It can increase your risk of breast cancer, heart disease and stroke. Of course that was synthetic hormone replacement therapy (prempro) not the bioidentical hormone replacement. So therein, lies the difference. I guess my question is are the bioidenticals safe and more efficient.
For the past 5-6 weeks, I've been having numbness/tingling in my arms, hands and legs and feet. I've also had tingling in the face area.........mouth and tongue. My eyes sometimes feel itchy as sometimes my skin. I've had headaches and felt light-headed. Sometimes my face gets flushed and so do my arms, like I'm burning under my skin. My finger joints feel sore. I can't hold a book or magazine and turn the pages, my hands and fingers feel sore.
I need something. NO FAMILY HISTORY OF CANCERS (FEMALE OR OTHER), no heart disease, etc.... Please try to address these for me. Nobody can seem to help me with the lightheadedness and I feel like I'm high all the time which honestly isn't fun to be high constantly (LOL). Peace & Love to all.....
25 climara patch and 100 mg progesterone since Dec 05. My gyn switched me to 0.3/1.5 PREMPRO, and I am down to taking 1 tab every 10 days.I plan to take 1 tab every 2 wks, then 1 tab a month for a few mo, etc.until I am noticing no more flushes and RX is finished. I am 57 years old. What do you think about my stiuation--I look and feel so dumpy. I saw a therapist for a few months and she felt I am not depressed&worked through the many family problems effectively.
I never was a smoker or much of drinker. Heart disease runs in my family. I had stents put in and 14-days later they clogged/clotted. I amost died. I've been feeling good until the last couple of months and this really scares me. I recently went in for a mammogram but haven't got the results back yet. The doctor said that I sure better check into this aching. Naturally I can't get in right away to see cardio unless I go to emergency. It's just a aching on and off almost everyday.
In addition, the population as a whole has changed with more women being overweight which is also an increased risk factor for diabetes, heart disease, colon cancer and stroke. The data on aspirin and HT together do not appear to be strong for helping prevent clots or plaque over either one. However, there does seem to be a reduced risk in colon cancer, especially in women who are obese and/or eat a lot of red meat. Probably the overall data favors taking both for overall health.

Simple question here, has anyone ever had a negative blood test and negative urine test and went on with their daily routine and a month or so later found out you were in fact pregnant while having ultrasound done. If this has happened to anyone or perhaps someone you know, please respond, I'd appreciate the information. Thanks.
She was placed on Aggrenox, a blood thinner and removed from Prempro. She is now home and the symptoms have largely gone away. I guess the theory is that somehow part of her brain was compromised but although we have been married some 28 years, I cannot determine any difference in her behavior or ability to do her daily activities. She has been asked to cut back on her exercise beginning next week. My question is this.
The primary outcome of the trial was coronary heart disease (CHD); hip fractures were a designated secondary outcome and invasive breast cancer was a designated primary adverse outcome. Additional outcomes are listed in the article. Data collection was stopped in May, 2002 (approximately 3 years early) when the researchers concluded the risks of therapy were greater than the benefits in the study population. The study was not conducted to challenge the current FDA approved uses of CEE.

), so I guess that would leave stress, but I haven't had more of THAT than usual, either. I'm 45, on Prempro for 10 years. My heart feels like it's thudding around and then absent-minded about beating. I know this isn't the worst thing in the world, but it bothers me and scares me. Is it permanent? What should I be doing other than not thinking about it????:-) How can I make it stop this nonsense! Does this make me vulnerable to heart disease or other disorders?

