I'm 31 years old, second pregnancy and was told I failed the 1 hour glucose test. The reading was 150. I'm very upset over this since I normally eat healthy and cannot pinpoint the cause. The 3 hour test will take place on Monday and I'm hoping the numbers are normal. Has anyone experienced this? Any tips?
So I had my 1 hour glucose test Monday and the doctor called Tuesday and told me my blood levels came back high, I scheduled the 3 hour glucose screening for this upcoming Monday. I had a stomach flu that day an the day before and was very dehydrated.. Anybody else hadthis happen to them and not end up being confirmed witch gestational diabetes?? I'm a worried mommy.
Depends if it's the 1 hour test or 3 hour test. The 3 hour test you are suppose to fast for but the 1 hour it doesn't matters. You can eat before the one hour test and drink whatever. But you can't eat or drink anything during the hour wait. Your doctor should have given you instructions on the to do.
It happen since the one hour one is only a pre screening test. I took the three hours one a week after and pass. And yes I heard a lot of doctor had switched to the two hours test but it all depend on your doctor and state. Some even skip the one hour and only do the two hours one.

I just had my 1-hr glucose screening test last Thursday. I was told not to fast at all. I did eat before I went to the appointment. I also had an apple & 2 cookies that day as well before my appointment.
I ended failing the test. :( The cutoff was 139 and my result was 141. Now I have to go tomorrow to take the 3-hour test.
I think it was the cookies (stupid me!!) and apple that pushed me over. Thoughts? I really doubt that I have gestational diabetes.
So I just had my one hour glucose screening test and it kind if sucked... At first it wasn't so bad then about half way through I felt so nauseous and light headed and now I just feel like crap! I'm really hoping I pass so I don't have to do the three hour test.. Anyone else feel really crappy after this test?

Yes, I just had my 24 wk appointment and scheduled my glucose test for my next visit. My doctor also sent the drink home with me, with instructions on when to take it. They have to draw blood exactly 1 hour after you finish the drink. if you take it at the office you'll have to sit around and wait. If they send it with you, you won't have to stay as long and they can draw your blood as soon as you get there.
It depends if it's the one hour or the three hour test. If it's the one hour (screening), then don't eat anything 3 hours prior. If it's the 3 hour test, then don't eat anything 10 hours prior. Nothing you eat before that really is going to make you pass or fail- you either will pass or wont. If you're taking the 3 hour test make sure to eat well the night before so you don't feel hungry!
Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain.
I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
Tomorrow I'm supposed to take my 1 hour glucose test and it's my first time, it's early in the morning and I'm not really sure what is appropriate for me to eat for breakfast before I go in. I have to eat because I'm super hungry when I wake up and I get sick if I don't eat. Can anyone help with ideas?
