I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
I take omeprazole and it works wonderful!! and its generic so not that expensive at all. I used to take protonix and it worked just as well as the omeprazole.. good luck!
I'm taking omeprazole for acid reflux's. Is there a similar medicine that does not carry the dizziness label. My acid reflux's is low.
The latest precaution about Plavix is to not take omeprazole with it (Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium). Hope that helps, but you really need a cardiologist.
The last time I had this problem I got some Omeprazole off my doctor. I finished those and the pains came back last week so I got some more on Tuesday.
Problem is that not it's a lot worse. I haven't ate or slept in 4 nights and I'm now starting to get constipated. Some thing I've never been before! I haven't been to school or the gum since last week because the pain is too debilitating!
That's what I started taking 4 wks ago because tums would no longer help. The medication your on is the generic form of a name brand OTC meds (I can't remember which one right now). I asked me doctor if that was ok, since my husband takes it too. My doc said it was ok. I would still check, I'm 38wks, and it may be different for different stages of pregnancy and I don't know your dosage. Maybe call your OB and ask. Good luck!! And heartburn is a B!!
Could stopping zyrtec about 4 mos ago and starting omeprazole about 3mos ago cause ventricular arrythmia eg bigeminy?
Could a histamine reaction cause this type of arrythmia?
Maybe one of the antacids like prevacid, prilosec. Another one is Omeprazole that you can buy over the counter. Two more, Pepcid and Zantac. Otherwise, go to the doc.
It seems that extended use is supposedly not harmful to the body. I take a 20mg tablet daily and I can function fully and eat and drink absolutely anything as long as I have had the capsule. I soon know about it if I forget to take it! That seldom happens I assure you. My question is: I have at least one bowel movement daily - usually after I get up in the morning. My stools are always loose and certainly smell very bad (so my wife assures me!).

Zegrid is Omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate can change the way your body absorbs or eliminates certain other drugs. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.Notice this states it may affect herbal products absorbtion, so the herbal coffee subsitute may not do all it claims....

There are only 5 proton pump inhibitors available. Omeprazole(prilosec), lansoprazole (prevacid), pantoprazole (protonix), rabeprazole( aciphaex) and esomeprazole(Nexium). All are of same efficacy. If there is no response to one, switching to another might be helpful. Get your doctor's opinion before changing the medications.

s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
As the title said, I am a 50 year old healthy female(with normal BMR).
I used to have bad heartburn years ago, but was able to treat it with change in diet and prevacid. I actually haven't taken this medication for a few years. Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked.
I get mucous in throat after eating anything. Been getting worse. Causes me to gag cough and throw up at least every other day. Doc gave me Omeprazole. Doesn't help. It's consuming my life. Last year I was tested for allergies and had an upper and lower G.I.,, I was okay. But allergic to peanuts and tomatoes.
Sometimes I think its from gas or constipation.
First diagnosis, they thought I had congenital heart failure. I went to heart doctor. All checked okay.
Since August of 2010 I've had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. I have had an EGD which showed a polyp (was removed) and some mild esophagitis. I don't have H.
the medicne i was taking right now is prevacid (lansoprazole) motilium and aleva ebastine i dont now if that is the reason of it that cause frequent urination and i have no pain at all in urination and i can sleep easily. could also be like thinking that you need to urinate could be a cause for it if i having activity i am not having frequent urination i take complete urinalysis but it negative is only urobilinogen says .
I get bad nausea from some of them .. so may be worth trying another brand and see if it goes away. Just my two cents as a patient ... I take Prevacid w/o a problem that is very pricy vs generic for Prilosec. I'd ask your Dr and see what he/she thinks, too ?
Really I am thinking that my body is constantly in distress because of my stomach digestive issues. Anyone have advice, or any suggestions? I have been on prevacid, protonix, omeprazole, aciphex and now the nexium. Please help me!
I was reading some of the other forums answered by the wonderful M.D.'s here, and I came across this statement by Forum MD-dc and I quote:
"studies have shown that esophageal acid stimuli can initiate reflexes that result in abnormalities of heart rhythm......"
I've long known that for myself, reflux/heartburn (I regularly eat as many as 10 Rolaids daily) and large meals can definetly effect/trigger my PVC's.
I know many people that suffer from acid reflux that don't have HCV, prevacid and prilosec are now OTC and work really good.
