prevacid dosage for babies

Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?

I have been on Prevacid, 30 mg, twice daily, for about a month. It finally seemed to kick in after 4 weeks and I had 5 glorious days of no acid, or very little. I then reduced my dosage to one 30mg capsule daily. Within two days the GERD came back full force! Is it better to go back to two pills? Is it common that it would come back so strong? I'd rather take the two capsules again than have this! Ugh!

Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

they probably saved my sons life. He also was on zantac daily. Dairy is really bad for babies and us too but in moderation everythings OK..

I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?

In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

thanks for getting back to me. I have been taking nexxium for almost nine months straight and prevacid now for about 3 weeks. it has helped some with the acid reflux part but not the bloating. i have cut back to 1 pill a day instead of two which I took for nine months straight.

A week later I was going for blood work for my 6 month checkup. My tsh .40 (0.44-4.21) and t4 free 1.06 ( 0.60-1.40) I told her what was going on and especially that day I felt very hyper edgy. I said I have been on synthroid for 25 years and have never been below the normal range and asked her if lowering the lithium dose could have caused this and she said maybe. Then she asked me what I wanted to do. She felt the free t4 was within range. I then said reduce the dose to see if it helps.

Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............

Usually the dosage of chlomid is low at first so the chances of multiple babies are not common. Even as the dosage increases, the chances of having multiples with chlomid is not as high as most people think.

t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.

Just happened to read your posts and the responses. I wondered if you have tried increasing your dose of Prevacid? Don't know what dosage you are taking, but I have had to take 20 mg of Prilosec for years. A year ago I went through some thyroid meds changes and went from very mild hypo to very hypo. All of a sudden acid reflux was very bad again. My doctor said it was fine to double my dosage of Prilosec and the problem was eliminated.

she weaned 2 months ago, but the gastro was able to give us appropriate dosage for OTC heartburn meds incase something aggrevated it.

OMG I'm so excited for you!! This is where I'm going to refer to the experts at the reflux forum. I actually used zegerid (another PPI medication) with my daughter. I only know about solutabs from all the wonderful mommies on that board. Please please post on the other forum and ask for more specific help there. Laura (the moderator) has tons of information in her welcome links. Prevacid 101 is one that pops in my head.

Well, I still have 3 months till my due date but that's okay. I have tons to do before she arrives. sweetangel7 I hope your son feels better. My last child had reflux and had to be put on Prevacid right about the same age as your son. She had the same syptoms. It was terrible. My ped said that all babies have reflux to some degree, which makes sense, since all babies eat and spit on on some level. But not all are bothered to the point of needing medication.

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.

Hello I have been taking zoloft for about 2 months then I had another anxiety episode so my doctor told me to go from 25mg to 50 mg anyhow since then my stomach is an absolute mess. I have heartburn I am constantly burping and I feel like my stomach is burning and it makes really strange sounds. Has this ever happened to anyone??? I'm just woried it might be stomach cancer or something!!! Please help. Thanks.

I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.
