Common Questions and Answers about Pregnant while breastfeeding

pregnant

Avatar f tn I just talked to my midwife about breastfeeding while pregnant this morning and she said it is perfectly fine. She said people who don't know the facts think you need to stop, but that is not true. Personally I am breastfeeding my 22 month old and I am 14 weeks pregnant. If she doesn't self wean I'll be tandem nursing them in March! Good for you to be educating yourself and not just doing what others say. You are being a fantastic Mom and meeting the needs of both babies!

408496 tn?1269603350 it is not a form of birth control. i got pregnant while breastfeeding and i did not have a period at all. when i questioned the doctor he said you still ovulate even if you dont bleed. so i would say just keep tring the normal things and it will happen.

Avatar f tn You can breastfeed while pregnant. The milk will turn thick and colustrum like after a while but still fantastic for baby. I've heard that some babies really love the ticker milk too. I would advise you to tell your OB or health care provider that you are going to continue to breastfeed during pregnancy so that they can better advise you on your health and nutrition requirements throughout your pregnancy.
3930380 tn?1357887113 I was breastfeeding my son when I got pregnant, he was 7 months old when I got my first period, the I didn't get it again till months later, I got my period when he was 12 months old and got pregnant, I didn't know that I was pregnant till I was three months pregnant because my periods were irregular.....
997993 tn?1290751148 Since your periods have returned, you are ovulating for sure. But not all women can become pregnant while breastfeeding. Some can with no problem, but not all. I did extensive research on this a while back because I wanted to get pregnant again. Anyway, for some women it is easy to do without any problems. Some women have too low hormone levels to sustain a pregnancy. I know that is the case for me. I have timed things right for the past 3 months and not gotten pregnant.
Avatar f tn I am trying to ease my mind and figure out how common it is to miss your period after having your period while breastfeeding an infant. I am breastfeeding a 4 month old, I had a period when she was 2 months and 3 months but now I'm a week late. I have taken 3 pts so far and all negative. how big are the chances that I'm pregnant again? I did start exercising over the last month, and I also starting pumping to stock up on breastmilk. Could that cause me to miss my period this month?
1712422 tn?1443337501 All u can take while breastfeeding is ibuprofen u can't take tylenol. It's weird cause while ur prego all u can have is tylenol and while breastfeeding all I can take is ibuprofen funny huh.
1209036 tn?1299178657 This is NOT fool proof becuase some women DO ovulate, I was breastfeeding my youngest daughter, did NOT get a period and ended up pregnant with my oldest son when she was 5 mos old. OOPS! As for being extra fertile after giving birth, that's dependant on numerous factors...breastfeeding, your particular fertility, how fast your body reregulates itself.
Avatar f tn Thank you. That's encouraging that you got AF so soon even while breastfeeding. I have not even had my baby yet-I'm only 3 1/2 months pregnant! But I just can't help planning ahead... With a c-section, does it take longer to get AF?
5975291 tn?1430718287 I jus saw on the Internet pregnant women can get tattooed while pregnant dats not safe wtf i love new ink but ill wait aint no tattoo worth the health of my unborn
Avatar f tn Sorry no piercings or tattoos while pregnant, many say not to while breastfeeding too but I got my nose pierced and 2 tattoos while breastfeeding. Wait until after you have your baby and go to someone reputable and make sure they use pre sterilized needles and tips. Dont be afraid to ask first and ask to see what they are doing and using on you.
2006603 tn?1331329327 Watch the high fructose corn syrup, though. There are the equivalent of something like 12 teaspoons of sugar in one can of soda.
