Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and acne

prevacid

I have tested this now for the second time...went off prevacid during the summer and acne completely cleared in 2 weeks...went back on the med and it all came back...I am now off again and going to ask for something different next week at my doctor appt. Good luck.
i got acid detox bumps on my body in the ofrm of small pink bumps, as well as increased acne, and my tongue has gotten white......i hear gurgling gas sounds under my lower ribcage as well. i am wondering is the acid going into my lungs and causing breathing problems? i am worried about pulmonary fibrosis as well. what tests can be done to diagnose if the acid is going into my lungs?
My last GI doc, a professor, said there could be a tie between the nerves of the GI tract and the heart, he prescibed Aciphex 20 MG (like Prevacid and Prilosec but without side effects). I'm on week four and my PVCs are 1 or 2 a day (mostly in the AM) down from 400 a day. (another note: a cardio gave me prevacid last summer, did not help the PVCs, there may be something else Aciphex is doing that helps with PVCs.
The hepatologist says that it was caused by the minocycline that she was taking for acne. She has some scarring on her liver and is currently taking prednisone. The doctor hopes that this won't be a lifelong disease since it appears to be drug induced. This has been and still is, very frightening for us. I pray a lot.
I wasn't on medications except for prednisone for 5 days due to random hive outbreaks back in college and a low dose antibiotic when I was a teenager for acne. A dentist once prescribed me something to get rid of thrush, but it didn't work, because it isn't thrush. I had one episode where my entire mouth tasted metalic for about a week and it all became inflamed. The doc did a full blood panel test and everything showed normal. He prescribed prilosec....what a joke. It wasn't due to reflux.
my dermatologist had prescribed me some antibiotics for acne and strangly they helped my bloating disappear for awhile as well. I am also dealing with constipation. I want to know if its possible that parasites or bacteria can live in the stomache for a long while and if so can they cause chronic gastritis and bloating?
Usually my jaw hurts along with it and the pain comes on randomly and has been going on before I even started taking Synthroid. I have been on Prevacid, it didn't work, then they had me take Metoclopramide 10mg that gave me diarrhea and made me tired all the time so I got taken off that and they put me on Aciphex.20mg I've been on that almost a month now, and its working a little on the nausea in the mornings, but does nothing for the pains.
I currently take tetricycline for adult acne, prevacid every other day, 1 aspirin daily. Along with a well balanced meal, i drink 1/2 to 1 quart of grapefruit juice a day and have for 2 years. I have heard of the dangers of drinking grapefruit with medications and am careful not to drink GF juice within a couple of hours of taking my meds. For about 1 month I have been slow to urinate. I drink plenty of water daily.
Also, I have found myself getting a lot of persistent minor infections, mainly in my gums. Also, acne has started to appear on my face and shoulders. This is not due to a hygeine issue. My doctor told me he thinks I may have H. Pylori and scheduled me for a blood work and kidney and liver function test. This exam was on a busy day and so was less than 5 minutes long. The blood work came back 'satisfactory', and the kidney/liver function test came back with a very high bilirubin count.
Now my periods have stopped, and I'm not pregnant, my Gynecologist already tested me.I'm also getting acne which I never get zits and I have 4 right now. Its been 4 months since I have gotten my period, my Gynecologist it seems is the only doctor willing to help, she had some blood work done to check my hormones I (no results yet) and then she wants to do an ultrasound on my ovaries. She also is having me write down everything I eat because she does not believe me that I am not overeating.
My doc has looked down my throat, I've recently had an endoscopy with negative results and I've told him about the radiation therapy for acne when I was young. He felt my thyroid and said everything feels normal. Anybody out there with similar symptoms that may be able to shed some light on what may be going on? Thanks, Bill.
This would indicate that OT is a bacteria that specifically feeds on sugars and glucose. 3. PREVPAC which includes Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid has worked for quite a few but not all who've tried it. I believe that it is the Amoxicillin that works, especially for those who haven't had OT for an extended time. 4. Doxicycline appears to be an effective antibiotic that cures most OT sufferers who've tried it.

