Prevacid and seizures

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and seizures

prevacid

Avatar f tn We found with my son, who had seizures because of his reflux and when he was put on Prilosec we noticed a world of difference. He only gets bad if he gets a cold, but otherwise functions like a "healthy" child. It took a good 4 months to stop the seizures all together, but the vomitting and aspirations stopped within 3 weeks of starting it. He was able to keep food down and we were actually told to put him on jarred food mixed with rice cereal to keep his reflux down.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn said my daughter had not outgrown reflux and needed to be on prevacid and see a ped. Gastroenterologist. He did a scope on her esaphagus and showed no permanent damage but did find a hiatal hernia. We changed her diet and the doctor put her on 15 mg prevacid. It was a miracle - she stopped complaining of: stomach aches, never able to clear throat, vomiting in night, always felt like something in chest, etc...
Avatar f tn But sleep disturbances, headaches, elevated brain pressure, seizures and a host of neurological things can happen because of them depending on the size and what they are pushing on. The pineal gland makes melatonin which is responsible for your circadian rhythm. So I would think that this and the fatigue is connected to the pineal gland cyst. The spasms maybe particularly the ones in the eyes might be connected to the cyst. I don't know if the digestive stuff could be connected to it.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar n tn Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.
Avatar f tn That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn My 11 week old daughter was diagnosed via 24 hour channel test with having severe GERD with obstructive apnea. She was at the time being evaluated for seizures and had come back with a normal EEG (24 hour video) at 3 weeks. Since that time, she has been treated with Prevacid and Zantac, we believe succesfully as her behavior has been positively impacted. However, her seizure like activity continues.
Avatar m tn I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
629988 tn?1222264966 My pediatrician has given us medicine for gastritis and also Prevacid to no avail. He has been tested for Pylori that were negative back in June of 2008. We are very frustrated at this point since this seems to be coming on about every 3-4 months. What can we do to prevent this, what are we doing wrong?
Avatar f tn HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.
Avatar f tn I take Prevacid and my family doc says it quiets the vagus nerve. Avoid spicy foods, try to have regular bm's. Maybe a stool softener would help or anything that keeps things moving. Anything that affects my digestive system affects my heart and produces irregular beats.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar f tn (i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..
Avatar f tn ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
Avatar f tn t so clear on what autoimmune disease he said it had chronic and nerves that travel up to my brain and causes me to have more pain and my seizures
Avatar n tn Hi Head ache is one of the commonly reported side effect of PPIs. Rashes can also occur. Regarding the relief from symptoms, you need certain life style modifications in addition to taking PPI for complete relief. . Life style modifications - 1. Head elevation while sleeping 2. Small frequent meals 3. Going to bed 2- 3 hours after food 4. Avoiding bed time snacks 5. Avoiding smoking and alcohol 6. Avoiding tight fitting clothes 7.
Avatar f tn t a lot of room with everything pushing up. I take Prevacid 30 mg. in the morning and it seems to quiet things down. The last time I was having problems, I had gone off the Prevacid. I don't know if it's okay during pregnancy, but it might be worth discussing with your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Thank you very much Wuztoo for the information and reassurance. I am relieved! Visiting US at the moment so can rest easy. Thanks again!
Avatar f tn But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. That acid reflux is "normal" and Prevacid will help it. And it did. Or maybe I was thinking it was. Until I ran out of it about 3 weeks ago. The bloat has been back with a vengeance, and today something different has been happening. My stomach/abdomen started hurting in the lower right area, coupled with gas pains.
