Prempro hot flashes

Common Questions and Answers about Prempro hot flashes

premarin

Avatar f tn s nurse returned my call which I had left asking for something to relieve my hot flashes since I had gone off the Prempro. My doctor wants me to go back on the Prempro until I feel better, and then in 4-6 months do a taper. Have any of you done this method? I explained to the nurse that because of the benign cysts diagnosed on the Mammogram and Ultrasound, and two previous benign biopsies, I'd prefer not to go back on the Prempro.
Avatar f tn After a few weeks I started experiencing hot flashes and insomnia. After calling my doctor, she recomended going back on the Prempro and doing a very gradual taper which would take 42 weeks. This is the only treatment she will recommend for me. I really do not want to go back on the Prempro. My question - are there any other alternative drugs or treatments, other than estrogen, to help with the side effects of stopping the Prempro. Thank you for taking my question and for any help.
Avatar n tn The only symptom I really experienced during that time was hot flashes. Recently I have been concerned that I was going through depression. Now I don't belive that is the case. Could I be experiencing mood swings due to menopause this long after my last period (1 1/2 years ago); even if I never experienced them when going thorugh menopause?
Avatar f tn Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar f tn Thanks. Not too late. Have not started Effexor yet because I'm still getting hot flashes due to stopping the Prempro. It's been 4 mos. Interesting finding. Had mammogram after 4 mos off the prempro. No calcs, but remarkable said radiologist was that my cysts all had shrunk or disappeared in the 6 mos since last mammogram. Also less density. So I feel comfortable waiting for the flashes to settle down before trying the Raloxifene and if needed, Effexor.
Avatar n tn I am 49 and think I have been going through perimenopause for a few years( periods irregular, increased anxiety, heart racing, trouble with memory, occasional hot flashes). The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me.
Avatar n tn t feel right, my emotion are all over the place, hot flashes, aches and pains, and more tired than usual. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Did your Doctor say it was OK to continue taking Prempro? I'm look forward to hearing from you.
Avatar f tn I am personally not a big fan of supplemental estrogen. The information on it also very clearly states to tell your doctor if you are having unusual vaginal bleeding! As in, if it was not time for your period or you are bleeding more than usual, call your doctor back. Depression and anxiety are also side effects for some women who take it. Unless you have unmanageable hot flashes, I'm not sure it is necessary to put yourself through this!
Avatar f tn She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing. I decided to give the Prempro a try against my better judgment to see if it helped me feel better because I was feeling pretty desperate! I took my 2nd dose today and I still hate it down to my very soul.
Avatar f tn Since I am prone to hot flashes, doc prescribed Effexor, an anti-deppresant known to combat hot flashes to take along with the Evista. I hate the idea of taking a med to offset SE's caused by another med. I was hoping that my flashes would be gone by now so that I wouldn't get a double whammy of them when I started the Evista. But I think valuable time is going by. I have an appt with the onc on July 8th.
Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy 2 years ago i have hot flashes and night sweats it is severe i have tried everthing at the wal mart pharmacy over the counter nothing is working im going crazy pls help me on wat to do
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
Avatar f tn I was 39 when it started and am going strong with no periods and sometimes up to 20 hot flashes a day!! What do you do for those hot flashes! ???????
Avatar f tn I am currently on 2 mg Estrace. I am having terrible hot flashes to the point that I wake up in a puddle of sweat, then I get freezing cold. I have been researching varrious HRT' on micromedex. I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects. Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
Avatar f tn what do you think I know women in their seventies on HRT..and having same problems as me ..dryness, sweating, mood swings and hot flashes...that are unbearable... I have used vagifem....tablets which you can look at on the internet to read about them..a hormone tablet inserted into the vagina... They are costly..but I do not think anything will help us but hormones such as these for the vaginal area... I burn all the time even using the vagifem..
518798 tn?1295212279 Being emotional is a big part of it but also night sweats, hot flashes. being iritiable and the hot flashes were the worse for me. I take prempro dailey now and feel much better. Only bloodwork can measure the level of hormones in your system to tell the dr if you are in premenapuase, full blown menapause or not at all. Call your dr on Monday and make an appointment, Only your dr can really help you with this one.
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me how long it takes for HRT to start working? I have been taking estradiol and norethindrone acetate for almost two weeks and so far I don't feel very much better. It has helped the hot flashes somewhat but the other symptoms are about the same. Isn't it supposed to help with sleep. This is so miserable. I still cry everyday and the shaking is still bad. This menopause is the worst. I wish I could have been one of those who breezed through it.
Avatar f tn Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. All of which I thought was monopause. I don't know what to do. I am so scared and confused. I had an echocardigram done and the cardiologist said there were some abnormalities. I wonder if these symptoms could have something to do with a heart problem? I have to wait until he makes another appointment for me.
Avatar n tn 5 mg I think, and it does help. I sleep much better and most of the hot flashes are eliminated, I do however still have some night sweats and occasionally the numb hand. I want to try to step down one more level but I don't know if I will ever get off completely. I started menopause very suddenly at 42 and I am now 57. It has been a struggle for me. PS: I tried wearing a wrist support at night for a while and it seemed to help some. You might want to try that. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn As for the anxiety, do yourself a favor and give Wisdom Menopause Formula a try. It has made a huge difference for me, and it took care of the hot flashes and night sweats as well. I know six or eight women who are taking it, and I've heard nothing but praise. Please let us know what your doctor says!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Every time i do anything that exerts energy such as cleaning and then i go to lay down i get really bad hot flashes
Avatar m tn I want to know if this causes hot flashes with normal glucose levels at the time? Or with high glucose levels? I get hot flashed quite frequently and my temp rises. Sometimes up to 99.1, other times lower. I am a male so menopause is out. I am on Humalog and Lantus for insulin. Any help would be great. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I'm 18 weeks and I just started having hot flashes.
