I'm glad that the Wisdom Menopause Formula has been helping you. It's been 8 weeks since I've stopped the Prempro, and the hot flashes and night sweats have actually subsided since I started using a homeopathic product called King Bio Menopause Relief. It's a spray and it sats ti spray 3 sprays 1 to 3 times/day depending on symptoms. You're so right as it is hormone h... when I first went off. I was okay the first two weeks, and then by the third week, it was terrible.
My obgyn did not want to perform the surgery at my age but I had four surgeries for very large cyst removals within a three year time period and there was a large amount of scar tissue surrounding my ovaries. I was put on Prempro following the hysterectomy. I am having very few hot flashes but I am unable to sleep at night and having alot of pain and discomfort during and after urinating. I have no sex drive at all. I've been told this is "all in my head" but I know what I'm feeling.
I had my ovca surgery (hysterectomy) in 02/1999 and STILL have problems with hot flashes (slow burns!) and night sweats. I take Evening Primrose Oil and use Menocream (I think it is.) Can't tell that they help but afraid to quit. These were both recommended by my gynecologist. These both have natural ingredients that are supposed to help. I sure wish someone could tell us that these sweats or burns or flashes only lasted ___ years, don't you gals?! ha! My best to each of you!
Prior to the surgery I took PremPro to keep the dreaded hot flashes away. I went through the change many years ago, but the hot flashes stayed with me. After the surgery, I was told to stop taking the prempro. The hot flashes have returned. I hate this waking up at night in a sweat, and having those waves of heat run over your body like being pricked by a million little pins. I still have a prescription for the prempro, and I'm tempted to start taking it again.
I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago and I understand what you are going through. I immediately start having hot flashes and night sweats and it was absolutly horrible. I spoke with my doctor and he put me on Venlafaxine HCL ER TSBS he said to make sure they don't give me the generic because if it is not the Venlafaxine HCL ER (extended release) it will make me sick ( throw up). I have been on it for two weeks now and it really works for me.
Was put into menopause by chemo and then with those hormonal drugs. The insomnia and those hot flashes are terrible, and when severe, really a huge big deal and interference with normal life, so I understand. I hope you get some relief. Katrin (A normal starting doe is .
Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
I am taking Effexor XR and it has been a lifesaver for me. I am on Arimidex and was having hot flashes and was depressed after breast cancer treatment. I had been on it before and stopped taking it without any problem. I know everybody is different. It sure helped me!!!
After the third week, I started having hot flashes and insomnia, so I called my doctor a second time to explain what I had done with stopping the Prempro and asked if she could give me something to relieve the hot flashes. She insisted the only way to overcome these hot flashes and return to normal would be to go back on the Prempro for 42 weeks. It would be six weeks on 7 pills, then the next six weeks take 6 pills and down on the line until I reached 1 pill for six weeks.
Last year I started getting very bad hot flashes and night sweats. I felt like I was on fire. I went to the doctor and he put me on Prempro because I still have my female organs. After a few weeks on the Prempro I felt so much better. Not that was the only thing I was experiencing besides not having a period. For about 2 years prior to that I had a period about every 4 to 6 months. Now my questions is is there something else I can take just for the hot flashes/night sweats?
I've had Hot Flashes now for more than 15 years, at one time I was taking a very low dose of prempro, however after discovering that my mother had Breast Cancer I stopped taking this medicine. I really have a difficult time sleeping at night... Cover On and Off all night, switching from the one end of the bed to the other. I don't have high blood preasure, but I do have problems with my kidneys (Kidney Stones). I also take prelosec everyday due to some sort of acid that can cause ulcers.
I was doing okay for a couple weeks but now get hot flashes and night sweats, along with insomnia. I've heard black cohash may help. Has anyone tried it or any other herbs/vitamins with success?
suggested that I begin HRT for the hot flashes and such. I started with Prempro for about 6 months, then was swithched to Premorin, which I took until I was 35-36yrs old. I have no information on my history b//c I was adopted. But at the age of 36, I devloped a high grade invasive ductal carcinomia which was ER/PR negitive. My first question is could the Premorin be responsible for the breast cancer?
