contractions

Avatar f tn I'm 39 weeks and I don't know if I'm going into preterm labor. I've been having cramps and can't bend down without getting some pain and it feels like his pushing down. Is that preterm labor?
Avatar f tn Anyone else having a problem with preterm contractions? My first born was 4 weeks early so my doctor feels that this one will come early as well. It's nerve wrecking because even though she knows I'm at risk, they aren't doing much to prevent it prevent it other than giving me meds to stop them which makes me really tired. I'm a grad student in my last semester of classes and they would rather pull me from school than find other preventative measures.
Avatar f tn I'm scared I'm not gonna know the difference between contractions and just pain from stretching muscles. I get pains here and there but that is from the growing. I don't want to go into preterm labor and I'm trying to stay hydrated and I know dehydration can lead to preterm labor. How will I know if I'm in preterm labor?
Avatar f tn Hi, I spent Sunday morning and Monday morning in the hospital to stop contractions. Only 34 weeks. My cervix was last checked on Monday and was given medication to control contactions. All contractions stopped, now after 60 hours since my cervix was checked I have alot of spotting and mucous. Could this be the start of labor? My first child was induced so I never experienced alot of the symptoms of labor.
980779 tn?1248486218 We have been here for three days now. First she had minor contractions, dilation (3cm), with continuation of bloody discharge. She recieved her steroid for lung development and is now on a magnesium drip because of her increased contractions. I've read about the pro's and cons of the magnesium and right now all we can do is hope that the contractions slow/stop...unlikely though.
Avatar m tn Im currently 35w 5d & having pretty frequent, extremely uncomfortable contractions. they do not stop w changing position or drinking water & laying on my left side. at my last OB appt (4 days ago), I was a fingertip dilated. this is my second child and my first was born at 38 weeks..is this normal? could my due date be off by a whole month? so confused.
Avatar f tn My question is, has anyone ever been diagnosed with preterm labor and got the steroid shots and everything but ended up making it past 37 weeks. Which to some doctors is considered full term. If so what are your stories.
Avatar n tn t changed yet but inmy previous pregnancy I was dilated at 2 cm in my eighth month after the same kind of contractions I experience now. But my doctor keeps sending me home after I just was admitted for preterm labor contractions because of the result of the fetal continental test ( ffn).
Avatar f tn t hurt at all with contractions. (Went into preterm labor with my second born also) with this preterm labor I cramped for almost a month especially when up moving around. I kept asking my ob's midwife (who I seen more then my Ob) why I was hurting so bad, that it wasn't normal. She gave me every excuse in the book, round ligament pain, dehydration.
Avatar f tn Im 31 weeks and 3 days and today I was told i was having mild preturm labor. They didnt give me anything to stop the contractions. Just a shot for the babies lungs. Told me not to work out anymore, and to take it easy but compelety on bed rest..just dont over do it. My question is if anyone has had this happen and make it to at least 36 weeks or above. My other question is they told us not to have intercorse. Does that mean for me not to orgasm or just to avoid the intercorse.
Avatar f tn This is my 3rd pregnancy and is 100% different then my first 2. Could these be signs of preterm labor?
Avatar f tn My body as well has a high tolerance for pain , but my contractions were beyond strong with both pregnancy to normally dilate someone but I never dilated . With my 2nd baby , I never dilated even with strong contractions but I did thin out to 75% . I also had a csection with both my babies . My other friend had her baby girl at 32 weeks and her daughter is perfectly fine and just turned a year old ! Her daughter was only in the nicu for bout 2-3 weeks I think .
Avatar f tn They're probably just Braxton hicks, but they could be preterm contractions. I'm 29 weeks with twins and have been having preterm contractions since 25 weeks. They aren't painful (neither are Braxton hicks) but they come in a regular timed schedule. When I went to the hospital they were 3-5 minutes apart but they weren't dilating my cervix at all. They gave me a medicine to slow contractions down.
2169899 tn?1354674056 so this morning when I awake I was fine thought it was over and now im having contractions in the front now...there not painful just really tight uncomfortable coming and going...do yall think I should head to l&d to be evaluated or its normal...
1931709 tn?1335833095 I have experienced preterm labor with every pregnancy (this is my 4th). The contractions I have are just tightening in the whole belly and it is uncomfortable. Mine are not extremely painful but uncomfortable. Plus if you have 5 in an hour then you should call the dr because then they can check to see if they are actually contractions and check the cervix. I have been told the only difference between Braxton Hicks and preterm labor is if the cervix dialates. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I keep having really strong contractions. This is my second pregnancy and I didn't feel my contractions with my first. These are bad, they feel like they're pushing the baby down. I'm type 1 diabetic and kinda worried. What should I do???
11102939 tn?1415364474 Yes with my first pregnancy I experienced preterm labor and had my son 4wks early. And I'm pregnant again, stated having contractions about a month ago, I'm 2cm and 80% effaced. My first pregnancy I didn't know what's contraction was so I went to the hospital at 4cm they stopped it and I was on bed rest up until I had him at 36wks. This time around I'm having a girl, they put me on bed rest at 30wks and now were just waiting it out.
3057436 tn?1359314638 Don't stress about preterm labor. For me I was given a pill that stopped the contractions. I took them from 26 weeks till I delivered at 38. I had mild contractions the whole time but the pill kept them from going anyplace. Oh but they will give you steroid shot just in case for the baby lungs.
Avatar f tn I was gonna post a similar post, Im gonna be 22 wks tomorrow and since last Wednesday I've been having contractions on and off. This is pregnancy #5 so I know it's not impossible but I didn't expect to get them this soon. My last pregnancy I ended up in the hospital 3× due to preterm labor they had to give me injections to stop them. Im Praying this little one stays put til DD.
Avatar f tn Back pain is really common during pregnancy. But no it isnt preterm labor. Your baby may have dropped which can cause more back pain.
Avatar n tn I would for sure go in and get checked. I started preterm labor around 27 weeks with my first pregnancy (twins) they gave me shots weekly to stop it but I only made it to 32 weeks.
Avatar f tn t be able to tell the difference between preterm contractions and preterm labors (which dilates and effaces cervix) without pelvic exam. If the latter, the sooner you discover it and jump on MgSO4 the better!
Avatar n tn So today ive been having like an urge to pee and pressure down low, but when I go barely anything comes out... Tmi but I had sex like a hour ago and now im having contractions like every five minutes ... Rated at at 7 on a pain meter..... know BH are normal after intercourse but they shouldn't be painful... I'm only 35w3d so I'm hoping they stop soon. .. Any suggestions ladies?????
Avatar f tn Im So Confused Right Now , I'm 20 Weeks and I'm Having Very Painful Contractions . It's Been Happing For two days now ! Is that normal for that to happen this early in a pregnancy?
Avatar f tn and arent having any preterm labor. So, i dont think the shooting vaginal pain is anyway related to my preterm labor...i think its just another lovely pregnancy side effect and at 25 weeks your baby is getting bigger now and could be pinching a nerve (that could be why you feel it when ur walking but not while sitting...because of babies positioning).
796506 tn?1370188305 I've been having some. I never noticed BH contractions with my daughter but with this pregnancy I notice them all the time. My doctor told me just to drink more water and not to run around as much. Usually it helps, but not always.
