prevacid and synthroid

Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.

I had this cough since 1989 when I started on synthroid and can't figure it out. I was wondering if it could be the synthroid. I just typed this site in and I am surprised and now do believe it can be the synthroid. No one can figure out the cough. Did anyone ever figure it out if the cough is from the synthroid???

I have the Prevacid and Synthoid issue under control. However, now I have to take an antibiotic for 7 days for UTI. Has anyone ever been told that antibiotics will interfer with synthyroid absorption? There isn't any mention of it on the printout that came with med.

Not happy. Bad heartburn needing Prevacid .. Pepcid not working .. and what do I get .. ANXIETY from the Prevacid alongside my Synthroid. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is all I can say. Pretty annoyed at this stuff. Actually very annoyed LOL.

I have been on the internet and can not find an answer. My synthroid was increased from 100mcg to 112 mcg. My tsh is 5.5 . My question is how will my other medications be working until my tsh is in the normal range . Will the level of my meds be increased in my system until my levels are back to normal.

Now I take Synthroid and Armour and no more of these problems

Wow..I know I'm 2 years late with my comment but I've recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee. I'm 42 years old for god sake! I've been taking Prevacid for 5 years and my Doctor dismissed the "rumors" as well. I come from a family of fat and skinny but almost 100% healthy members. My Mom didn't start menopause until she was 50 so I know that can't be the problem. I keep thinking; "why are my bones doing this?

Did you know that if you take prescription Vitamin D like Drisdol you can't take pretty much anything?? I was having acid issues and thought I'd take some Tagamet. Took it for 2 days and then thought maybe I ought to call the endo and ask. He said NO!!!! He told me that the only thing I could take was Pepcid AC and not even that if I could help it. He said all of that stuff interferes with the synthroid and the Drisdol. He's a party pooper.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

my endo says i have to be on 112 of synthroid another six months. but i dont feel like its helping me at all. i also take bystolic, celexa and prevacid. could they be interacting or is it all just my thyroid still? any help will be welcomed.

I am taking 100 mcg of Synthroid and have had good TSH numbers on this dose in the past. I just read that strawberries can affect TSH. I have been eating them everyday for a bit. Has anyone else frequently consumed them and experienced a change in TSH. Thanks for your consideration.

When I lick my lips, my skin tastes bitter. I take Prevacid, and recently tripled my dosage from 20 microgm of Synthroid, to 75 microgm-any suggestions? I also tasted the skin on my hands/arm, and noticed the skin there was also bitter-tasting.

Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.

In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

For the gastritis I tried Pepcid (extreme dry mouth and constipation gas) The doctor gave me the lowest dose of Prevacid and made symptoms worse along with fatigue and anxiety. Don't know what to try next. Have also had the same reaction with Nexium and Prilosec.

I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?

Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?

That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!

t fight it off, i took two tylenol today becasue I have extreme pms and am retaining a lot of water, synthroid and prevacid, claritan from post nasal drip. A lot huh? Thanks for all of your advice it is helping so much.

i decided to take iron at night because i take other meds during the day. and i dont want to NOT get the full effect from them. besides synthroid i take celexa, prevacid, and bystolic. i take them over the course of the day. and sometimes i take allergy meds and antibiotics. anyway that is why i take the iron at night. and its starting to work just a bit, i have a little more energy.

I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.

HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.

When they gave me the prescription at the hospital at discharge from my surgery, they told me to leave a 30 minute window between the synthroid and other meds or food. When I went to see the doc for my post op follow up he said the best time to take was right before bed time since my stomach would be empty.............well he obviously doesn't know that I am a late night snacker! hahahaha.

I take Prevacid and my family doc says it quiets the vagus nerve. Avoid spicy foods, try to have regular bm's. Maybe a stool softener would help or anything that keeps things moving. Anything that affects my digestive system affects my heart and produces irregular beats.
