Avatar m tn I am 40 hrs old with perfect lipid profile and little elevated blood sugar (A1C 6.3). The lab tests indicate below than normal Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 (probably due to prolong usage of Prevacid/PPI tablets of 2-3 yrs). Would appreciate your inputs and thanks for your time.
574423 tn?1258658571 i see my neuro next week and am hoping to increase my flexeril. i just started with the vit d, and have read that it helps a lot with pain. thoughts?
Avatar f tn Did you know that if you take prescription Vitamin D like Drisdol you can't take pretty much anything?? I was having acid issues and thought I'd take some Tagamet. Took it for 2 days and then thought maybe I ought to call the endo and ask. He said NO!!!! He told me that the only thing I could take was Pepcid AC and not even that if I could help it. He said all of that stuff interferes with the synthroid and the Drisdol. He's a party pooper.
Avatar f tn I did not realize this could cause malabsorption of vitamins and am chronically deficient in iron, vitamin d, magnesium etc and was put on prescription vitamins. I stopped taking the acid reflux meds for a few months and now am waking up a lot at night (in addition to my sleep apnea), have gunk in my throat and feel stuff coming back up again.
Avatar f tn This new study points the finger to a prominent component of dairy - namely calcium - and the Vitamin D that is found in many dairy products and vitamin D-fortified foods. In addition to its well-known function in bone health, calcium is important to the functioning of nerve and muscle cells. But when too much calcium is taken up into blood vessel walls, the calcium becomes incorporated into bone-like deposits that can lead to loss of elasticity and narrowing of the blood vessels.
19024797 tn?1471291132 m taking 6,000 IU of Vitamin D daily and have read many articles on how Magnesium and Vitamin K all work together in the process of absorbing Vitamin D and visa vera...but when my doctor but me on Vitamin D he didn't mention supplementing with Magnesium or Vitamin K. Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
Avatar n tn after taking these i went to see a gi doctor who had helped me in the past with a similar issue and he said keep taking nexxium and prevacid and it would probably go away. well it has been almost 10 mo. now and it has not gone away. i eat low fat, no spices, no acid food and eat plenty of wheat product which i thought helped with digestion. is there a natural product that can help break downs foods so they are not just sitting there rotting?
1750261 tn?1311867630 I would hate for you to start with those right off the bat, because long-term use of these medications can cause malabsorption of important vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. Supplementing will not help enough with the malabsorption. I know this from experience. And, you're still very young and just starting out in life. So, start with the diet, exercise and the raising of the head of the bed first.
Avatar f tn I had a very severe case of GERD caused by an injury to the LES valve plus a long-standing issue with a Hiatel Hernia, and the problems were were noted immediately. My vocal chords were burned to the point that speaking became very difficult, and in a matter of days, the enamel on my teeth eroded and started turning black (I was becoming a male Halloween Witch!). I did not experience the sores like you are experiencing.
Avatar f tn Are you on H2 inhibitors? (Medications like Prevacid which decrease your stomach acid levels and impair vitamin and mineral absorption because they haven't been broken down when they hit the small intestine.) Just because your chart says chronic hepatitis, doesn't mean you have hep C -it just means there is inflammation there being caused by something...Does this help? Good luck! My advice? -See a licensed naturopath.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the the relationship between Vitamin D and MS and if you take supplements, will it help prevent relapses? I was just reading something about this from a report from the UK--and their research suggests that it does seem to help. I also wonder if you can give vitamin supplements to children/teens and if that will help to prevent the disease later in life.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I've been tested and have come up with a deficiancy of Vitamin D was told that Vitamin D is like the mortar between the bricks of your colon wall, if you have a deficiancy then the toxins can easily slip through the gaps out your colon and into your blood stream. First stop your liver, then onto your heart and mind. Once your liver starts to drop then it's harder for you to metabolise other vitamins also only making things worse.
Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
Avatar f tn In the report issued today, the committee reviewed studies on the metabolism and physiology of calcium and vitamin D and their influence on health. Dietary reference intakes were determined using the estimated average requirement (EAR; the level at which 50% of the population's needs are met), recommended dietary allowance (level at which 95% of the population's needs are met), tolerable upper intake level, and adequate intake level.
Avatar f tn Have your Vitamin D checked. I also heard that tanning beds do not give you the Vitamin D so not sure about a sunlamp. Coral Calcium has Vitamin D3 so it's a good source as well as most fish, especially salmon. Vitamin D deficiencies can cause serious problems. Mine was just tested at 40 and it was 11.8, well below normal and it took months of arthritis pains, gout, paresthesias, four doctors, etc. for one doctor to say, "Haven't they ever tested your Vitamin D?
Avatar f tn What positive results did you see? Arthritis is the last thing I need! I take calcium, vitamin D, fish oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin C, and magnesium, I also have osteoporosis and I am 44! I am hoping to see an improvement in my bone scan this summer. Being hyper with Grave's surely didn't help.