The Urologist wants me to take Cipro for the Prostatitis and all three Dr's say your fine, take the Cipro. I have been medicated my whole life(for acne, reflux, etc...) and had a friend diagnosed with a liver disease which has sent me off on this crazy tangent. I feel ok physically most the time, but when I get worked up I get the sore shoulders/neck and become an anxious mess. Are these signs of liver problems?
If it was simple gastritis from the antibiotic (or even the pizza) then the prevacid would have made a noticeable improvement. I usually take prevacid or pepcid or tagamet with antibiotics along with acidopholus capsules to ward off stomach upset and yeast problems. I really think you have something more going on than simple gastritis - from whatever cause. In your case, I think a visit to a gastroenterologist would be a good start in getting to the bottom of your problem.
Dear Ellen, It is difficult to provide any detailed, specific information without knowing more about your son's medical history and the normal values in the lab. The elevations of alt and ast indicate that liver cells are either leaking enzyme or are being damaged. There are a number of possible causes for this problem. Fatty liver is a very common cause. Drug-induced liver elevations (in this case related to acetaminophen)is possible.

We switched to unscented everything and my asthma disappeared as did my son's baby acne. Now we cannot STAND anything scented at all. I learned that if I wanted my laundry to smell nice, hanging it on the line was the perfect trick. (not recommended for jeans, makes them too crunchy.
For the last 4 years, I have been hypothyroid - weight gain 30 pounds+, listless and fatigued, mood swings - tendency towards depression, joints swollen and stiff, sleepless nights, lower mental awareness and speech, hair loss, and wild hair growth - random, mostly facial and neck. Take synthroid (L-Thyroxin) was 100mg now 75mg which makes me nausated and dizzy - go back to bed or have to sit down.
I also had problem getting water down and probably drank less and was no doubt somewhat dehydrated for much of treatment. You might try some of the flavored drinks like Gatorade or Vitamin Water. That is, if they don't make the reflux worse which they did for me. Camomille tea seemed to have a slight soothing effect on my stomach. At one point, I'd brew some Camomille, mix it with a quart or two of water, add a little honey and drink that instead of water.
I get these RANDOM strong hiccups as well, and like you, doctor's looked at me crazy and prescribed Prevacid and it did not help. They do sometimes cause me to (excuse the TMI) throw up a little, even during my sleep, I am woken by them.... They are LOUD that I get ALOT of "bless you"'s with people thinking I just sneezed to even SCARING people at work and around me.
the change has been drastic, now he smiles and laughs, even laughs at the cats! Not sure about the rash, Benoit had some red rash on his face at some point because of the heat and he also had baby acne. Good luck, it's very frustrating to watch your baby in pain and not knowing how to help him! Yes don't hesitate to switch doctor, it is so important to have someone you trust - we quickly ditched our first baby doctor, he was not caring enough.
I recommended Zinc to her and although she was insulted and offended, she tried it. She was acne free on her wedding day and thanked me so much... LOL (My second husband also had terrible acne and I gave him Zinc - cleared it right up.) I think I would ask the doctor for a print out of my EKG and take it to a cardiologist to let him determine if medication is necessary. If your heart is okay, we can celebrate... if not, at least you can start taking care of it now.
How much minocyline are you taking and can you stop taking it and live with the acne? And have you seen a doctor about your acute anxiety? At your age I do not think ALS would be the problem but get checked to give you a sense of relief that it is nothing but anxiety.
You've got to remember that your still a teenager and probably in the most stressful period of your life so far and whilst your dealing with that, you're also dealing the normal hormonal changes, impulse maturity, peer pressures, alcohol (legal drinking age in OZ) your expectations and new adult responsibilities etc and if you were prescribed Roaccutane for acne, that definitely could of been a negative contributing factor.
My wife drove me to a clinic where I was put on a EKG machine and the clinic Doc advised all ok gave me some Meclizine put me back on Prevacid (which I had been on years earlier) for Acid reflux and sent me on my way. At this time I did not have a Primary Doc and made an appointment with one. This doc did Complete Labs, and found nothing but elevated EBV numbers.
I have had chronic bacterial infections in my sinuses, tonsels and throat for the past two months and have been on many rounds of antibiotics, my infections are gone but I was left with a strong deep cough and now phlegm and swelling in my throat. No doctors have been able to tell me what it could be, my ear nose throat specialist said it was most likely acid reflux disease, but I don't buy that.
I had a reaction after four B12 injections in 4 weeks - shortness of breath for three days and an acne rash covering my face, chest and belly which took 4 months to go away. Btw, a video worth checking out on youtube: "Diagnosing and Treating Vitamin B12 Deficiency." It's great weather here. A nice 27.3 C at 11:30 pm.
Hello, I am a 38 year old female who has suffered from GERD for approximately 18 years. Throughout these years I have been on and off PPI's. Prilosec seems to be the only one that has worked after trying numerous kinds thru the years. I have had esophageal dilitations because of esophageal strictures and hiatal hernia, which was diagnosed many years ago. I have learned the necessary dietary restrictions and lifestyle modifications seeing as I have suffered from this problem for so long.
