Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

s what I meant. I meant Prevacid. Mine was put on Zantac first and was then switched to Prevacid and that was better. The Zantac only helped for like a couple of weeks and then went right back. Well, if they have tried all of that, then maybe a GI specialist is the route to go. It sounds like your doc has tried everything. And maybe your doc is right. Maybe when Julian starts solids, it will help. I hope so.....for both your sake. I know it's hard....Just hang in there.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.

Hi I have had GERD for a few years now. I've never had halitosis. Recently my reflux started acting up, so i doubled my prevacid. I'm not sure what is causing my very horrid halitosis. I have figured out it is not dental related. In fact when I burp, I can feel the hot yucky gas coming up from my stomach. A recent google showed that prevacid can cause a side effect of halitosis. Other comments insist it is the GERD but I am not entirely convinced.

lol Just a few weeks ago when I took my son to the doctor, his doc.( Dana Ankney, Forest Park Pediatrics) told me that it was okay to feed him eggs and he was barely six months. As long as the eggs are cooked and you're feeding him so he doesn't choke, he's fine.
