Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and blood pressure

prevacid

Avatar n tn Hello Exforge is a combination of Amlodipine and Valsartin. A calcium channel blocker and ACE inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure. Possible side affects include indigestion as well as numbness and tingling of the extremities (feet and hands). I would call your doctor to describe these side affects so that he/she can assess the severity to determine if the medication needs to be stopped and changed to something else.

Avatar m tn I am 46 and the past year or so I have had weird problems with eating and then getting blood pressure to go up, it went up to 187 over 150 just recently, and wouldn't go down until I took two more blood presure pills. This was at night and the whole next day I was weak like my heart had over worked itself. (My Question is) Are the other people affected taking Prevacid, and Lisinopril. I am wondering if there is a corilation.
Avatar f tn It's been 3 weeks since I had my blood pressure checked at the doctor's office. Every time I go to the doctor I get super nervous and my bp is always up. My entire life I've had a fear of going to doctors so I hadn't been to one in 5 years before all of this started. Last week when I went to the general surgeon, for consultation about the upper endoscopy, they did not check my bp. It's over this past week where it's been running abnormally low.
Avatar m tn So, my question is, is it possible that a repair might take the pressure off the vagus nerve and in turn lessen the vt?
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.
Avatar n tn I have had a persistnt cough since January 15. My blood pressure medication has been adjusted, I have been tested by a pulmonary specialist (mild asthma), a GI specialist has tested me for my level of acid reflux. I do have acid reflux; however, none of the medications and inhalers I have received relieve me from the persistent, daily, productive cough. I do not cough at night when I am lying down. The coughing starts immediately upon arising and contiunues all day until I, again go to bed.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms are identical to my symptoms of low-blood pressure and dehydration. I know now how to recognise the symptoms and the first thing I did after the dizziness, fainting, sweating, and shaking chills, was to check my blood pressure. My BP was 67/58/70. A normal BP is about 120/70/70. I began drinking 8 glasses of fluid a day for a week, and all the symptoms disappeared and I felt fine. Try flavored water to help you drink the daily amount of fluid.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar f tn had no real concerns only that due to my son suffering from GERDs, she saw in the xray that the bile is backing up into the stomach. This was the same thing she told me 3 years ago and prescribed Prevacid and now prescribed Nexium. There were bad news, however, when the Dr. got the results from the sonogram. She found a lesion on my son's pancreas and the liver is enlarged. Lab results also show the liver enzymes slightly higher. A CT Scan is pending (in 2 weeks!).
952934 tn?1248948744 Repeated procedures have changed the environment of your arteries and veins. Get your dopamine and serotonin blood levels checked. History of taking drugs and certain medications should be looked into. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn ) Sometimes he would have palpitations and when he took his blood pressure on the home monitor machine, the arrthymia symbol would appear. He went to ER and to the cardiologist more than once to be checked out and they did EKGs, echocardiogram tests, etc. and could not come up with any heart cause for the palpitations. He worried that maybe the Nexium or Prevacid, etc. might be causing or aggravating the palpitations.
Avatar n tn My recomendation is to be tested for Free T3, Free T4 and antibodies also. Last year I also started with medications like yours and my TSH was at 6.22. I was retested six months later and all are well.
Avatar n tn i have had bright red blood in my stool for a few days now but very little to no pain, could it be from my taking prevacid?
1479013 tn?1330699762 I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over. I wake up in the middle of the night with this feeling of not being able to breathe--like I need to move into a different position that doesn't constrict my lungs and my heart will feel like it's racing.
1736607 tn?1310577168 I have been on this very strict diet, drinking many glasses of water a day, taking prevacid, probiotics, digestive enzymes, zantac, gas ex, activated charcoal and other supplements to try to find something that will at least help lessen the symptoms. I am also on bystolic for high blood pressure (which got high last year when these burping, PVC symptoms started and my doc believes it's high because of the GI stress).
Avatar m tn Hi I am a 29 years old male, been healthy all my life. I don't drink but I do smoke, like 7-8 cigarettes per day, sometimes less. About 2 months ago I started having stomach cramping and chest pain. When it started it hurts so bad I couldn't even eat. After a few days I went to the doctor and he prescribe me a H2 blocker (forgot name sorry).

I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions? I would hate to do more damage when I ma trying to correct already done damage.
Avatar f tn I actually got my lab results this morning and all is back to normal!! I am also taking Prevacid 30mg which I believe can also raise AST/ALT. I stopped taking it a few days before this testing and all seems good. Now I wonder if it is the prevacid???? I took the Cozaar the night before these labs were drawn but now have been off the meds for 1 week. BUN/CREATININE RATIO NOT APPLICABLE 6-22 BILIRUBIN, TOTAL 0.5 N 0.2-1.
Avatar m tn I was told to cut back the Prevacid to once a day. My blood work shows no obvious problems. Has prevacid been linked to Osteoporosis? This discussion is related to Prevacid and Osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn The Prevacid may not be working as good as you believe. Here's my suspicion: You may already have low acid levels, w/o taking Prevacid. The main cause of the GERD, Erosive Esophagitis or related condition is mainly LOW acid levels, which cause intra-abdominal pressure increase, pushing the lower esophageal sphincter to open and allow gastric acid to enter the esophagus.
Avatar n tn hello, I have been taking Prevacid 30mg self dissolving for 6 months prescribed for GERD.My cholesterol has always been in the 200-225 range. i had blood work done and now my cholesterol is 160 without any changes except for the Prevacid. Can Prevacid lower cholesterol ? I was worried because I have read that an unexplained drop in cholesterol could mean cancer someplace.
Avatar n tn Hello, My daughter had the samething and ended up with Reflux Disease and the specialist put her on prevacid and I had to switch her to Enfamil Nutramigen. The Enfamil Nurtramigen with a combination of prevacid worked excellent.
