Common Questions and Answers about Pregnant insomnia

pregnancy

Avatar f tn So I am only 4 weeks pregnant. And I have horrible insomnia. Generally I take a benadryl(no name brand) to help me fall asleep. But I just recently found out I'm pregnant. And I'm not sure if it's ok to take. What do you guys think?
Avatar f tn I suffered from insomnia before I got pregnant. My first trimester I had no problem sleeping because I was always tired. Now at 32 almost 33 weeks I fall asleep between 11:30-12:00 like I did before I got pregnant but wake up between 2-3 and don't get back to sleep til 5 and have to be up by 7. It really is a pain and I can't take my meds for it because it lowers my son's heart rate too much.
Avatar f tn I found out i was pregnant at 4 weeks but began having sleep insomnia at least a week before i found out i was pregnant, now im 7 weeks and still cant sleep at night.
Avatar f tn Is it OK and normal to have really bad insomnia while pregnant? I am around 6 weeks right now. Couple weeks ago, I was Always tired and sleeping a lot more and now all of a sudden, insomnia struck since a few days ago....and I have huge headaches. I have been sleeping about 3 hours at most every night if I do fall asleep at all. My doc told me I can't take any sleeping pills either.
Avatar f tn I am 36 years old and 7 weeks along and have had insomnia since I found out I was pregnant a week ago, is anyone else experiencing this issue? I don't think it's stress related because we are very happy about being pregnant.
Avatar f tn I am six months pregnant and I cant sleep at night lately . Several problems cause this either im too hot or I get these nasty leg cramps or the baby simply keeps me up moving around. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Girly thats all apart of being pregnant! Lol.. at least for me it was.. I could HARDLY sleep all through my pregnancy. But yea just like Chantal said try avoiding sweets and caffenine a few hours before bedtime and I would eat a turkey sandwich an hour before bed.. turkey has something in it that makes you tired. Hopefully this helps!
Avatar f tn Is it possible to developeople any sleeping disorders while pregnant. I have had bad knee problems since age 10 n I'm almost 19 so quite a while. I'm 16 weeks pregnant I find it hard to sleep during the night due to having to go to the bathroom n my doc told me to stay off my back when laying down to mainly stay on left side. If you need to move lay on the right aide for 5-10 mins then switch back. I have a bunch of pillows supporting my back laying on my left.
Avatar f tn ve been having insomnia ever since I got pregnant. I never had sleep problems before getting pregnant and realized after 3 wks of getting very little sleep that I needed to do something about it and I was 11wks at the time. I researched online, and decided to start taking Unisom sleeping pills. I advised my Dr that I started taking it and she didn't bat an eye. I'm now almost 35 wks and still cannot sleep the whole night without taking a pill. Try it!

4268628 tn?1375041176 t normally do caffeine normally (even when not pregnant ) but might have to make an exception. ..finally fell asleep about 7 to be up by 9.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor about it. I have had insomnia when not pregnant and been restless when pregnant. some classic insomnia things are to 'not give into it'. Keep lights off, don't watch tv or read or do the computer. Lay with eyes shut as that is still resting. Watch any and all caffeine, don't eat too much late at night, get some exercise during the day. How do you go to work in the day time? That must be so hard!
Avatar f tn Oh my I give you ladies so much credit, this is my first but all I can think is "how can people be pregnant and take care of their children", I can barely take care of myself lol
Avatar f tn I notice if I get a nice little workout in at some point in the day that helps. And then I use a sleep sound machine app on my phone and it has helped for the most part. Some nights I lay there for hours...there are some sleepy time teas that I use to drink but haven't asked my doc if they are safe to drink while pregnant.
Avatar f tn My doctor recommended not to take any type of medication like that. You can try caffein free sleep time tea , stretches ( for pregnant women) or pregnancy yoga to help relax your body .
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced insomnia during early pregnancy? I'm only 4 weeks but for the last 3 or 4 nights I go to bed like usual and wake up around 1am and can't get back to sleep for hours. But I'm tired all day long and I avoid naps.
Avatar f tn I'm only 4 weeks and 3 days and insomnia is attacking me... is it normal?

1194973 tn?1385503904 ve had a few nights of insomnia but for the most part i sleep 10-12 hours a night. I really sleep way to much but I can't seem to get out of bed sometimes.
5739386 tn?1378836460 My dr said it was safe to take unisom to get to sleep. Insomnia has been an enemy of mine for a while now so being pregnant pretty much intensified it. The first week before I knew I could take anything was horrible.! Lol.

Avatar f tn I'm 20 weeks pregnant and some nights I crash by 7 o clock and other nights I can't sleep until 3 am... When this happens, I'm not worried about anything and I don't think too much about anything, I just can't get to sleep because I'm not tired! I guess most of the time I get really hot and find it hard to get comfortable because of my bump, but other nights I just don't get tired. Anyone know how to fix this??
