Avatar f tn Considering all the above factors, one would certainly agree that the greater the ultraviolet radiation exposure, the greater would be the risk during pregnancy and thus avoiding tanning beds during gestation would certainly be the best option for "safe maternity.
Avatar f tn Tanning beds are very bad for you in the first place and even worse when your pregnant.
1352717 tn?1276971442 Tanning beds would go against conventional wisdom of heat causing MS to be worse. If it works for you I guess that is good.
476246 tn?1418870914 Worst thing I did on tx was try to go tanning to get rid of my grey skin. How people in this day and age can't see that the sun and tanning beds are just dreadful and the ozone layer has disintegrated so much by now that it's not even as bad as going in the sun when we were kids (and remember how we used to go out and put on coppertone with no sunscreen?) is ridiculous. I have a seven inch scar on my back from skin cancer. I don't go in the sun or use the beds anymore.
Avatar f tn There is a direct link between tanning beds and melanoma. Melanoma is very serious. Please give up the tanning beds!!! Spray tans or lotions are a better choice!
318269 tn?1241350235 Hi, I'm 9 dpo and I've been tanning a couple times a week will or can this effect my conceiving?
Avatar f tn Would it be a good idea to go tanning at a tanning salon? And regardless what tanning lotion is best to use while pregnant?
Avatar f tn tanning bed also cause skin cancer
Avatar f tn I googled this online and I am curious and a little afraid. I was wondering if you can catch herpes laying in the tanning bed? I laid last summer but I always wore my panties.
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old, and was diagnosed over a month ago with persistent (gestational) trophoblastic disease, but have not yet received chemotherapy treatment. I've used tanning beds on and off since my teenage years (never more than once a week as of the past couple years). My question is- will it affect my type of cancer if I were to go tanning in a salon? I understand I should avoid any type of UV rays once I start chemo... but as of right now, is it okay to do so?
330481 tn?1309488243 I hate tanning beds because I hate laying in there for 20 minutes...and driving there and all that....yuck. Plus this will make you look younger longer. I honestly don't think it would mess with your temp. I guess it could but I would think your internal temp would be the same. Now if you had sun poisening and you were running a fever it is adifferent story. But I don't think that is the case here! Good luck! Let me know how you are doing!
Avatar f tn I had a friend who told me a story about a girl who was going to different beds a day to tan for prom and she ended up cooking her Insides and died from it. True or not IDK, 100%. Tanning while pregnant, makes me sad....
10256164 tn?1408981241 I feel like it's an obvious no for tanning beds.. but what about spray tans?
Avatar f tn The ultraviolet radiation increases your overall lifetime risk of skin cancer by up to 75% according to the World Health Organization. Tanning beds can also raise your body temperature, which can mimic a fever...and fevers are to be avoided especially in pregnancy. The excessive heat can also cause dehydration. Be aware that pregnancy can cause your skin to be more sensitive, increasing your risks of skin reactions and discoloration.
4193337 tn?1355698372 Im 30 weeks and my doc said tanning beds cant harm the baby that the only worry is getting to hot but she said I will be fine as long as there is a fan on me and im drinking lots of water. Has anyone else used a tanning bed while pregnant?
Avatar f tn Why would anything natural like that be bad for you and the baby? On the flip side, tanning beds give you super charges of artificial UV rays from only a few inches away. That's what will fry your baby. Plus, tanning beds are just bad for everyone.
Avatar n tn Hi, I started indoor tanning about 3 months ago and I've had wonderful results so far. My psoriasis and eczema have cleared up, I have more energy, and my skin feels better than ever. My wounds and cuts heal much faster than before. Before tanning, I'd tried all the creams and lotions, went to several dermatologists, and it didn't help. Recently I read about the risks involved, like melanoma and other cancer.
Avatar f tn When do you need to stop tanning and what does it do to the baby? I am 5 weeks and 5 days.
Avatar n tn Im not sure WHAT this is but i have recently started the tanning bed and today i laid a little longer... well when i got out i have these dark red spots on my shoulder. like a cluster of red spots... it looks like blood raised to the skin? it actually looks exactly like freckles but only in a small clustered area... they were not there b4 and i can tell they are not new freckles? could this be bad??
Avatar n tn Hi I had a similar experience with a mole on my leg. My doctor ended up taking more skin from the area just to be sure that there were no more atypical cells surrounding where the mole had been. They also wanted to make sure that the mole wouldn't grow back because it might have became a melanoma later on if it did. I don't think you are overreacting and I do think you may have a higher risk of melanoma than other people.
