prevacid and heart problems

I know when I used to take it, it caused my heart rate to go up. I read on a site it can cause heart problems along with nexium.

The gastro doc said I had mild gastritis and GERD (even tho I never have heartburn), he removed a benign nodule from my esophagus and said I had diverticuli that were not inflamed. About 2 weeks later I had severe chest pain and heart pounding. Went to ER and everything was OK. Then I started having PSVT (160 - 190 bpm)--once they were brought on by burping and once by bending over. These episodes became more frequent with runs of A-FIB. (These beats were caught on an event monitor.

My primary care doc says the vegas nerve runs alongside the heart and if it is irriatated, it can cause heart issues. Your pregnancy might be triggering your pvcs. I had terrible heartburn during pregnancy, as I was shortwaisted and there wasn't a lot of room with everything pushing up. I take Prevacid 30 mg. in the morning and it seems to quiet things down. The last time I was having problems, I had gone off the Prevacid.

In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.

I contacted my doctor who acted like I was worrying too much and said this is normal because my food is going through me quicker then pre-previc acid. I called because the list of side effects said this was rare and could meant liver problems and too call the doctor. (I have hep c with moderate stage two liver fibrosis) Just wondering if anyone else experience this.

I want to know that if this mix causes constipation and then heart problems. I believe it does. Some one that is qualified please answer this question.

I started taking prevacid a few weeks ago for an esophogial ulcer (non-malignant), I had stomach aches for on about day four or five that went away. My heart burn and pain in my sides is gone. My stools went from normal to yellow and remain that way. I contacted my local GI who is not my hep c specialist. He acted like I was worrying too much and said this is normal because my food is going through me quicker then pre-previc acid.

She is very thin asian decent, never really had cholestoral problems but I think our family might have a history of weak heart and kidney. She been told she has enlarged heart and something found in her kidney (I dont remember what it was) Right now she is taking Exforge, Fish Oil. But recently doctor gave her Iron to take.

I just started taking Prevacid and it worked right away and all day!! I wish I would have tried it with my last pregnancy too!

I take a proton pump inhibitor (Prevacid) each morning for reflux and my primary care doc says it quiets the vagus nerve (near the heart) down, helps with irritation that might cause irregular beats. I try to take it an hour after my dose of Atenolol -- I want to make sure I'm absorbing my Atenolol. I think Jeric is on to something -- I'd ask the doctor.

Hi--I recently had an Upper GI for nausea and the test came back normal except for a "small amount" of reflux. I was surprised to hear this since I have never had heart burn in my life, even when I was pregnant. My GP does not want to put me on any medication since she said there are no symptoms to treat. She said to take 2 tums at night since it could do damage to my esophagus when I lay down but other than that I didn't need to take anything.

is this spasms or what any one elsa do this with flutters .. i have a blood presure monotor that reads heart beats and it tells you if your heart beat is not normal i have took my bp lots today to see if it records the flutter but when i feel it while takingmy bp it dont show it on machine. not sure if machine not record them. one time it about 5 months ago it showed up as a irrg heart beat but not showing these today. any help out there lol.

t, feel real full, and i have a lot of problems with my left arm. Such as fullness, tingling, and heaviness. I have just started reading the connection between these issues and the vegas nerve. All the doctors want to do is heavy dose the prevacid, prilosec, nexium,etc. You name it. I've tried it. The water in the morning (at least a quart)and dropping down hard on my heels, for me really works the best. All i've heard about the surgery is 90% negative.

I'm 17+ weeks and been having heart burn like every 20 mins, tums help me out alot but how much of it can I take? Will anything else help relieve heart burn?

I am 83 and have none of the classic GERD symptoms, just the arrhythmia. I have a heart murmur and the cardiologist is watching the valves bit at the moment he is not worried about my heart. Can you comment?

Im 30 weeks and everything gives me heart burn even juice... the only thing that doesn't give me heart burn is water what can i do?

I skipped the Prevacid one day, and ended up in the ER with severe heart irregularities after eating gravy from my school cafeteria (contained msg). I knew then, there was a definite connection between the stomach and heart and the Prevacid was my lifeline. When I was 31, they scoped me again and the Barrett's was gone...when I was 33 the erosive esophagitis was gone, so now I don't accidently skip my Prevacid at all.

I am a 32 year old male. I have been hospitalized twice in the past for artial fibrillation, but the condition is manageable with occasional episodes that only last for a couple of seconds. I have learned the "petend like your going to poop" technique and it usually works to slow my heart down and get it back into rhythm. As many with this condition, I've been told there is no reason for the episodes, but the frequency has been increasing lately.

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

t work, or stops working like in my case, Prevacid is also safe during pregnancy and works like a charm. I had it real bad this last time and Prevacid was all that would help me.

(i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..

Many with gastric reflux issues describe what sounds similar to what you're experiencing - 'heartbeat' irregularities. And any numbers of people on PPIs and other acid reduction meds say it happens to them. You shouldn't discount it, but it's very possible the presence of reflux problems and taking the meds could be implicated and/or the cause of the problem. And an added factor may be the anxiety you're currently experiencing because of problem in the first place.

I had a lap nissen about 8 yrs ago,and havent had heart burn since.Could this be a complication from the lap nissen,and if so would it have showed on these test if something was herniated?The doc put me on protonix,and it has helped some,but I know there is something bad wrong,even wondered if I had cancer.I cant continue like this.Would reflux cause this much pain retching?The pain goes into back.

I have been having terrible chest pain along with heart burn the only way to describe it is it feels like the pain is around my heart and the burning goes all the way up my throat. could this be a heart issue or just bad indigestion?

He has been to our family dr countless times and to the gastroenterologist. He had an x-ray with contrast to see his small bowel and a colonoscopy. He has not had the EGD test done though.
