula for 4 days and the prec for 2 days. he is pooping better and he wasnt screaming as much but tonight he started scream at 7pm and it is now 120am and just now starting to settle down. what is wrong with him? should i still give the prev and nutram time to work its way in?
Avatar f tn HELP Please... . Our 7 month old wakes up every 90 minutes due to his silent reflux. The Axid and Prevacid both made his stomach upset worse. So now he's only on Nutramagin formula, rice cereal and fruit. The pediatrician says to make his formula extra thick. His little voice is hoarse all the time. He doesn't have colic. Our lil one is sooo happy until he goes down for a nap or night time sleep. Is there anything else out there? His upper GI was normal.
435139 tn?1255460391 Well, I still have 3 months till my due date but that's okay. I have tons to do before she arrives. sweetangel7 I hope your son feels better. My last child had reflux and had to be put on Prevacid right about the same age as your son. She had the same syptoms. It was terrible. My ped said that all babies have reflux to some degree, which makes sense, since all babies eat and spit on on some level. But not all are bothered to the point of needing medication.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the Colic Calm - It's on order so we'll see what happens. Also CCN - checked the ingredients or Simply Thick - the Xanthan Gum is a corn product - so mom has taken him off of that also. Hopefully we're on the right track. Thanks for all your help.
Avatar f tn My sister in law had horrible colic yet her baby was so mild and hardly cried. I also had colic, and my son had colic, but for different reasons. For me I believe it was reflex, yet my son it was dairy.
Avatar f tn She is still having alot of gas at night and if i dont give her gas meds she crys all nite. She was on prevacid for a couple months when she was really little. I'm starting to think her tummy cant process foods.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering!
Avatar f tn Doctors cannot explain colic, they cannot tell us worried and exhausted parents anything, except to just let our babies cry for hours a day and for months. The inability for ANY doctor to explain colic to me, has left me with a lot of distrust. And after 4 children, all who suffered from "colic" that distrust grew, and led me on a journey to help other parents be better advocates for their tiny bundles of joy.
296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
2075737 tn?1379447682 s essentially probiotics for babies and every mommy I know who tried it for their colic ridden babes say it changed their life. I would very, very highly recommend it.

Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
Avatar n tn Is there any history of celiac disease in the family? Has she been tested for that? Babies will often show symptoms similar to reflux when the problem can actually be celiac disease.
589762 tn?1330207135 We went to the dr yesterday for Noah's 2 month check up and he did great! He weighs 11lbs 1oz and is now 23 in long! What a big boy i have! Dr said he looks great! I did ask him about Noah's fussiness and the dr thinks it could be colic, so he gave me a new formula to try for colic babies! We will see how it works, it says fast relief should make colic symptoms a little better as fast as 24 hours for most babies! Hopefully my baby falls in the "most babies" catergory lol!
218701 tn?1248226255 Just took Cash for his 3 week check up and he is 10lbs 7 oz - big ole boy! We had tried the Zantac and it didn't work so we are trying Prevacid now for his reflux. He also has colic so we are having tons of fun! But those sweet moments are all worth it!
761653 tn?1266271699 Im not sure what they gave me for colic 14 years ago but you can go by some gas drops for the baby and see if that helps, it starts with a m, cant remember what it is called, at least you could give it to him today and see if it helps and you can let the dr no 2mrw how it worked. Also ive read when babies cry and cant be soothed they are in some type of pain they just cant tell us. I hope Owen gets better, what formula are you using?
10401688 tn?1409861019 Make sure nothing else is irritating him. Like diapers, clothing, bedding,etc.. Also you make want to try putting him on a schedule he may be cranky from you waking him during the day but after a while you won't need to wake him. Swaddling is also good and if you have a swing, I swear it works miracles. Schedule an appointment with pediatrician the doctor may have more solutions for you.
492921 tn?1321289896 There are different thoughts on the cause of colic- some feel it is digestive while others feel it is neurological. My little one DID have reflux which I feel aggravated her colic, but she seemed to be more neurologically sensitive. The tummy troubles she did have were the reflux, and reflux is 24-7, not just in the evening hours when colic strikes. Any gas or tummy pains she got during the colicky hours were more a result of her swallowing air while screaming.
569254 tn?1267372644 we had it for the first 6 1/2 weeks and i swear it was like she hit the 7 week mark it is majorly subsided. fortunately we are done with this, but i can sympathize with you :) it is really rough... something that REALLY helped leighton was we would burp her before she ate, every ounce, and then for 10 minutes after she ate. also, we would rub her back instead of patting. so, rub rub rub, pat. rub rub rub pat. that really helped for some reason. do you have a swing? if so, try that.
Avatar f tn It was written by a pediatrician and deals specificially with soothing techniques for babies with colic. I can tell you that of all the baby books I read, this one was absolutely hands down the best and the most practical. Very simple soothing techniques and trust me, they worked. I highly recommend it. The other thing that worked really well for my infant was laying him on his back and gently bicycling his legs. It really helped move the gas. Best of luck.
1570437 tn?1296573698 My 3 month old is having Colic extremely bad for one to two hours. I have tried everything Mylicon, Gripe Water and even everything my Peditrician has given me. Does anyone have any ideas I may not be trying? I burp her good and I have tried every way of putting her my knees stomach down and even lying her on the stomach nothing seems to ease her pain. Please help!!
Avatar n tn Try different bottle brand, I've heard Dr Brown makes great bottles for gas and colic. Also don't lay the baby flat after feeding , a pillow under crib mattress to make a little incline may help.
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