This issue comes up alot for women who do not want to go on estrogen replacement therapy after menopause (either natural or surgically induced) but have significant estrogen deficiency symptoms such as hot flashes and insomnia. Soy products contain a plant estrogen that biochemically looks very different than animal estrogen. But there is some cross reactivity. The phytoestrogens called isoflavones seem to help many women with hot flashes.
My hormone medication was stopped at that time by my cardiologist (I was prescribed them for surgical menopause I am now 59 years old.) The hot flashes, mood swings (not too mention the PAC's and PVC's) are driving me crazy. Does any one know the efficacy or safety of using bioidentical hormones for relief. I posted this under heart rhythm, also...but have not had a response.
He tested my hormone levels and put me on Prempro. Just recently my hot flashes returned so I went back asking to recheck my hormone level and asking to go up on my meds if needed. He did a bunch of lab but no my hormone, he was also checking for RA. Anyway I went back in my lab records to find the last results for my hormones. My FSH was 117.4 and my estradiol was 56. I am unavle to find anything online to help explain these numbers. Could you please help me understand what they mean.
So, yes, I would guess you could have mood swings due to menopause any time after. I am 59 and have been on Prempro for about 7 years and just went off them and my hot flashes now are worse than ever! I have severe insomnia (I take sleeping pills every night and sometimes they don't help!) I have been sleeping with the windows open even when it's getting down into the 30s and 40s at night and that helps a lot. I'm on Estroven now but it takes weeks for it to build up enough to work.
When you are DepoProvera that shuts down your bodies hormones and therefore you can get hot flashes and low estrogen levels.
Exercise is a wonderful aid to reducing hot flashes. Stress reduction and yoga and drinking lots of water can also help. So can avoiding spicy foods and caffeine. However, the fact that you have allergies to foods that set off hot flashes, it might be a good idea to speak with an allergist to see if there are other foods that affect you as well. You might find a condition such as celiac disease or allergy to gluten.
Naim Maalouf, the study's lead author, said women considering using hormones to ease hot flashes and other menopause symptoms should "look at the bigger picture," weighing those benefits against the risks for kidney stones but also for more serious problems the pills have been linked with, breast cancers, heart attacks and strokes.

The government now recommends that hormone replacement pills only be used to relieve menopause symptoms, in low doses for the shortest possible time.
It sounds kind of like you had a seizure. Some types of seizures can come about from hyperventilation. Were you breathing really deeply when it happened?
In February I started my period 2 weeks early and it continued for 14 days. With onset, I immediately started having 6 hot flashes at night, with very emotional mood fluctuation which continued after period end. I asked for an ultrasound, and they found a 5 cm uterine tumor. CA-125 was negative, endometrial biopsy benign. Prescribed Prempro .625mg/2.5mg tab 28. for 3 months. Follow up with ultrasound to check tumor status end of June. Emotions stabilized & hot flashes stopped.
In addition, DepoProvera can cause amenorrhea ie no periods and hot flashes too.
As for the anxiety, do yourself a favor and give Wisdom Menopause Formula a try. It has made a huge difference for me, and it took care of the hot flashes and night sweats as well. I know six or eight women who are taking it, and I've heard nothing but praise. Please let us know what your doctor says!
Hormone levels have been checked and I am menopausal. Anyway, I am going to start taking Prempro for the menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, difficulty sleeping, etc. My question is Will HRT cause me to have periods again? Will it (HRT) cause the uterus lining to grow back? I have been reading about the side effects. I really don't want to start periods again.
I was 39 when it started and am going strong with no periods and sometimes up to 20 hot flashes a day!! What do you do for those hot flashes! ???????
It has helped my symptoms so much. I had horrible anxiety and hot flashes. I don't have hot flashes at all now. I have been also sleeping much better again. I found out about the i-cool at http://redhotmamas.org/. Hope this helps.
Ironically, some of these are now seeking FDA approval for the treatments of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, and I have to wonder how many women will be told that they’re libido is likely to suffer.
If fat stores extra estrogen, then I have enough for my lifetime and my grandchildren!!! Seriously, I am starting to have hot flashes 6 weeks post-op. I get and hot flash, then a mild headache. What's up with that? It happens everyday!
