Prevacid and infants

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and infants

prevacid

Avatar f tn Thank you for answering!
Avatar m tn People of all ages (including infants and children) can get it and may have green and/or mucous in stools, foul smelling stools, diarrhea, etc. (I had this at age 50 at the same time my mother, 81 at the time, had it....so I have read a lot about it and gone with my mother to multiple doctors. ) New research shows that Prevacid, etc. can upset the natural balance of bacteria in the digestive system and make a person more prone to C. Diff. infection. Not to frighten you--but C. Diff.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn Hi, this is way after the fact but I just had an interesting conversation with our occupational therapist. My son has a developmental delay and we have eating issues. He gags while eating and she was clarifying if it was coughing during eating or gagging/choking on the food. She told me that they do a barium (spelling) for the upper gi and watch a child chew and swallow. Some kids actually have small bits of food go into their wind pipe which makes them cough when eating solid food.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.
290867 tn?1333569278 the doctor also suggested a small amount of cereal or oatmela depending on whether the baby is pooping ok or constipated because the thincker the forumla, the more ability they have to hold it down. you can look up GERD and acid reflux in infants and many of them talk about a very small amoutn of cereal.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
340909 tn?1295188216 Take baby to Pediatrician he watches the tape and is instantly very concerned, he pulls up the xrays and bloodwork online and says he agrees with the ER doc. He starts us on Prevacid and Avix. Sends us home with sleep apnea moniter. Saturday: My husband gets sick with the most horrible sore throat. He doesn't show any other symptoms and when sleeping starts making the SAME sounds as the baby. At the same time my baby has only had one minor episode.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar n tn Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.
Avatar f tn That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn Then he was put on Prevacid 1/2 tab 1x a day and we put him back on Soy formula. We met with a ped GI specialist who increased his Prevacid 2x a day 1/2 tab and Carafate 3x a day. Gi Dr ordered another blood test for allergens, but that clotted as well. He has gotten progressively worse each day since the increase dose of Prevacid. It has been absolutely horrible. You can tell he is hunger, but in pain whenever he drinks.
Avatar m tn I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise. This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
470885 tn?1326329037 First of all, I apologize if this seems like a silly question - my oldest son (now 4 years old) didn't have yogurt until he was well over a year old. I've been thinking about how to add variety (and extra good fats) to my younger son (8 months nearly 9 months old)'s diet due to the fact that he's a bit on the small side and slow to gain weight - but healthy - and I thought that maybe I could start giving him a bit of yogurt now and then.
6333619 tn?1386598382 Idk if the liter is harmful to infants and children, you may have to look it up. The thing i would be worrried about is that its not yalls cat, it just showed up one day and you rescued it. You dont know this cat basically. Right now its getting used to you guys but when the baby comes he will still be adjusting and i have heard of cats smothering new borns....
Avatar f tn HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.
Avatar f tn I take Prevacid and my family doc says it quiets the vagus nerve. Avoid spicy foods, try to have regular bm's. Maybe a stool softener would help or anything that keeps things moving. Anything that affects my digestive system affects my heart and produces irregular beats.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar f tn (i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..
Avatar f tn ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
1330108 tn?1333677304 d recommend that you go to Amazon.com and look at these remarks. Apparently the way this product is designed, it causes some infants to get a flat spot in the back of their head and may also cause a delay in head control - some parents are then needing to use a helmet to reshape the kids head. Very interesting! good luck with the reflux.
