Prevacid and sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and sleep

prevacid

547002 tn?1219797376 I was on prevacid for about a week or two, then I noticed that I was getting really tired and on Monday night, I was having slurred speech, really tired, weak, feeling depressed and anxious I couldn't sleep at all Monday night, and I was really confused. and I was only taking 15mg once a day. How high is your dosage, and how long have you been on prevacid. When I noticed my symptoms on Monday I stopped taking it.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar f tn It help me alot when I take a tablespoon or 2 of apple cider vinegar. It's not as bad as it sounds.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
1736607 tn?1310577168 Although I am tired because of lack of calories and lack of sleep, I can at least manage to get through the day ok. But it's getting harder and harder to make it through the night. I never had trouble sleeping before this burning GI and heart PVCs started. Is there anything new I can try to help my system remain stable through the night so I can at least get one night's sleep a week?? I really want to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. I'm so frustrated!!!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar n tn Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.
Avatar f tn That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn Also, I read about proton pump inhibitor medications but did not realize I could get them over the counter. I have been elevating my head at night and those sleep apnea symptoms are present but manageable. hopefully, a combination off PPI's and antacids, along will some rest, diet, and exercise will elimination the problem altogether.
Avatar m tn I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
Avatar f tn ve consulted so many doctors so far (-- namely, a rheumatologist, two physiatrists, a neurologist, a neuropsychologist, a respirologist and sleep specialist, a gastroenterologist, an internist and an opthamologist). Apparently all my blood tests are fine, so no hormones are apparently "out of whack".
Avatar m tn Hi - For the past 2 years or so I have been taking low dose of Atenalol (Tenormin) daily to regulate my SVTs which I've had for years, and it has helped a lot. The problem is that it upsets my stomach (have all kinds of gastric problems) so bad that I feel like i want to die. Starts up as regular as clockwork 1 and 1/2 hours after I take it. Feels like somebody has grabbed a big handful of my 'guts' and twists and keeps doing it for hours, and I also feel puffy when I breath.
Avatar n tn I had it done this morning at UCLA and it was SOOOO EASY and cool! I went in, got a few sticky pads on my chest and stomach, they handed me a flashing pill, gave me a glass of water, told me to lie down and take it. Well I couldnt swallow while lying down so I leaned up, a little too much apparently, swallowed the pill, laid back down and watched the screen....it went straight to my stomach. They were worried they wouldnt get enough images, if any.
Avatar n tn She saw the doctor today and he told her to stop the iron supplement and gave her prevacid to see if it is due a stomach problem. Today she took prevacid and ate again. Tonight, she is again after eating having the same problems. We checked her blood pressure right now, it came out very low 80/60. Is this good because the drug is working ? or bad and should the drug dosage be reduced ? or is this a sign of her actually getting better and be able to be off the drug ?
1538185 tn?1292723992 continuous sleep because i wake up to relieve the green and yellowish mucus. I went for a sleep study and was told i have severe sleep apthnea @ 43 eposides per hr....I think it is only because of my severe mucus problem..i am 63yrs old and seems the problem is getting worse every year....also i have been gaining weight over the last 5 yrs. also....I know of no-one who has this problem....I have been on Prevacid for at least 7 yrs now...i do have very bad acid reflux...
Avatar f tn HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.
Avatar f tn And if its really bad your dr can prescribe you something. Im 28weeks and my heart burn is so bad my chest hurts. And i have to sleep upright. And whole milk helps calm it a little bit.... a little bit.
Avatar f tn I take Prevacid and my family doc says it quiets the vagus nerve. Avoid spicy foods, try to have regular bm's. Maybe a stool softener would help or anything that keeps things moving. Anything that affects my digestive system affects my heart and produces irregular beats.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar f tn (i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..
Avatar f tn ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
Avatar f tn I will talk to home about Prevacid and zantac. Oh and I can relate to feeling heavy at times too. Mostly when I'm in my feet for to long that's when I feel like an anchor to the ground lol.
4121556 tn?1350428560 I have acid reflux and afib and they are definitely related. I am taking Prevacid but sometimes wonder if it has any effect on my irregular beats. I was on Zantac for about a year, then my anti-arrhythmic meds had to be increased and I had to go back to a PPI. I will try the gaviscon and see if that helps. Do you know if it interacts with warfarin? It seems many drugs do. Stress (lots of adrenaline) brings on my af episodes, as well as caffeine, spicy food, too little sleep.
