Prevacid and heart palpitations

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and heart palpitations

prevacid

Avatar f tn He went to ER and to the cardiologist more than once to be checked out and they did EKGs, echocardiogram tests, etc. and could not come up with any heart cause for the palpitations. He worried that maybe the Nexium or Prevacid, etc. might be causing or aggravating the palpitations. My Mom suggested he try just taking sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) instead of pills when he had heartburn symptoms. He made the switch and says he doesn't have palpitations anymore. Just a thought...
1551963 tn?1302292732 i suffered with acid reflux for years and then i got on some prilosec and my symptoms went away but i started getting bad head aches and it felt like my heart was skipping so i went to the doc and he said i had high blood preasure but my colesteral was good. I then changed my diet and wheened myself off the prilosec and all the symptoms went away.
Avatar m tn Later in the day in reading about hiatus hernias I found some info indicating a possible link (in some cases) between the vagus nerve, heart palpitations and the hernia itself. Co-incidentially I have noticed that often the VT runs - 5-10 beats- occur when I am sitting at my computer, leaning forward. While the endocrinologist recommended medication for the acid reflux, he did say the the hernia was fairly large and down the road I might need to have it repaired.
Avatar f tn The first thing that happens is the breathing issue and those dang heart palpitations. Now, I read labels like crazy scanning for wheat and gluten, and bake my own gluten-free breads. My cardiologist NEVER thought of this angle; he just kept throwing more pills at me to take, which weren't helping, including switching me to channel blockers, which were even worse! I'd gotten to the point that I told my hubby that I thought I was actually dying. No; I KNOW I was dying.
4121556 tn?1350428560 I have acid reflux and afib and they are definitely related. I am taking Prevacid but sometimes wonder if it has any effect on my irregular beats. I was on Zantac for about a year, then my anti-arrhythmic meds had to be increased and I had to go back to a PPI. I will try the gaviscon and see if that helps. Do you know if it interacts with warfarin? It seems many drugs do. Stress (lots of adrenaline) brings on my af episodes, as well as caffeine, spicy food, too little sleep.
Avatar m tn This said, stress and anxiety are hard on your body and heart so moving forward try to do your best to find ways to cope with the stress in your life. Maybe do yoga or meditation or simply try to learn deep breathing when things start to intensify to see if you can calm yourself down in the moment because the stress itself is feeding your ectopic beats and very well causing you to have more then you may otherwise have.
Avatar n tn Palpitations can be due to hyperthyroidism(overactive thyroid), arrhythmias (altered electrical system of the heart), certain medications, heart failure, anemia and low blood sugar. It can be aggravated by exercise, fever, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and dehydration. Anxiety, fear or stress can cause palpitations. Would suggest holter monitoring, blood tests to rule out anemia/low blood sugars and to check to see if any medications are causing your symptoms.
Avatar m tn Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this.. So I decided to stop taking the Protonix...the last time i took it was thursday and i still feel like im in hell....
Avatar m tn Are you sure that you have the increased heart rate when you wake and move, or could it be that you are awakened when the heart rate starts upward, then you waken and start moving and have the increased heart rate? If that is a possibilty ( heart rate up, then you are alerted) then I would consider the possibility of sleep apnea and seek out a Sleep Certified doctor for a sleep test. Best wishes. Joan.
Avatar f tn m 28 years old and pregnant 24 weeks along I also posted a similar question in the heart disease forum and I have recently been to my doctor and emergency room with complaints of chest tightness all the way up to my throat, shortness of breath, heart palpitations (fluttering) constant burping (bloating in my upper stomach) and the feeling that something is in the throat. I have also been feeling very weak and I should also add that I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well.
Avatar n tn A deficiency can cause muscle weakness, heart palpitations, tachycardia and cardiomyopathy. The carnitine deficiency came on at the same time I became ill with the Lyme and may have always been there, but the Lyme triggered it and sent it reeling. I had severe anxiety, but whether that was from the Lyme or other related symptoms, I don't know. I do know the anxiety has improved since treatment. You are young to have that problem. Do you have a family history of heart issues?
Avatar f tn I have a terrible problem. I feel like I am about to kick the bucket. I have horrible arrythmias when I have the urge to defacate and when I attempt to defacate. I become very lightheaded, fain, sweaty, and my heart races out of control. Help me! I take a beta blocker, but it doesn't help. Can I do something about the vagus nerve to get rid of this problem?
Avatar f tn I just started taking Prevacid and it worked right away and all day!! I wish I would have tried it with my last pregnancy too!
1755089 tn?1376053555 The cardiologue told me when I ended up in the ER this week after I lost consciousness, that a serie of very close PVCs as cause me to pass out and gave me Bisoprolol even if my heart rhytme and blood pressure are very low in me. He is going to send me for more testing in an institute that specialise in heart trouble, but the waiting list is between 6 to 8 months. I can't wait to know a possible reason for those PVCs I have been having for the last 6 years. Thank for your time.

