I had my 20 week scan yesterday and baby is looking fantastic. Measuring right on track and doc was very happy with babies heart, breain and organ development. There was no signs of any probs with limbs etc and we gor some great shots including some 4D ones which are very cute.
Avatar f tn The doctors wait until 20 weeks because of development. I forget what the doctor told me but there is something very important in development around 20 weeks. They check at 20 week a to be sure it developed right. My doctor always says that the ultrasound is to make sure everything is okay not to find out what the baby is.
Avatar f tn A big thing is vitamins! Make sure you take pregnancy vitamins! They are a blessing, coz baby will take all yours.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend informed me yesterday (4th Feb 2010) that she has been HIV+ since 2005. We had unprotected sex (thrice) between 27th-30th November 2009. So, this is the 10th week. I plan on going for a test early next week. She says since her discovery of her status in 2005, she never took HIV medication because her CD4 has been up and the hospitals are aware she is not taking medication. Now, i haven't had any related symptom. But, about 3rd week of December (i.e approx 3.

Avatar f tn The fetal heart undergoes a considerable amount of growth very early in pregnancy. The most critical period of its development is between three and seven weeks after fertilization, when a simple heart tube assumes the shape of a four-chambered heart. In fact, the heart actually begins beating by the 22nd day of life.
Avatar f tn From wikipedia- During embryological development, some fetuses may form choroid plexus cysts. These fluid-filled cysts can be detected by a level II ultrasound (18–20 weeks gestation). The finding is relatively common, with a prevalence of ~1%. Choroid plexus cysts (CPC) can be an isolated finding, which confers a 1% (variable based on population studied) risk of fetal aneuploidy. The risk of aneuploidy increases to 10.5-12% if other risk factors or ultrasound findings are noted.
1339501 tn?1285439404 I measured where I should have, at about 8 weeks now where as last week they had told me I was off on my dates by two weeks. So I thought I should post my situation for all you soon-to-be mothers who are waiting to hear the heart beat - just because you don't see it this week, don't go crazy with anxiety! They say all embryo's develop at the same rate until the second trimester, but not always or at least not in my situation . . .
Avatar f tn Your baby (well the average 36 week old anyway) still has a lot of brain growth, lung development, liver development and a whole bunch of other developments that are safer done inside the womb than outside. They are at their optimum at 40 weeks (and a baby born at 42 weeks has better outcomes than the average 38 week old - so even though 37 weeks is technically full term, for most babies, the longer they stay in the better).
7975661 tn?1403095318 They check the brain development, heart, blood flow, oxygen flow, the stomach, fingers, toes, arms, legs, make sure the navel cord is connected to you properly. Basically a very detailed physical. They will give you pictures and tell you the sex if your little one doesn't hide it....
Avatar f tn m hoping they will, I think just seeing the babies heart and development will help put my mind at ease.
800427 tn?1324945719 Development, Gestation, Conception. They give different dates for when the second trimester begins and for when the third trimester begins. Your health care provider might prefer to use the Development method, while another Midwife or Doctor may use the Gestation method. I am sure they do that just to confuse pregnant women. Development: This uses actual developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy. From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs and becomes a fetus.
Avatar f tn Hi I've send you a message but will post another answer here for other thyroid pregnant mommies. Im also 18 weeks and a Hashimoto's patient. Your levels will have to be between TSH 1-2 some Dr's even believe below 1. Especially during the first few weeks. Your medication should be adjusted during the pregnancy. Your baby's own thyroid gland starts working at about 15 weeks of pregnancy but your levels should be checked constantly during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The last us I had was last week and I go in for another one next week. According to the us the drs figure the baby weighed 7.7 pounds so they were concerned with how big he could get in four more weeks because of the history of my other two.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctors today and my midwife told me that when she looked at my ultrasound from two weeks ago my placenta was low ( by my cervix ) and they couldn't really see how the spine was developing. I go back next week for another ultrasound, i hope everything turns out okay. She was moving around a lot so hopefully that's why they couldn't tell. Has this happened to anyone before and end up turning out ok?
Avatar n tn I'm expecting twins too! Congrats. My doctor is going to induce me at 38 weeks as well if they don't come before. From all the research I've done it's totally routine to make sure twins are born by 38 weeks before they run into any type of distress or iugr.

Avatar f tn I would say 36 weeks. I had my daughter at 34 and her lungs weren't fully developed so she had to stay in intensive care for a week bc she couldn't breath on her own.
Avatar f tn My legs and arms just feel so weak. I have to sit down every 5 minutes or my legs give out. This is my second pregnancy and I never experienced this with my first. Had anybody else felt this and is it normal? Thank you in advance!