If the ENT person thinks your ear has no contribution, then other things have to be investigated, as vertigo is a symptom and not a disease. About 40% of Americans experience it at some time and it is more common in women and increases with age. Somethimes the cause is unknown. But in addition to an ENT person, you might want to consider a neurologist to evaluate part of the brain that can cause dizziness.
this evaluates exercise capacity, determines whether the premature beats degenerate to a more serious heart rhythm disturbance with exercise, evaluates the heart for structural abnormalities, and also examines the heart for possible blood flow problems. If this sort of evaluation does not indicate any serious cardiac condition, but the patient is still bothered by the premature beats, medications can be prescribed, with modest success. Sometimes several medications need to be tried.
low risk: less than 1.0 mg/L, average risk: 1.0 to 3.0 mg/L, high risk: above 3.0 mg/L. HRT has been shown to increase levels of hs-CRP. The HRT synthetic drug Prempro has been shown in large clinical trials to increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, blood clots, and breast cancer. My mother decided to use a phytoestrogen product instead called Phytolife (soy product) with excellent results.
html there is also a link to there FAQs that have some REALLY helpful info. Like how CO Q10 can help heart palpitations and pain. Plus an MD writes and monitors the board daily. He's got a good reputation too and gives great advice. If I were you, I'd post all of this there and see what he says. I bet he steers you in a good direction. Also, I found cutting caffeine out entirely really helps. I was only drinking one cup of coffee a day, but cutting that out has helped.
) Unfortunately, other studies show risks of heart attacks, strokes, and cancer from HRT, so a patient and her doctor would really have to discuss and weigh the costs and benefits before the administration of such drugs.
I cannot take antihistamine as it makes my heart flutter instead of beating. Same with coffee. I shower once or twice a day and keep the skin dry. I've tried calamine lotion, HC DermaPax spray, Cortizone.10 for the itching and bacitracin ointment on the areas that get infected. I called all the dermatologist in my town and another town but the first available opening was on July 29th. The itching and spreading was not going to wait that long so I went yesterday to the emergency room.
She is also experiencing growth of fatty deposits at her lower neck( right back shoulder area) and Cushings Disease has been excluded. Also, osteoporosis has been excluded. The pain is so severe that over the counter medications or prescription Naproxin has very little effect. Can anyone help with these problems? Thanks. Dear Bill, I am uncertain that all the problems described in your e-mail can be tied to a single disease process.
I no longer take ANY synthetic drugs. The Prempro and the Fosamax went in the trash long ago. And I no longer trust traditional doctors or their practice of medicine! Had I listened to them, I would have been miserable for the rest of my life.
checking on the efficacy of womens hormones on the effect they would have on heart disease in women. The study was flawed from the start, however. And, even though I am not a Premarin fan at all, there are some women who do okay on it. However, other types of hormones and hormonal delivery symptoms (meaning patches, creams, etc. vs. a pill) have come a long way in the past ten years alone.

So, doctors often don't have much information on this, or they have misinformation on it since Progesterone is often confused with the icky Progestins that are used in birth control pills and Provera and Prempro. And, many doctors think you don't need the hormone if you don't have a uterus.....EEEK!!!! We have receptors for this hormone in our brains, our lungs, etc. It helps alleviate foggy thinking, bone loss, soft tissue joint/muscle pains, etc.
Even if nothing can be done to fix my pain, isn't there some way to manage my pain better so I can return to work? THANK YOU MED HELP AND THE DOCTORS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!! 1994 July-neck pain of unknown origin. Tests revealed a disc problem at C6-C7 and the disc was removed in November. No fusion. Within 10 days of surgery, I returned to my normal schedule of working 10-14 hour days six or seven days a week, including extensive travel. 1996 January 16: Rear-ended.
My suggestion to anyone out there with herpes is to go on 1000 mg of lysine daily combined with a conscious, balanced diet, and some yoga on the side. That has kept this vicious degrading disease at bay for me and I pray that it will continue to do the trick for years and years to come.
5 yrs later I had it removed and have been flooding for 25 days with a migraine well the bleeding stoppedfor 2 weeks but lastnight it was like my water broke and blood ran down my legs it has stopped again but the migraine is still here 7 weeks straight I just turned 41 two weeks ago and have been to the Doctor and the ER they all tell me I'm fine here take pills for your head. I have hot flashes like mad and heart palpations mood swings lazy depressed and back pain.
I had two options, #1 was to have my cervix scraped and hopefully the disease wouldn't spread to my uterus. #2 was to have my cervix and uterus removed, removing any chance of the virus spreading. I chose the partial hysterectomy. I was only 27 at the time. Here I am almost 30 and steadily gaining weight regardless of the 3 miles I run daily. If I could do it all over again I would have chosen any other method known to man, other than a hysterectomy.
I am wondering about hormone replacement....my dr. suggests prempro and I am just curious if anyone has had experience with this drug...there are so many pros and cons....I just felt I would like to hear some feedback. thank you, Kate. This is a wonderful site...
