Hi, I take Levothy - for Hypo and Prevacid - B12, Vitamin D, Omega 3 and Iron suppliments. I take Levo @ 6.30 am - Prevacid around 9.00 am - and all the vitamins in the eve or late at night. Prevacid is an acid inhibitor - so during the course of 10 years - looking at my blood work - i had to supplement the above mentioned Vitamins due course of time. Recently i got diagonsed for open angle glaucoma and had laser surgery. Reading all these posts is a great feeling - not alone.

She saw the doctor today and he told her to stop the iron supplement and gave her prevacid to see if it is due a stomach problem. Today she took prevacid and ate again. Tonight, she is again after eating having the same problems. We checked her blood pressure right now, it came out very low 80/60. Is this good because the drug is working ? or bad and should the drug dosage be reduced ? or is this a sign of her actually getting better and be able to be off the drug ?

t work, or stops working like in my case, Prevacid is also safe during pregnancy and works like a charm. I had it real bad this last time and Prevacid was all that would help me.

I have the Prevacid and Synthoid issue under control. However, now I have to take an antibiotic for 7 days for UTI. Has anyone ever been told that antibiotics will interfer with synthyroid absorption? There isn't any mention of it on the printout that came with med.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

If u are anemic and taking iron supplements then don't take any antacids without your doctors prescription. If not antacids would help heartburn. I'm suffering from that too and bloated as well.

Symptoms are a coated tongue, foul breath, bad taste in the mouth, increased flow of saliva, scanty urination, a general feeling of uneasiness, and mental depression. Major heartburn (throat and esophagus burning and sometimes pain) and a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, especially after meals. Can’t eat. , makes me feel sick. I am pretty sure it is gastritis based on all these symptom. I have appointments with my MD and gastro DR.

i decided to take iron at night because i take other meds during the day. and i dont want to NOT get the full effect from them. besides synthroid i take celexa, prevacid, and bystolic. i take them over the course of the day. and sometimes i take allergy meds and antibiotics. anyway that is why i take the iron at night. and its starting to work just a bit, i have a little more energy.

Malabsorption problems often result from Celiac sprue and other IBS syndromes in the form of vitamin B deficiencies (mostly B-1, B-6, and B-12). Malabsorption disorders can cause poor iron absorption and megaloblastic (pernicious) anemia as well as chronic liver irritation, hypothyroidism, concentration problems, skin problems, and blood sugar levels leaning towards the low side. Does your Dr have you on Vitamin C to increase the iron absorption?

Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.

In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?

Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?

Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.

That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!

Your iron issue...the prevacid can actually cause you to not absorb iron the right way!!! I found that out and quit taking it, because like you i'm anemic!! I totally understand your frustration. I feel like i'm gonna have to almost kick the bucket before they figure it out!!!

I'm been dealing with abdominal pain for over a year now. It sent me to the ER a year ago, they took an x-ray said i had trapped gas and put me on prevacid for a little while. Well things suddenly got a lot worse about a month ago. Constant pain, nausea, constant strong urge to urinate, extreme fatigue, Not being hungry or feeling full after about 2 bites, when i do eat i usually regret it as the pain becomes worse i have the overwhelming urge to throw up.

I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.

HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.

Since April I have been on pre-natal vitmains plus iron, a month of weekly B12 and weekly perscription Vit D pills. This was all to treat iron defficiency anemia (HGB 9.6 and MCV 66), low Vit D and low B12. I had been on Magnesium replacement the month prior after becoming highly dehaydrated with the stomach flu. Certainly seems that I am getting adequate calcium and Vit D with my replacements but the bloodwork isn't showing an increase in calcium.

I take Prevacid and my family doc says it quiets the vagus nerve. Avoid spicy foods, try to have regular bm's. Maybe a stool softener would help or anything that keeps things moving. Anything that affects my digestive system affects my heart and produces irregular beats.

Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.

(i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..

ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.

but is it the same for iron rich foods? Would the stomach also block iron and other nutrients you get from food since it blocks supplements as well? If so, how can I take the acid reflux meds but still get the nutrients my body needs?