Avatar f tn I'm 17+ weeks and been having heart burn like every 20 mins, tums help me out alot but how much of it can I take? Will anything else help relieve heart burn?
Avatar f tn My primary care doc says the vegas nerve runs alongside the heart and if it is irriatated, it can cause heart issues. Your pregnancy might be triggering your pvcs. I had terrible heartburn during pregnancy, as I was shortwaisted and there wasn't a lot of room with everything pushing up. I take Prevacid 30 mg. in the morning and it seems to quiet things down. The last time I was having problems, I had gone off the Prevacid.
Avatar n tn I am 83 and have none of the classic GERD symptoms, just the arrhythmia. I have a heart murmur and the cardiologist is watching the valves bit at the moment he is not worried about my heart. Can you comment?
Avatar m tn I started having PAC’s, afib (3 to 8 beats at a time based on a 2-week heart monitor test) and arrhythmias (or palpitations), sometimes lasting 45 min to an hour. I can’t say for sure if afib is involved in my arrhythmia episodes or not. I have some acid reflux and I have a sliding hiatal hernia. My evidence suggests that the herniated stomach is sometimes brushing against the heart and that the acid reflux is irritating the vagal nerve in the esophagus/heart area.
Avatar m tn After that, wore a holter monitor for 24 hours, and am awaiting results. The chest pain and palpitations with dizziness are happening more and more often, and sometimes my right foot will go numb for no reason I can think of. Oh, and one last thing, almost every evening, around or after like 7:00pm or so, I will feel weak and dizzy for no reason, and this has been happening for the last few weeks.
Avatar m tn My recent UltSnd shows wall thickening but no stones. I take presc Prevacid 30 2xD and it eliminates any GERD I have had. I have constant gas/burping. I have no pain except that occasionally I do have a dull ache at GB location and radiates up my right neck. I always had kind of what I thought was a GERD pain up my right chest thru neck. My stomach seems upset a lot. Last night aft eating fried softshell crab sandwich, 6 raw oysters and fried tomato, 3 beers.
Avatar f tn 24 hr tape showed no abnormality, some supraventricular ectopics(which i never felt), but was told thats normal. I have had palpitations on and off for years, but usually only related to stress/hormonal times in month, alcohol. They were a bit more frequent towards end of last year, hence the ECG. Anyway, cardiologist has seen results, and ruled out any serious causes of short pr interval(I was terrifeid it was WPW at first, but he sees no sign of that).
Avatar n tn I am a 27 year old female who has recently, in just the past 3 months started with heart palpitations. I have an aunt on my mothers side who has heart palpitations and my grandfather on my mothers side died of a heart attack. I have no insurance so I don't know if I need to see a Dr. or if this is normal. About every 2 to 3 days I start out of nowhere with a heartbeat that skips around the 9th to 13th beat.
Avatar f tn Im 30 weeks and everything gives me heart burn even juice... the only thing that doesn't give me heart burn is water what can i do?
Avatar f tn Hello all! I'm a 27 yr old married man with a 6week old baby girl! I have anxiety and panic disorder. My gp tells me I'm healthy as a horse, besides my slightly elevated blood pressure. I take 20mg benicar, Prevacid, and 5mg buspirone twice daily. I had a stress test about a year ago that came back good. A couple weeks ago I wore a 24hr holter monitor because I was feeling like I was missing a breath or my heart was skipping! It is an odd sensation.
Avatar f tn I just finished a 5 day z pack that was prescribed for a sinus infection that was giving me severe headaches. My heart started to feel funny and I looked at the insert which said could cause irregular hearbeats. I've taken this medication in the past with no issue. I do not have any cardiac disease but I do smoke, should I just wait for about 5 days to see if once the meds are out of my system I'm ok, or should I go see a doctor or go to the ER?
