Premarin to estradiol conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Premarin to estradiol conversion

premarin

Avatar f tn I would think dose timing would be more of an issue with a straight estradiol product than Premarin but that would be worth trying if you take it at night. Are you also taking something to protect your uterus or did you have a hysterectomy? Some women find that using some progesterone can help with sleep. I took it a few nights a week to help me sleep but didn't need it once I got the right form and dose of estrogen in my system.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
718868 tn?1230730029 Hello. I am new to this site but wanted to seek a support system on something I'm dealing with. I am 26 years old and after having my daughter in 2003, I had to have a hysterectomy due to complications from endometriosis after going into labor. I was left with 1 ovary which for sometime hasn't been working properly. I'm currently taking Premarin 1.25 mg for my hormonal issues but it isn't helping very much.
Avatar f tn I am a 62 year old woman G3P3 . I had a total hysterectomy with BSO. I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend.
Avatar f tn How do I tell what is surgical menopause and what is a reaction to the patch/ Cream bioidentical estradiol? How do I tell what a hot flash is versus when I have a 99 degree temp? I have tried every dosage down to .375 and still cant handle it..tried .1 for a week felt like I was going to have a stroke. .5 totally unbearable. What can I do??? I feel I am too young to not have replacement and yet replacement feels like its hurting my body.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. Symptoms of ovarian cysts can vary quite a bit from one woman to another based on the size, type, and hormonal effects. How long have you been dealing with this?
Avatar f tn ladies have recommended and nothing seems to be working. I am not depressed or anything like that so i do not need those type medications. And even more so, I now am experiencing weight gain and all kinds of other symptoms. Please help with any and all suggestions. My doctor thinks that "in time" the symptoms will begin to subside. Well, I need help today. The emotional roller coaster is becoming to much and its affecting everyday lifestyle. i do workout 4 times a week.
Avatar n tn t need the progesterone and can take estrogen only (Premarin vs. Prempro or even the very economical generic estradiol tablets). I'm also 63 and have been on estradiol since having a hysterectomy at age 49. I worry about not being able to get a prescription as I get older.
Avatar m tn I have anxiety, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, insomnia, body aches, memory problems, difficulty concentrating and staying on tasks, no sex drive, the list goes on. My family doctor; does not seem to know what to do, so I am losing confidence in her. I remain confused about HRT, so I requested testing. My doctor says hormone testing is expensive and is not accurate; she refused to order the test. At this point I care about the expense!
Avatar f tn They had given me after surgery some samples of different strengths of Premarin, which seemed if anything to make matters WORSE. So my local family doc called in estradiol 0.025mg/day 7-day patches. Did not help at all, so then they called in a "bio-identical" estradiol 0.05mg/day patch to be changed every 3 days. This almost immediately brought relief, though still had some hot flashes (I can get through those, but NOT feeling like I'm losing my mind!).
Avatar f tn 625 and was doing well, but for the past 6 months I can not get a nornal meal down, all I eat are sweets, ceral, choclate anything and I do not feel right, I went to my OBGYN and I asked if I needed some test done to test my levels and she said it will test the same once your levels are high it will stay there, but I am telling you something is wrong, what should I do, my daughter suggested to go to an endocrinologist, I do not know what they do annd I am tired of these Dr's who do not liste
Avatar n tn I have been reading about Premarin and it can likely cause the problem. I would like to get off Premarin and take a natural hormone replacement, or should I stay on the Premarin. What do you think about that and just how do I do that? I know I shouldn't just quit taking it suddenly.
Avatar f tn I finally convinced my gp doctor to check my hormone levels and according to the nurse they came back normal. My gp doctor had already prescribed Premarin for me to take at .3mg. daily. I have not had a hysterectomy. He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes.
Avatar f tn As great as testosterone is, you would not want to take it without making sure your levels of Estradiol is optimal (post menopausal it should be at least 90 to 1110 pg/ml). You need enough estradiol in your system in order for the testosterone to work the way it is meant to work. The two hormones can then work hand in hand to help with not only sex drive, but things that can be helped with testosterone, such as chemical sensitivites, sensitivities to loud noises, mood, and bone health.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
Avatar m tn t know where to go or what to do. There has to be something to help. I saw my surgeon who mentioned he has heard of women who go into early menopause having a hard time with their hormones and it can cause horrible menopause. Has anyone heard of this and can anyone recommend a specialist to me? I'm in NJ and can get to NYC. Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I am not sure on the med you are on - but is sounds very similiar to the two I am reading about. Premarin, Provera. The main ingredient is Premarin which is short - from my reading of pregnant mares. This is a horse hormone that is labeled as equillin. There are no traces of this hormone equillin in the table of human hormones. The second component in Prempro is called Provera stated progesterone - but its really not human progesterone or progesterone at all.
898095 tn?1241885301 I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 38 and the only hormones I have been taking are premarin (lowest dose) orally and two months ago I had to commence vaginal estrogen due to vaginal atrophy. This has been a rough ride for me, and it's really good to virtually be with others that are going through the same problems. In the past year I have had major increase in foggy thinking, and terrible time with my memory!
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound, the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...
778044 tn?1299542934 Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.
Avatar f tn Do I need to continue taking Premarin .0625 or can I discontinue since I am past meopause age.
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
Avatar f tn Very recently I had a sudden severe dizzy spell that did not last long but, scared me so that I was afraid to go to sleep. I have noticed some joint swelling and extreme aching. Is it possible that this is a Lupus flare up!
Avatar n tn Can I use Premarin cream along with a yeast medication(Diflucan)? Does the moisture in the Premarin cream keep a yeast infection from healing?
691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.
