Avatar f tn Was put into menopause by chemo and then with those hormonal drugs. The insomnia and those hot flashes are terrible, and when severe, really a huge big deal and interference with normal life, so I understand. I hope you get some relief. Katrin (A normal starting doe is .
Avatar f tn t work hot flashes all day and night..And I looked prempro up and it has a cancer fighting drug in it too. scary. so when I read your blog. I had to wright you and let u know that am going though the same thing. let me know if you find anything that works for you so I can talk to my doctor about it .Thanks for your time..
Avatar n tn So, yes, I would guess you could have mood swings due to menopause any time after. I am 59 and have been on Prempro for about 7 years and just went off them and my hot flashes now are worse than ever! I have severe insomnia (I take sleeping pills every night and sometimes they don't help!) I have been sleeping with the windows open even when it's getting down into the 30s and 40s at night and that helps a lot.
Avatar f tn Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar f tn She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing. I decided to give the Prempro a try against my better judgment to see if it helped me feel better because I was feeling pretty desperate! I took my 2nd dose today and I still hate it down to my very soul.
Avatar f tn I am taking Effexor XR and it has been a lifesaver for me. I am on Arimidex and was having hot flashes and was depressed after breast cancer treatment. I had been on it before and stopped taking it without any problem. I know everybody is different. It sure helped me!!!
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago and I understand what you are going through. I immediately start having hot flashes and night sweats and it was absolutly horrible. I spoke with my doctor and he put me on Venlafaxine HCL ER TSBS he said to make sure they don't give me the generic because if it is not the Venlafaxine HCL ER (extended release) it will make me sick ( throw up). I have been on it for two weeks now and it really works for me.
Avatar n tn Ironically, some of these are now seeking FDA approval for the treatments of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, and I have to wonder how many women will be told that they’re libido is likely to suffer.
Avatar n tn t feel right, my emotion are all over the place, hot flashes, aches and pains, and more tired than usual. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Did your Doctor say it was OK to continue taking Prempro? I'm look forward to hearing from you.
Avatar f tn And I do always worry about Breast Cancer links and supplemental hormones including and especially estrogen. There are some otc products that might help you better for hot flashes. This is all just my opinion.
Avatar f tn When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back. So when I found out ADH and LCIS is estrogen dependent, I weaned myself off the Prempro (all docs told me to anyway). I've been off of it for 60 days and still getting flashes. My onc wanted me to start Evista.
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
Avatar f tn I was 39 when it started and am going strong with no periods and sometimes up to 20 hot flashes a day!! What do you do for those hot flashes! ???????
Avatar f tn I am currently on 2 mg Estrace. I am having terrible hot flashes to the point that I wake up in a puddle of sweat, then I get freezing cold. I have been researching varrious HRT' on micromedex. I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects. Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
Avatar f tn what do you think I know women in their seventies on HRT..and having same problems as me ..dryness, sweating, mood swings and hot flashes...that are unbearable... I have used vagifem....tablets which you can look at on the internet to read about them..a hormone tablet inserted into the vagina... They are costly..but I do not think anything will help us but hormones such as these for the vaginal area... I burn all the time even using the vagifem..
518798 tn?1295212279 Being emotional is a big part of it but also night sweats, hot flashes. being iritiable and the hot flashes were the worse for me. I take prempro dailey now and feel much better. Only bloodwork can measure the level of hormones in your system to tell the dr if you are in premenapuase, full blown menapause or not at all. Call your dr on Monday and make an appointment, Only your dr can really help you with this one.
Avatar f tn Menopause is not fair. You sound a lot like me. I went on HRT because I was so anxious all the time, wasn't sleeping, kind of depressed and had hot flashes. The HRT helped with the hot flashes and I don't have mood swings very much anymore but the anxiety and depressed feelings are still there. My gynecologist put me on the generic for Zoloft 25mg but I only take half that. I have only been on it for about a week but I am still anxious, shaky, and don't sleep. I have Ativan .
Avatar f tn Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. All of which I thought was monopause. I don't know what to do. I am so scared and confused. I had an echocardigram done and the cardiologist said there were some abnormalities. I wonder if these symptoms could have something to do with a heart problem? I have to wait until he makes another appointment for me.
Avatar n tn 5 mg I think, and it does help. I sleep much better and most of the hot flashes are eliminated, I do however still have some night sweats and occasionally the numb hand. I want to try to step down one more level but I don't know if I will ever get off completely. I started menopause very suddenly at 42 and I am now 57. It has been a struggle for me. PS: I tried wearing a wrist support at night for a while and it seemed to help some. You might want to try that. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn As for the anxiety, do yourself a favor and give Wisdom Menopause Formula a try. It has made a huge difference for me, and it took care of the hot flashes and night sweats as well. I know six or eight women who are taking it, and I've heard nothing but praise. Please let us know what your doctor says!
Avatar f tn says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar f tn She had to have a totally historictimy(sp) at 24-26 because she had cancer, and that through her in to early menopause and so she dealt with the hot flashes for years (she is 51 now) and she finally went to the doctor and it was her body being so out of wack so the doctor put her on some hormones to help balance her out. You might also go to your local herbs store to see if they have anything that might help you out natural but always consult with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker put in about 2 months ago after ungoing 2 ablation procedures for WPW. I have been experience hot flashes during the night and also a few during the day ever since. I am wondering if this could possibly be a side effect of the pacemaker or would it be happening anyway due to my age (52) and menopause.

237053 tn?1258828426 Then came the big Prempro crash and controversy. I stayed on it anyway for several more years without insidence then the pedulum swung back and some people have resumed its use again. The main point to me is I am pretty sure hormones have some HUGE part in MS and I so urge the drug companies to try to find out just what part they play! As pregnancy shows, something is being missed!
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar n tn do all women experience hot flashes with tamoxifen. and if not does this mean that the drug is not working This discussion is related to Tamoxifen or AI?.
