prevacid

238010 tn?1420406272 First, liver damage is not the same as HepC. You can have HepC without significant liver damage and you can have liver damage without HepC. Fatty Liver Disease can lead to significant liver damage for example. Secondly, it is possible to take necessary medication which can give your liver a work out but not necessarily do it major damage.
Avatar m tn I called because the list of side effects in the literature said this was rare and could meant liver problems and that I should call the doctor. (I have hep c with moderate stage two liver fibrosis) Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. I don't feel bad or have any yellowing eyes or dark urine which is often associated with this.
Avatar n tn http://www.drugs.com/mtm/prevacid.html Have you had a breath test for H. pylori done? 46 is early for colorectal cancer, nausea is not a typical symptom. If pain was from cancer, you'd probably bleed from the intestine. Maybe it's good if you have a hemmocult test for hidden blood in the stool.
Avatar f tn Well, with advanced liver disease and decompensated cirrhosis no medication is safe, because liver can not process and detoxify what comes through it anymore. Pretty much every medication has to be given in a reduced dose in this situation. Nexium is pretty harmless drug with very few negative side effects. Thousands of hepatitis C patients take it every day to control heartburn. Just having hepatitis C is not a contraindication for using Nexium. I would start with 20 mg and see how it works.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn I am a 40 yo female who has been diagnosed with a fatty liver, however I am not over weight. I am 5'4 at 138. I have had a liver biopsy that did not show any disease process last july. If I take any meds that are processed through the liver my liver enzymes are always elevated in which then the doctor stops the meds. My GE doctor told me I just need to be careful with any meds I take.
Avatar f tn Alcohol and ANY medications is bad. Alcohol puts stress on all your organs and primarily your liver and kidneys...most medications are cleared through either your liver or your kidneys. Bad mix. You probably need to go to a Detox facility where you can be monitored and given the appropriate meds to help you get off the alcohol.
Avatar m tn I contacted my doctor who acted like I was worrying too much and said this is normal because my food is going through me quicker then pre-previc acid. I called because the list of side effects said this was rare and could meant liver problems and too call the doctor. (I have hep c with moderate stage two liver fibrosis) Just wondering if anyone else experience this.
Avatar n tn The hepatologist says that it was caused by the minocycline that she was taking for acne. She has some scarring on her liver and is currently taking prednisone. The doctor hopes that this won't be a lifelong disease since it appears to be drug induced. This has been and still is, very frightening for us. I pray a lot.
1391312 tn?1421086993 Yes Bill, I have been taking the Prevacid 30 mg 2 X a day, and has stopped working for me. I have been on a lot of different ones over the years, I will let you know what he puts me on this time.
Avatar m tn I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
Avatar f tn thank you took stress test, echo and ekg all was good.So can a hiatal hernia and a ulcer give me pain like this and what can i do about it i'm taking prevacid.
Avatar n tn she is suppose to be having her tonisls and her adnoiods out in 2 days and now they tell me something in her liver is up they have her on imuran, asacol, and prevacid. but her last test were fine and now they take it again before her surgery and don't know if they can do it . so have to go tomorrow to get more test done. can anyone help me understand what could be going on here..
Avatar f tn I have had elevated liver enzymes on and off for over 15 years. The ALT and AST have at the most doubled. I have celiac disease and have avoided gluten for 8 years. My last alt was slightly elevated at 52, but ast and all other livers were normal. My cholesterol was 212.
335728 tn?1331414412 I am on Spireva, Symbicort, Singulair and Ventolin for my COPD and Asthma and Prevacid and Lipitor for GERD and high cholesterol. I also take Amitriptyline for fatigue related to MS. Has anyone else had trouble with protein or calcium deficiency that has been proven related to any meds? I can't say that I have a perfect diet and as I told my hubby that perhaps if I started drinking again it would help with the calcium deficiency...
Avatar n tn I developed cholestatic liver disease during both pregnancies. Severe jaundice and itching that nearly drove me crazy. I had to deliver several weeks early as a result. My other history includes a pacemaker, which was also required subsequent pregnancy. I was on amiodarone for a few yrs. which caused toxicity of liver. i was eventually taken off the med. I had several gallstones, and had my gallbladder removed 2 months after giving birth.
Avatar m tn However I have seen articles about liver disease and red palms. What does it mean red palms? Yea I have red palms but my whole hand is red. Does red palms mean just palms? I have also noticed a little red blotchyness on back of my triceps. Hands also seem a little swollen. Stopped smoking bout 3 weeks ago and been using patch. Im 5ft 9in bout 190.
Avatar f tn had no real concerns only that due to my son suffering from GERDs, she saw in the xray that the bile is backing up into the stomach. This was the same thing she told me 3 years ago and prescribed Prevacid and now prescribed Nexium. There were bad news, however, when the Dr. got the results from the sonogram. She found a lesion on my son's pancreas and the liver is enlarged. Lab results also show the liver enzymes slightly higher. A CT Scan is pending (in 2 weeks!).
Avatar m tn Hi I am a 29 years old male, been healthy all my life. I don't drink but I do smoke, like 7-8 cigarettes per day, sometimes less. About 2 months ago I started having stomach cramping and chest pain. When it started it hurts so bad I couldn't even eat. After a few days I went to the doctor and he prescribe me a H2 blocker (forgot name sorry).
702620 tn?1228445760 I've had a chronic condition for about 6 months. Syptoms include fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, reoccuring flu, gas, hot and cold flashes (I'm only 31, not pregnant). I've had a CT scan of abdomen, head, and sinus, X-ray, upper ultrasound, various blood tests that came back negative.
Avatar f tn But I followed up with my primary doctor and she told me that I should just take the Prevacid and not worry about the xrays and such. That acid reflux is "normal" and Prevacid will help it. And it did. Or maybe I was thinking it was. Until I ran out of it about 3 weeks ago. The bloat has been back with a vengeance, and today something different has been happening. My stomach/abdomen started hurting in the lower right area, coupled with gas pains.
Avatar f tn This was the same thing she told me in 2005 and prescribed Prevacid and now prescribed Nexium. There were bad news, however, when the Dr. got the results from the sonogram. She found a lesion on my son's pancreas and the liver is enlarged. Lab results also show the liver enzymes slightly higher. A CT Scan is pending (in 2 weeks!). My son is currently taking Prevacid but this does not help his pain. The pain gets really bad at night time.
Avatar m tn I also have bad breath. I take Prevacid once a day for three years. I also take Lexapro. Even with prevacid, i still get heartburn some. I am a smoker and smoke about a pack a day. Can someone ease my mind a little about the stool thing? Or tell me some info?
Avatar f tn m 28 years old and pregnant 24 weeks along I also posted a similar question in the heart disease forum and I have recently been to my doctor and emergency room with complaints of chest tightness all the way up to my throat, shortness of breath, heart palpitations (fluttering) constant burping (bloating in my upper stomach) and the feeling that something is in the throat. I have also been feeling very weak and I should also add that I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well.
Avatar f tn The indigestion turned out to be Endoscopy Negetative Reflux Disease. I had a stint put in my heart and all is well there.
881463 tn?1245345649 8) The only abnormal blood results as usual were slightly elevated alt ast and alk phos from a benign fatty liver, which were confirmed by a liver biopsy 5 years ago. Since I have lost weight from 220 to 190 last year those liver markers have actually steadily decreased I do feel positive about these results, but the chest pain sharp to dull still worries me a bit.
