Hi, my name is Chanel and i've been on my period for about 3 weeks now and i just left the doctor's office. She prescribed premarin to help stop the bleeding but i'm very skeptical about taking it. I looked it up online and the side-effects are very frightening. The last time this happened, I was prescribed vitamin K to stop the bleeding. Can someone please clarify exactly what premarin is and how it is going to stop this bleeding?

also recommended hormonal tablet and cream which is Premarin 0.625 and premarin cream for 6 months.Now I want to know whetherr there are any side effects to it and if any, what are they and what can i do? Please let me know, as I am a bit tensed.

Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.

I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound,the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...

I finally convinced my gp doctor to check my hormone levels and according to the nurse they came back normal. My gp doctor had already prescribed Premarin for me to take at .3mg. daily. I have not had a hysterectomy. He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes.

The dr can prescribe medications such as megace to control the bleeding if severe for a short time. I have also seen IV Premarin given in the ER for severe bleeding. Just stay away from aspirin or other anticoagulants if they are not prescribed for a medical condition.

Tall to your Dr about premarin. It helps you get your period an it also doesn't affect you trying to xonciece. I was on it this is my third month.

My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. In Canada, after many years of taking Premarin, my doctor replaced this prescription with something labeled CES on the label. He told me that CES was a synthetic form of estrogen. Now that I've moved to Mexico, my doctor here doesn't know what I'm talking about and has put me back on Premarin, which is very expensive here. My blood test says 0.00 for TSH. I can't believe it, as I have always had a TSH of 2 for the past years when any doctor would check it. I never had the T3 or T4 taken, even after I had the surgery in 1983. I just went blindly along, doing whatever the doctor said.

Can I ask why you decided to stop the hormones? This is certainly the reasons for the dryness and lack of libido. Are you open to going back on them?

t make sense to 1) remove ovaries absent cancer as is done far too often, and 2) to stop taking hormone therapy at the natural age of menopause if you've had a hysterectomy and/or oophorectomy. Best to you in getting relief from these debilitating symptoms.

I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age.
