Common Questions and Answers about Premarin and hot flashes

premarin

Avatar m tn 38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe. Any suggestions? I truly need to get some sleep!
Avatar n tn I took Premarin for four months last year, and while it did help with the flashes and night sweats, it did little to help with my anxiety, stress and mood swings. If anything, it seemed to make things worse. I’ve never taken Effexor, but I have seen that it has been prescribed for menopause symptoms. I had a look at the listed side-effects and at what people are saying about it at askapatient.
Avatar f tn Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance. My doctor increased it to the next higher dosage of 0.
Avatar f tn The Premarin helped quite a bit with the hot flashes, but my moods and anxiety levels seemed to get even worse. Plus it was causing physical side effects that were really scaring me, so I quit after only a few months. After quitting the hormones I started using and herbal supplement called Wisdom Menopause Formula, and for me it has been wonderful.
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar n tn The night sweats stopped almost immediately, and the hot flashes became fewer and less severe. Sometimes I feel a little flushed, like one is coming on, but then it just seems to fizzle. The pain in my legs and breasts has also subsided, and I’m feeling great. The best part is that I’m actually able to get a good night’s sleep again!
498959 tn?1209954808 Ever since then I have been getting horrible hot flashes and having night sweats. The hot flashes make me feel like I am melting, lol, I get hot and start sweating, its horrible. I wake up in the night and am wringing wet because of the night sweats. Some have mentioned that it is probably menopause, etc....but why would i not have them before now/ I dont really want to take a hormone like Premarin, I just want the hot flashes to go away.......any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Premarin daily which I took for the next 15 year until the scare of it being direclty involved in the cause of some breast cancers. I stopped immediately. I have fought the battle of hot flashes for the past 6 years and they are starting to taper off. I am now 61 years old. But I have have an increasing problem with hair loss. I have been told it could be due to the anesthesia that I was given for several surgeries or the lack of Estrogen.
Avatar f tn The pain got much worse and I was not feeling myself so I stopped taking the premerin and opted to try a product I found on line called Amberen, so far that isnt doinganything for the hot flashes and night sweats at all but since stopping the premarin my legs are not bothering. I am taking calcium pills for my bones but I am truly worried for my health and want to find the best options for me.
Avatar m tn I had a hysterectomy a few months ago in August. My GYN removed EVERYTHING except for a tiny portion of my cervix for a safety measure. He prescribed Premarin 1.25mg. for a month. Since, I haven't had hot flashes, mood swings, or vagina dryness. I was 47 at the time of surgery. The thing I've experienced is I get mild cramps during what would normally be my time of the month, however, with each passing month it is becoming less and less. I feel so much better now!!!!
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago and I understand what you are going through. I immediately start having hot flashes and night sweats and it was absolutly horrible. I spoke with my doctor and he put me on Venlafaxine HCL ER TSBS he said to make sure they don't give me the generic because if it is not the Venlafaxine HCL ER (extended release) it will make me sick ( throw up). I have been on it for two weeks now and it really works for me.
Avatar f tn My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal. I am going through hot flashes now, but that is bearable compared to what I had been through. I do believe both autoimmune diseases where caused by Premarin. I thank God that I feel well after being sick for so long.
Avatar f tn now ive been off them for 6 years now and feel and look like ****.hot flashes constantly..for the past year ive had acne on my chin that will not go away and ive been told its due to hormmonal imbalance..so im trying to find out some info on this..ill pass any info along that might balance our levels..im going to the health food store to find out.
Avatar f tn My gyn started me on Premarin in August, and it really did help with the hot flashes, but it gave me physical side effects that were so bad that I only lasted four months. When I quit in December, the hot flashes and night sweats came back, and that’s when I started taking the Wisdom. Now that summer’s almost here I’m a little worried about how I’m going to react to the heat. The product has been good so far, but it seems like the heat makes everything SO much worse.
Avatar f tn As for the anxiety, do yourself a favor and give Wisdom Menopause Formula a try. It has made a huge difference for me, and it took care of the hot flashes and night sweats as well. I know six or eight women who are taking it, and I've heard nothing but praise. Please let us know what your doctor says!
Avatar n tn t immediately go through any symptoms like hot flashes that kind of stuff. It was about a week before I started premarin because my dr wanted me to take it. I took it for several years and then took myself off. I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday.
Avatar n tn I have very bad hot flashes, one doctor prescribed Premarin, another Yazmin, wich pill should I take???? I take 50 mg. of captopril for hight blood pressure, the rest of my health is good.
Avatar n tn The stuff I am taking is called Enjuvia and the dosage is .625 mg. Just enough to stop the hot flashes. No other side effects. Your doctor will know what you need and when.
Avatar f tn 8 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I was on premarin for about 2 weeks and I quit taking it because it made me feel sick. Never went through any menopause symptoms. Now I'm 45 and having hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, emotional.......is it possible that I'm going through menopause now after 8 years? Any one ever hear of this or know what might be happening?

I ran out of them and forgot to take them for 2 months and they came back with a vengeance!!! I did not sleep for 2 weeks straight from sweating so much even though my husband would be freezing and the hot flashe were horrendous!. Finally I realized that I wasn't taking them so immediately I went and bought some and haven't had a hot flash or night sweat since the second day!
Avatar n tn I would say it took 2 weeks for me to be symptom free,,,,,I recently ran out of my patch and tryed to stop using it in 2 days I was cranky, having hot flashes and not sleeping,,,My doctor now is suggesting that I use it for 3 weeks on one week off.

Avatar n tn 7 months ago I started having hot flashes which have become almost unbearable now. One of the hot flashes lasted in excess of 3 hours and left me completely drained of energy. For the past 5 months I have been on a tablet Angeliq and although the hot flashes are less, they still occur at the most inconvenient times. The doctor recently advised me to add a Premarin tablet (the green one, small dose) to the Angeliq and I now have one or two hot flashes every day.
718868 tn?1230730029 t helping very much. At 26, I have horrible night sweats, hot flashes, crying spells, mood swings, etc... Aside from that, I also have hypertyroidism which adds to some of my symptoms. Does anyone know of any other type of hormone I should ask my physician about, as I am getting very weary of being this age and unable to do very much from my body being so tired and weary. Thank you for your time.
378102 tn?1215571666 My hot flashes began about halfway through my original chemo, and have not changed a whole lot since. After my surgery, my gyn/onc put me on premarin for awhile but I did not really see where it did a whole lot. I have heard that many of those herbs are supposed to help, but remember before you start taking anything, clear it with your Dr first.
414018 tn?1268611672 The surgery kicked it in full swing. I was on premarin for awhile to try and help with hot flashes but as it did not seem to be doing much, I was taken off of it. If possible, can you explain your situation a little more?
880900 tn?1467270141 Conjugated estrogen is an estrogen replacement hormone used for the management of menopausal symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding (spotting), hot flashes, sweating, and chills. It is also used by women to prevent and treat osteoporosis, in cases where non-estrogen medications have already been considered. It is used to replace estrogen hormones in situations where the body can no longer produce estrogen.
Avatar f tn 00 watch what I was eating but no diet...
1129774 tn?1279831762 I am currently on .1 vivelle dot patch and I am doing okay. I have no hot flashes, but I still have extreme dry eyes, vaginal dryness, and muscle aches in my upper back. It seems the symptoms get worse one day before I am supposed to change the patch. I have read that some women can burn through the estrogen quicker. My dr. gave me samples of the Divigel to try instead. I really want to stay on the patch bc of the ease of use.
