Avatar n tn ) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid. While we noticed an decrease in symptoms for the first 3 weeks, this past week they have comeback with avengeance, along with anxiety, tearfulness, and a general "mopy-ness". We are upping his Prevacid to 30 mg. If there is no improvement we go back to the GI Doc next week. Any advice? Anyone been through anything like this? Thanks.
Avatar m tn People of all ages (including infants and children) can get it and may have green and/or mucous in stools, foul smelling stools, diarrhea, etc. (I had this at age 50 at the same time my mother, 81 at the time, had it....so I have read a lot about it and gone with my mother to multiple doctors. ) New research shows that Prevacid, etc. can upset the natural balance of bacteria in the digestive system and make a person more prone to C. Diff. infection. Not to frighten you--but C. Diff.

1516809 tn?1345082764 Is a Hacking Cough with sounds of congestion in the upper chest typical of COPD? My mother for the last month would expel white colored globs of mucus periodically after a few minutes of coughing. She has no fever nor loss of appetite. Her geriatrician tried Azithromycin 500mg tabs for 5 days which seemed to help but then the coughing and globs returned. The doctor then doubled her Pulmicort doseage in her Nebulizer for two weeks to see if that helped plus using Robitussin as needed.
290867 tn?1333569278 When a pharmacist makes a compounded version (liquid) of a medince, usually the precise amount of sodium bicarbonate is not added to the medicine. Therefore, when the medicine is ingested, the natural acid in the stomach attacks the medicine and degrades it before it even has a chance to work...so you're basically not giving any medicine at all. The solutabs already have the correct amount of bicarb and are able to work effectively without being degraded....
Avatar n tn In the States the blockers totally block acid production vs. supressors which supress it but oftentimes come with breakthrough acid reflux. Are you taking it once or twice or three times a day? I ask bcz sometimes they let you take the dosing in different am'ts at diff times of the day which is not conventional but I have seen it done and it works oftentimes with the infants. I can sympathize with your pain bcz I, too, have problems with fruit juice, wine, coffee, etc.
171768 tn?1324230099 I hopped on here & just saw this. I am so sorry she's still struggling. My little Cam is still having issues & he will be 3 in a couple of months. He went on Prevacid at 4 weeks, then they added Reglan around 10 weeks, which was nice since everything was blamed on colic. It helped, but we still had issues. I kept track of how he was doing & would call the nurse often. They kept adjusting the meds & ended up added Zantac shortly after.
689402 tn?1236306342 Have gone throught 2 rounds of TX, The first in 1992 daily injections and the 2nd in 2002, 48 weeks with a relapse 4 weeks after finishing. I am in good health except for high viral load.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.

290867 tn?1333569278 the doctor also suggested a small amount of cereal or oatmela depending on whether the baby is pooping ok or constipated because the thincker the forumla, the more ability they have to hold it down. you can look up GERD and acid reflux in infants and many of them talk about a very small amoutn of cereal.
1330108 tn?1333677304 t work for her so now she is on Prevacid. We have her in our room yet to sleep because I am afraid to put her in her room in case she spits up and has one of her "choking" episodes. I am not sure what you are using for her to sleep in but we just got a fishcer price rock and play which is amazing. It was recommended by her MD and we love it. She sleeps so good in it.
