Prevacid and h pylori

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and h pylori

prevacid

Avatar n tn I had an endoscopy about 7 years ago and the doctor said something very similar. He did say that I did not have H. pylori at that time. He put me on Prevacid and I have been on it untill about 6 months ago. The prevacid was no longer working that well so the doctor switched me to Protonix.
Avatar n tn We have tried everything with H. pylori. Nothing has worked. This has been for several years now. The EE is being exasperated by the Hp and my lining is almost gone from the acid. Thank you for the site. I have eliminated things that bother me more than others, however, I'm in constant discomfort, vomit daily, in the morning, etc.
Avatar n tn Pylori infection, gastroparesis, gastritis (which could be caused by both H. Pylori and gastroparesis). Go back to your doctor and inquire about having a gastric emptying exam, an H. Pylori breath test, and/or and EGD. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.
388842 tn?1221748498 After a while taht went away and after doing a scope she was Diagnosed with H-pylori and has done 2 rounds of antibiotics. The first round in May and the 2nd just 2 weeks ago. Her stomach pain has not subsided and now she has a burning sensation in her stomach, which is a new symptom. I called her Gastro Dr and they dont know what to do and said that they will call me back. She is currently on 60mg of prevacid and take childrens Maalox .
Avatar f tn Mary, the prevacid will not kill off the bacteria. Your doc is not correctly handling the bacterial problem - if that problem is indeed H. pylori. He's going against the currently recommended treatment for the problem and he may be unfortunately prolonging your discomfort. Stomach issues such as reflux, GERD, etc., are hard enough to handle, so he's not doing you any favors.
Avatar n tn Have you been tested for H. pylori? If you haven't, do so as the presence of the bacteria is suggested to contribute to bad breath.
1224359 tn?1267048572 I've had H Pylori for almost 6 months now. I was put on a triple threat antibiotic for 2 weeks and when that didn't cure the H Pylori, I was put on a 10 pills a day regiment for another 2 weeks. However, I'm still having my regular symptoms and through the last week bloody stools have increased. Is it possible H Pylori is still in my system and I need to take more antibiotics or could this be more?
388842 tn?1221748498 Hello... I am posting about my daughter who is 5. She has GERD, has tested positive for H-Pylori 2x's and finished both rounds of meds and has Chronic stomach pain with a new symptom.. burning in her stomach.. She is scheduled for another EGD on the 23rd.. I think that they are going to see if she has an ulcer.. but I am wonder if there is anything else that they should be looking for. They have done blood tests (previously) for H-Pylori. Neg blood test, H-pylori (EGD)Positive biopsy.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was recently diagnosed with reflux, blew a positive H Pylori and am on 7 days of the HP Pac. Is the Prevacid necessary to kill the bacteria? I know it may help overall with acid into my esophagus but I want to know if it is specifically necessary to make the antibiotics more effective. thank you!
963268 tn?1312900315 I had an ulcer caused by H. pylori, and I used an antibiotic three times a day for 10 days. I also took an acid reducer once a day that healed by stomach lining. Today, I take one Prilosec, 20-mg, and I have no pain. If you have gastritis and are not taken medication specifically for gastritis, your stomach lining can become worst, and you might develop an ulcer. If I were you, I would require your doctor, not his office staff, to confirm whether or not you have/had an ulcer caused by H.
Avatar m tn Early February I had an upper GI done when I had incredible stomach pain and they found two duodenal ulcers. I was prescribed Prevacid 30mg once a day and after a while the symptoms went away. Two weeks later, they came back worse than ever and I went to see a specialist who upped my dose to 30mg twice a day and carafate. I have an endsocopy scheduled for the end of August but I'm barely functioning because of my fear of this being stomach cancer.
Avatar n tn My 9 month old son has had severe Reluxdiesease, but a Natralpathic doctor thinks it is H-pylori. He has been on Prevacid for 7 months and I think the natropathis doctor is right? Any experience with this out there? Help!!!
Avatar m tn I had a blood test and biospies during my endoscopy and both did not show any H. Pylori. I forgot to mention that my doctor says its non-ulcer dyspepsia.
Avatar m tn I had h pylori twice, and the antibiotics really destroyed me. I am now taking Prevacid in very high doses. Before you try to eliminate this h pylori again read about if you really need to. Also, I think that urea test was done way too soon after the first time! Good luck to you! And hang in there, I've been dealing with this bad stomach thing for years! Watch what you eat and drink, and get a second opinion!
Avatar n tn Then she began vomitting and her food wasnt digesting properly so they did an EGD and they did a biopsy for H-Pylori and it was positive. That diagnosis hasnt been the answer to our prayers after 2 rounds of antibiotics and the new symptom of burning in her stomach she is going for another EGD on the 23rd. Maybe she should be tested for H-pylori?
Avatar m tn The patients also had upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and gastric biopsy for the detection of H. pylori using histopathology and PCR. RESULTS: Helicobacter spp. DNA was detected in two out of 75 liver biopsy samples (2.6%), which were typed as H. pylori by DNA sequencing. One of these patients had chronic hepatitis C infection (man, 51 years old) and the other had nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (woman, 44 years old). Fifty-two out of 75 of the patients (69.3%) had H.
Avatar f tn I have h pylori too and an ulcer going in for an endoscope next week . the 2 week regimen is awful and I couldn't do it cause I have a 9 month old consists of 2 antibiotics either amoxicillin and erythromycin or tetracycline and flagyl .. and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment .
Avatar m tn I discovered I have a hiatus sliding hernia and gerd/acid reflux. Had endoscopy less than a year ago. On prevacid 60 mil. still symptomatic. Burping gas- regurgitation etc. My question is ...recently- I began having pressure to have a bm while eating? even after going. feels like I never went.. I'm having intestinal sounds and rumbling all the time and will have 2 or 3 bms a day. They have been softer but normal no bleeding....no weight loss other than 3 pounds at the docs office last week.
Avatar f tn I started them today. My question is, can H. Pylori cause extreme hot and cold flashes. Could it possibly be from the anesthesia from the surgery I had? Maybe even side effect of the actual surgery? This is keeping me from getting a good night rest and I am exhausted. I can’t afford to keep going to the Dr. so I am hoping for some sort of insight and also a recommendation of anything I can take to help control it. I have been keeping an eye on my temperature but it’s always around 97.8.
Avatar f tn said I had acid reflux and gastritis but did not take any tests other than an h. pyrloi blood test which was negative and just based it off of my symptoms. I do have a family history of various stomach issues which made him think it was IBS. After the upper endoscopy I was told I had a Hital Hernia right below my sternum where I have been having pain and that my stomach had redness. He took biopsies to check for celiac (gluten intolerance), and H. Pyroli bacteria.
Avatar f tn bloated, loss of appetite with weight loss, always feeling full with occasional stomach pains. His stool test came up negative, so we believe that the h pylori is gone. Does anybody know how long after eradication of the h pylori bacteria, that the symptoms should go away? My son needs to gain weight so that he can grow, but at the present he just cannot eat enough. Do you think he should have endoscopy?
